A cabal raid would make no sense

Edit: this is trending and now contains a lot of fun discussion about cabal lore and future raid (you know it's coming, don't be ridiculous). Feel free to join in. The cabal ran off like scared kittens because Oryx showed up. We killed him, proving we are even stronger than Oryx, so why in the hell would they come back? I can see it now. [Cutscene 1, Destiny DLC #4 titled "Cabals to the Wall, Man". Interior: Cabal imperial cruiser, luxurious chambers. Emperor Valuke Smi'ith sits on a golden throne throwing silver at a screen when one of his generals enter] "Sooooo Emperor sir. You remember that hideous Hive beast Oryx that was so powerful we had to cut our losses and abandon our conquest in that little shithole of a solar system? Turns out he's dead!" "Excellent news Val Tra'acksuit. How did he meet his demise? Did he come across those invincible blind thrall on the balcony perhaps?" "Negative, Emperor sir. Apparently the guardians that huddle in the tower on earth became so powerful through the knowledge Oryx kept close that they managed to destroy him. In fact, they took a piece of the god that dwelled within him and made A GUN out of it. A particularly nasty piece of work if my intel is correct sir." "Well then, with Oryx gone, there is nothing stopping our conquest anymore. You tell our boys to turn back and resume the fighting." "But Emperor sir, these guardians, surely they pose an even bigger threat than Oryx himself, to have bested him and even the god he served?" "Preposterous! This makes perfect sense because of ambiguous reasons hidden in the grimoire cards." "Emperor, please! We will all die!" "Lol y u mad bro? Let's go!" [End scene]

  • Ran like scared Kittens??? Then why did they crash a ship into the dreadnought to create a beach head? The only running the brothers did was towards the dreadnought's Energy core... (And away form guardians of course) They also sent a signal to the leader of the cabal to start all out war! Thats why it makes sense for the next raid to be a Cabal one

If there is ever a Cabal Raid and assuming it is in a Cabal base or ship, I just hope that once you kill the final boss the base goes into a self destruct sequence. It would be a very Cabal thing to do. You have x amount of minutes to escape, and only then will the final boss loot drop. It should involve some shooting and jumping puzzles, but not entirely difficult seeing as you killed the final boss in the first place!

      • Shame, I am designing a cabal raid concept, it sounds good so far even though I have only just finished the lore.

A few teeny tiny Guardians could kill a God, Oryx. Said teeny tiny Guardians can be one shotted and sent into outer space by one of the lowest ranking enemies in the Cabal military, Phalanxes. I think the Cabal would have done just fine against Oryx.

          • I seem to recall them crashing their ship into the dreadnaught to make an attack on Oryx.

Lmao this was good! Cabal are pretty badass though & actually put up a great fight after they recovered from the surprise attack. I welcome a epic Cabal raid. Shit, I don't even care if the story make sense anymore. Just make it fun to play.
please no Cabal themed armor though. That would be horrible.
• If cabal wasn't in there the gardians wouldn't of made it in. We used them as a distraction when we flew all stealth shit. If you play the strikes and story again they even say. "It's a cabal distress signal." Oryx dead we own the ship. Mufukin cabal army come swarming in thinking we did all this shit. Where forge of God's dlc was suppose to be but whatever dude.

              • Because the force occupying mars was an expeditionary force. And those are usually the lightest armed and outfitted of a military group. Full cabal empire will be pretty terrifying

                • They attacked with there main ship and got further then the awoken did. Only reason they lost was as oyrx could just take them and we wiped out the other generals that were not taken, plus they would prefer to run the ship into the enemy that destroyed there base instead of going back to their emperor and telling him they lost. Sounds like a scary boss to me

                  • The Cabal didn't flee as they are not allowed to return home unless they complete their mission. That's the reason the Bond Brothers were going to blow up the Dreadnaught. They sent a signal to the homeworld/Emperor to tell them that all the Valus' were dead and would either need to abandon the mission or send reinforcements. (I'm just trying let you know more from the story side of the game not trying to start a fuss,we also don't know what the Cabals end game goal is maybe they're still trying to find Charlemagnes Vault on Mars)

                  • pfft it would be easy to justify storywise *Cabal dismiss their loss to Oryx due to his trickery and not having a large enough milatary force* *Guardians prove to be enough of an issue worthy of a direct attack as the Cabal may have beat Oryx if the guadians didn't stop their ship blowing itself up* *they conclude guardians strike teams are deadly in when thought directly so they plan on knocking the moon into earth on top of humanitys last city* *Boom Cabal raid to stop the crashing the moon*

Better question.. how many Cabal Legions exist within the Cabal EMPIRE?...... not withstanding the whole "crash ship into Dreadnaught, stand by to whoop ass, commence ass whooping" thing. How much manpower do they have? We know a signal was sent from the Sky Burners ship (currently wearing a dreadnaught) to the Cabal Empire, we also have Cayde's quote from the Shield Brothers Strike (which I'll paraphrase) "when a Legion heads off on a conquest they get kicked out of the empire, there's no going back". These boys play for keeps more effectively than the Chinese for crying out loud, Cabal Raid would have something to do with a fleet arriving off Saturn/wide jovian orbit with the intention of kicking EVRYONE's ass, regardless of the number of arms the owner possesses and whether or not they can see in the dark without additional equipment.

                    • Every cabal we've faced and exterminated so far were from one of the weakest fleets the Emperor controls.

                    • Well. The Cabal didn't run, in fact they were the only ones other than humanity to take the fight to the Dreadnaught. As for a raid. They sent for reinforcements from their emperor. The emperors would send an army capable of fighting such a powerful threat as the taken. They would be lead to earth. And a cabal, big army based, raid with huge machines aboard either a huge cabal ship, or a big military complex would be awesome.
PS: I didn't read much of the long text past the first paragraph. Sorry
• Ummm. They gave up the base on Phobos due to a lost battle. Once overrun, they gave up the position. And regrouped an assault onto the dreadnought itself with only one ship. One regiment... They are military. And surely a regiment is not the largest force they can muster. And to put that kind of a fight up is speaking about their ability. Plus they still hold Mars. The flayers put a fight up with Rasputin... The cabal are a formidable foe capable of putting up a real fight if the empire actually sends an appropriate force to assault the solar system. Sorry for any iPhone auto corrects.
