So all I see everyday are posts begging for content. Those people seem like they don't know that you can play other games . I'm feeling pretty well burnt out , been playing a lot of mgs5 lately. That's ok , I still play crucible because I find it enjoyable .
It's ok to say that you're ready for new content. We all are. But don't go shouting and swearing, saying " -blam!- Bungie " and " this game is shit " . They are making the content. It takes time. Remember the Dark Below ? That's what you get when you try to rush content to please a community. I have never heard anyone complain that its taking too long for the next fallout to come out.
Why is it that with Destiny , you talk shit about the developers , and then expect them to churn out high quality content get regularly? I have never seen any other game company held to such an impossible standard. The way I see it , the content we get is the most we can get . We can give feedback on how to make it better , but simply saying "make it faster " is pointless. Do what you would with any other game when you're done . Take a break . Don't treat destiny to a different standard.
As for announcing content, you kind of screwed that up already. The "no-raid" HoW disaster was due to a hint of a raid in an email that was probably photoshopped. Hell, I still see people referencing " You see that , you can go over there ". If you want to hear content announced early, don't throw a fit because it changes at the final product . Because it will.
I know you only complain because you love the game. But just try to be civil, and understand .
Cue the " desticle " comments . I hate Bungie sometimes with their decisions and almost lying. But content , I'm ok with that.
Edit : I'm actually pretty surprised at how intelligent the conversation has been. People are bringing up valid points, and doing so in a civil way. I don't care if you completely disagree with me , I welcome it . Just continue the trend and talk constructively .
Anyway , back to the topic at hand. People are referencing other games that provide content very quickly , but there are a good few factors that go into that :
Size of company
Type of game
If the company has other commitments
How long content has already been in development (as in dlc's that are already made before launch )
Player demand
There are probably more I'm not even aware of. The main point of my post is that Bungie is doing the best they can. What we get is the best we can get with the current factors I mentioned before. You can't tell someone to just "run faster " when they are going as fast as they can. Bungie isn't going out of their way to harm the consumer.
Edit 2: I wrote edit 1 like 10 seconds ago , but multiple edits make me seem cool, right ?
Anyway , there is something I wanted to clarify . When I said that " you talk shit about the developers , and then expect them to churn out high quality content get regularly? ", that was part of my double standard idea . If you feel the developers are horrible at their jobs, why do you expect them to make perfect content ? That makes no sense. So either don't insult them, or don't expect good content , because they are contradictory statements

1 ReplyEdited by CitrusTheNile: 3/20/2016 10:26:45 PMSize of Company: Bungie + Activision = huge. Therefore, they have the resources at their disposal to improve things. Like their game engine. However, they are cheap and won't do that. Type of Game/Demand: Considering a large portion of the demand is to make year one content relevant, it shouldn't be that hard to implement new damage scheme into the old activities. Content development: Companies that run Warframe and WoT, like I already mentioned, are programming new content and constantly critiquing current issues. It's not like they stored up all this "DLC" content before they released the game. Finally, the OP doesn't consider the fact that Bungie has done nothing to improve their game engine.
You can't tell someone to just "run faster " when they are going as fast as they can. Bungie isn't going out of their way to harm the consumer.
If the OP new anything about running the OP would realize that people can run faster when they are told to, either through pacing or by improving their form. Terrible analogy. So in the end, Bungie needs to improve their form (game engine) or needs to learn how to pace themselves MUCH better. At this point, Bungie is just going out of their way to hurt themselves.

Automatic disqualification because you think TDB was rushed content. All 3 dlc's were cut from the base game. Destiny was shipped as a broken experience. Bungie gets no sympathy from me.

I have never heard anyone complain that its taking too long for the next fallout to come out.
Fallout is a complete game in itself, I don't get to the end of Fallout and require new content to complete the story. My gripe with Destiny and its content is the lack of any actual information and the miserly nature of some of the recent content. When I played WoW I knew when and what the new content was, you can claim subscription blah vs not subscription but that's a lame excuse for not having an actual timetable.

1 ReplyHere's a few things that Bungie could EASILY have done to increase the things to do for veteran players. 1: Add new levels to PoE to make it relevant for current max light. 2: Allow us to upgrade year 1 weapons to year 2 light with either etheric lights or a new hard-to-obtain material. 3: Bring all of the year 1 strikes to the year 2 nightfall rotation. 4: Bring the year 1 raids up to year 2 level(with the option to do the year 1 versions with matchmaking) All of these things would be really really really easy to do, and its what most of the playerbase has been asking for for ages. One of the things that pisses me of, is that Bungie doesnt seem to listen to their players that much. One example is the Iron Banner event. The majority of the players dont want clash. And what do they the give us? Clash... Last IB, I could only muster about 5 games because clash feels completly pointless. Even rift is a better mode for IB since its about team work(Im not a huge fan of rift, but I think its better then clash). In my opinion, IB should actually be Zone Control. But I digress. How long have the players here been asking for PoE to be relevant? The way it sits now it might as well just be removed from the game as the only thing its good for is farming strange coins.(and for some reason, only the lvl28 gives any rewards at the end) They have all the maps for it, We still only have 5 types of enemies; Fallen, Vex Cabal, Hive and Taken, so all they would have to do, is design a new boss and throw in a new mechanic for that boss. I wouldnt mind farming PoE if it actually dropped relevant gear. How long have the players been asking for the old raids to be brought up to par with the current max lvl? And get the old strikes on the nightfall roster. These are not tasks that would require months and months of work and need to be kept strictly secret. Atleast we're getting some new stuff next month, and so does the division. So the future is looking abit brighter then it did after the Crimson doubles ended.

3 RepliesEdited by CitrusTheNile: 3/18/2016 3:36:52 PM
I have never seen any other game company held to such an impossible standard.
You must not play many other games. There are FREE-TO-PLAY games that pump out better and faster content than Bungie ever could. Warframe has monthly updates with new content and an event almost bi-weekly. WoT has new tanks added into the store every month with new events every week. Etc. So really you should try.....
Playing other games.
-
7 RepliesI think the frustration lies more with the fact that with each dlc they manage to make the game smaller rather than bigger by making previous content totally irrelevant.
-
3 RepliesI can name you free games for every finger of my hand I masturbate with who put out 15 times more content monthly then Destiny did in 2 years. Free games who do not own multi million dollar studio and equipment and aren't backed by one of the most powerful publication studio we have seen so far. These games not only look good. they play good. are extremely fun, they last longer then destiny, the devs put immense work in keeping them up dated and smooth all for absolutely free so stop this BS.
-
4 RepliesBut hey, they didn't mind pumping out monthly PVP updates for the last year, but you know it's hard to make content that is actually old locked content but it's new content because idiots will never see the difference. BTW I play games with new PVE content every month, not every 6 months if we're lucky.

Bungie drew ppl in with their big ideas and expansive hype. They bit off more than they could chew. People become so encompassed by destiny that anything less than epic is a letdown. If bungie didn't give such false hope in the beginning, this stuff would never happen. That and the fact that they've been caught out telling many different stories has made the community skeptical on everything. It's gonna be quite some time before that train of thought ends. Maybe between destiny 2-3.

1 ReplyEdited by Nue808: 3/19/2016 3:19:41 AMBungie just like re-cycling content. yr1 content re-packaged with tk. planets the size of suburbs. sub classes that were intended for yr1. really do you even read the forums here. this game is dead allready, because Bungie promised a massive expanding universe....they failed epically. We all lapped it up, bought the expansions. -blam!- Bungie. Stuff paid dlcs, -blam!- season passes too. There is no double standard. All developers right now are just being bulls-hit greedy. You pay for a game, thats it. Instead, its subscription based simply to bleed money from us. Destiny 1 made a ton of money. Destiny 2 won't simply because too many players will be wise to the Bungie bS. I feel sorry for the Desticle apologists. The only reason that the new content will be free... Is because Bunghole are losing players. If it was paid, no-one would buy it. Its that simple, too late Destiny in its present form is DEAD. The only people playing now are rusted on die-hards, and kids with no money for new games.

5 Repliesthe community isnt putting pressure on the company AT ALL... Bungie brought this on themselves. hyping up a game for 3 months with the most marketing budget in the gaming industry and not delivering on it is TRASH... the community ( including me) just wants what we were signing up for. is it pressure that EVERYONE is talking about it? no... thats called a voice. because if we dont say it... no one will realise that Bungie is -blam!-ing everyone up the ass with a 23 inch dildo... and you're enjoying it. im personally not mad that there isnt any content to play... im simply mad because 1. they cut content from Y1 and resold it... 3 times. and 2. they could have just said new DLC every year till Destiny 2. instead of rushing a shitting DLC with half assed content. every other BIG company ( Project Red...Square Enix... Naughty Dog ) never rush content and ALWAYS deliver on their promises. thats why we wait.. even if they game is delayed, because we KNOW that the game is going to be worth it. TLDR: Destiny was rushed... thats why its shitty.
-
Brace yourself for this is a long on, there is no TL/DR. I'm not bashing, but trying to make points out of the destiny/Bungie situation. I tried to understand where you were coming from but I just couldn't. The biggest problem I saw was the part about TDB and about it being rushed because people were begging for content. TDB was not rushed because people were crying, it was cut content to begin with and was scheduled before the release date of Destiny(along with HoW original date, but more on that later). When you went to GameStop or Best Buy, there was an advertisement poster that said what both expansions offered and its initial release date and those have been up about a month or two before destiny was launched, so no it wasn't rushed because of the players. It was the same with HoW, although for some reason they decided to push that back and remove the raid(assumably to make room for PoE, which was a topic people WERE asking for as a horde mode type game(which was terrible IMO). The way I see it is like this. All of that was cut content. Let's say if it wasn't cut content as an example. It didn't strike anybody this strange little detail, that they can rush to make a raid, new gear/weapons/ships/shaders to raise stats, 3 new(backwards) missions and changes to to patrol on different sandboxes(planets) in 3 months(September release of destiny to December release of TDB) and again a 5 months later with HoW, along with another hub, BUT a year later all they can do is release TTK with reskinned weapons and gear a few missions, one raid and a few time locked exotics? Not only that but 6 months after THAT they we barely coming out with another "update" that is just revamped previous content and ONE strike. I don't know what is going on behind the doors at Bungie, but I don't see it going so well. The firing/quitting of Staten, Ryan(which needed to go), and O'Donell, another studio to come help with Destiny 2(I mean really High Moon, how'd that work out with CoD:AW), a new lead script writer(sure he did ME:A, BUT he also wrote Halo 4 and that was the worst story of any halo game). Going back to Bungie's help from another studio, when did Bungie EVER need help when making any of the original halo trilogy? NEVER, and those were the greatest games at the time(even till this day really). For some reason, I feel Activision isn't too satisfied with Bungie at this point, so they are taking over the IP little by little and will eventually let Bungie go(which can and probably will lead to either Bungie going under and ceasing to exist or being bought out and owned by Activision) if destiny 2 isn't as successful or more than the first, hence the delay of D2 to work on it again and try to not re-live the errors of D1
-
It's not a double standard, especially when we've caught them lying to us red handed before. Setting most grievances aside for a moment, it's been 7 months without so much as a peep from them about what's going on and in that whole time we've gotten very little if anything new. A few cool surprises like the hidden parts of certain daily heroics but otherwise nothing amazing/new (that was all just time-gated content). Now after month sof silence on Bungie's part and ever-growing discontent on ours, they decide to throw us a bone because The Division is threatening their install base. And what do they preview for us? Somethign that appears to strongly suggest a reskinned Prison of Elders and a single new strike. This is a sick joke at best and gross neglegence and/or incompetence at worst on Bungie's part. I have played far too many games over the years that have been amazing and set the bar fairly high when it comes to updates and new content to simply give Bungie, a veteran developer a free pass on this BS. It's not being entitled at all, it's fair demand for value as a loyal customer, something most developers used to understand and respect. Diablo 3 went from being 1 of the worst games ever to a shining example of how a loot-based game should play and all for free (minus the expansion which is fairly cheap anyway) and continues to receive free, regular updates from Blizzard. The Division has 2 big free updates coming, promises regular updates in the future, a DLC roadmap and offers quite a few perks for season pass holders instead of just a crappy $5 discount on content THAT WAS ALREADY ON THE DAMN DISC. Final Fantasy XIV is a standard subscription based MMO, but has regular content updates and developers that go out of their way to interact with the community and address any issues while staying true to their vision for the game (a vision I disagree with in many parts but I still like the game overall). So please, enlightmen me, just what the hell is Bungie's excuse? Yes, most of the founders are sadly gone now and it's done arguably irreperable damage, but that still doesn't excuse the level of garbage we've had to tolerate that taints what should have rightly been one of the greatest games of all time. I'm still hoping that in the end, this will basically turn out to be a horrendous 2-year long beta that will shape Destiny 2 into what D1 should have been all along, but that doesn't really fix the gripes I and many others have currently with both the game and Bungie.
-
2 RepliesSince the release of Destiny, not a single piece of content was created. All the content we have now was made pre-destiny. So I shouldn't see why the community shouldn't be complaining about new content when Bungie have only been working on minor patches for the past year and a half.
-
I think they got caught without a backup plan after the TTK mass exit if the player base. What I suspect happened then was several months of reworking a failed plan and ultimately realizing the next version of the game was the only real way to get numbers and sales.

Edited by SnD Kompalisky: 3/19/2016 6:39:14 PMI love Desinty. I'm almost glad it's stale... Let's me play other games. Because I know as soon as this update comes out, I'll be back at it. And when it gets stale again, I'll go play other games. It's not hard to do. Maybe most of the community only owns Destiny or something... Idk.

I just put destiny down for a bit play catch up on all my other shit and call it a day. Once new content comes out everyone will be right back with destiny. Uncharted,Dark Souls 3, Gears of War, and the list goes on. Then again it does not take a lot to impress me I come from an era of gaming where we did not have graphics........ West of House You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door. There is a small mailbox here. >Open mailbox Opening the mailbox reveals a small leaflet.

10 Replieshey, you reap what you sow. And Bungie is reaping the effects, now. They made this monster by planting in us ONE standard....Then came with at least 3 different STANDARDS in year one. .....then another TTK, locking out players...trashing weapons and game modes....rose skins that didnt look the best ..but were nice ..eeh ... Yeah I'd say the results aren't suprising. Hell, personally, it caused me to never trust any game like this from any one developer, ever again. First time i've experienced a type of community and game of this sort. The impression of both ends ...have left me scrolling forums for drama that I DONT get on TV ..... Hence, I wont even begin to think about ........ the division ( hoody's for armor.....30 bullets to leg and he only coughs, yawns, and follow me to my cover ... na that shit broke too, already.. be honest ... back to real life...and forum drama, that lifestyle was fun while it lasted

I noticed this alot too, are people just being clueless? cause Division (most popular game atm that people use to compare to Destiny) is full of cut content, bugs, etc
-
Well said. I simply can't understand why uninterested people take the time to complain. Move on please.

3 RepliesI got to the part about TDB and had to stop. TDB was already on disk. They didn't have to make it, the download was in the kilobytes, it was an unlock key.

Destiny is actually extremely good as a foundation, and people want it to thrive. Sadly, 95% of the community is as articulate as New Yorker at 3 AM; they only know how to express themselves through shitposting. Actually, that's most humans in general these days.
