My parents think I'm too thin so they won't let me participate in Track and Field. Is that wrong, or are they right?

No, most kids your age are extremely skinny.

Thin is good if you want to run

If you're 5'5 and 120 you're fine for track it'd probably help you gain more muscle mass aswell

1 ReplyI know kids much lighter than you at that age and: 1) You're probably perfect for track and field if you work for it (trust me, I compete each year on a team) and 2) You're probably pretty good weight/BMI-wise
-
2 RepliesAre they super protective or something?

2 RepliesEdited by Reylo_Romance: 2/11/2016 12:44:38 AMNo I don't consider that skinny. You ever watch old ww2 documentaries? A lot of the young men before going to war looked "skinny". They're young, their slow metabolism hasn't kicked in, they actually got good meals from their mothers before the good home cooked meal turned into a TV dinner then morphed Into a McDonald's at every corner. Lifting weights was uncommon and strange to a lot of people so muscle mass wasn't a big deal. The rest of the world just got fatter and more vain about muscle mass. You're fine imo. You aren't skinny. Everyone else is fat

6 RepliesYour parents are complete idiots. Your BMI is 20.0, which is literally exactly where it is supposed to be. Show them this and they can do their own calculations (and for fun, why don't you make your fat assed parents put their own numbers in, too http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/educational/lose_wt/BMI/bmicalc.htm
