Edit: this is trending and now contains a lot of fun discussion about cabal lore and future raid (you know it's coming, don't be ridiculous). Feel free to join in.
The cabal ran off like scared kittens because Oryx showed up. We killed him, proving we are even stronger than Oryx, so why in the hell would they come back? I can see it now.
[Cutscene 1, Destiny DLC #4 titled "Cabals to the Wall, Man".
Interior: Cabal imperial cruiser, luxurious chambers. Emperor Valuke Smi'ith sits on a golden throne throwing silver at a screen when one of his generals enter]
"Sooooo Emperor sir. You remember that hideous Hive beast Oryx that was so powerful we had to cut our losses and abandon our conquest in that little shithole of a solar system? Turns out he's dead!"
"Excellent news Val Tra'acksuit. How did he meet his demise? Did he come across those invincible blind thrall on the balcony perhaps?"
"Negative, Emperor sir. Apparently the guardians that huddle in the tower on earth became so powerful through the knowledge Oryx kept close that they managed to destroy him. In fact, they took a piece of the god that dwelled within him and made A GUN out of it. A particularly nasty piece of work if my intel is correct sir."
"Well then, with Oryx gone, there is nothing stopping our conquest anymore. You tell our boys to turn back and resume the fighting."
"But Emperor sir, these guardians, surely they pose an even bigger threat than Oryx himself, to have bested him and even the god he served?"
"Preposterous! This makes perfect sense because of ambiguous reasons hidden in the grimoire cards."
"Emperor, please! We will all die!"
"Lol y u mad bro? Let's go!"

2 Repliesthey were tactically retreating. think about it: Oryx could take one of their units, and deploy it immediately against their former allies. that ability, is literally OP. imagine if you were playing chess, but you could spend a move stealing an enemy piece. how would you fight it? if you play conservatively then you'd keep your stronger pieces close to home and exhaust your smaller units fighting themeselves. then those big units you had reserved would get stolen. on the other hand if you deployed your big units right away they would be lost very quickly, at the best they would be just destroyed, but at the worst then they'd be reinforcements to your enemy. the Cabal fought none-the-less, jamming their ship into Oryx's dreadnaught, and even attempting to blow its core too. we tactically stopped them both, through military prowess AND superior intel. it also helped that we were immune to Oryx's Taken ability. also remember, just because paper can defeat rock, it does not mean paper can defeat scissors (unless your in a hive throneworld: THEN your working with sword logic.)

2 RepliesIts a game, we can already fly and go to Venus, that makes no sense. There are robots that can teleport.
-
They ran from Phobos, but they had the courage to board the dreadnaught and try to blow it up. Secondly, they're sending reinforcements. In one of the TTK missions, they sent out a transmission asking for more forces. Thirdly, after a number of embarrassing defeats (Ghost Fragment: Cabal 4, read the whole card, it's hilarious), they've figured a way to kill guardians. All that said, I find the Cabal boring, and would prefer another Vex raid.
-
1 ReplyIdk man Cabal are know to blow up planets The fleet sent our solar system was looking for something and got into a war with the vex later on taken. We started a war with them as well
we should've teamed up
They have sent a message to the empire I'm pretty sure they're pissed Raid going to be like: Cabal blows up earth/solar system Use vex tech to go back in time and stop cabal from blowing up earth FINAL BOSS: Giant Mega form Charizard (like shield brothers) And 3 giant psions
-
4 RepliesSecond, the main reason we were able to beat Oryx is our immunity to being Taken. Were it not for that, we'd have our souls ripped out of our body straight away. Sure, we'll still kill whoever they send eventually, but its not just a case of "X beat Y and Y beat Z, so X automatically beats Z"
-
The Cabal in our system were parts of rogue units. They weren't intending on returning to the empire. Or 'scouts'. They were the ones sending the distress call back to the Empire. We killed almost every high ranking Cabal soldier in the system. Oryx killed the others. At the very least, the Cabal will be receiving reinforcements in the command department. It would be foolish to assume we're safe from the Cabal just because we eliminated some commanders.
-
1 ReplyNow I'm imagining the "leader" of the cabal coming in on his ship firing Goliath missiles in the air, cabal flying around shooting making a beeline crash for the traveler. "Remember that beachfront on Oryx? Imma tear up the traveler a new asshole."
-
I just want battlefront II style space battles!!! I demand it!
-
15 RepliesCayde 6: you know, the cabal have six different words for advance and none for retreat? [Valus Mau'aul flees]
-
We killed there special units which need I remind you tried to blow up the drednaught.
-
1 ReplyThey should introduce a new cabal unit, phalanxes and psions are getting really old. A more agile cabal with a warhammer, but no jets
-
2 RepliesThe Cabal didn't run. They ran there ship into the Dreadnought. Sent a distress call into deep space to the high command and were about to blow the dreadnought until we stopped the Shield Brothers. Make no mistake guardians The Cabal are coming
-
5 RepliesYou realize with that thought process, guardians die but then get revived making every guardian basically immortal. So technically we shouldnt have even lost any war.
-
oryx defeated a forward outpost on Phobos gods know how far from their home, the amount he defeated might be significant to them
-
1 ReplyThe cabal in this solar system. There are more of them out there. All we've seen are low level grunts.
-
The faction of cabal we killed was already crumbled before oryx showed up they took the remaining forces and crashed it into the dreadnought there are still 3 factions of cabal left in the empire if im correct? All info from BYF's cabal lore video im no damn expert thats for sure. Maybe the other factions are much more geared and skilled then the ones we have faced.
-
bump!

The only way it would make sense is of we used the intercepted signal 'from way outside the solar system' to track their home world, and invade their territory. However, it's too early in the destiny saga to have that happen. Currently, the Fallen are weak. The cabal have retreated somewhat. The Hive are scared shitless. That leaves...... Vex. We don't even know if we are in a current time line, a future or past time line, a failed time line....what that even means.... I'm fascinated by the exo stranger and what's to come of that. I have a hypothesis. Who knows. I could be right.
-
9 RepliesTwo things OP. 1. If it's a raid, we will be the ones pursuing the Cabal. Whether they run or not, we're hunting them. 2. We've seen the exiles of the Cabal empire. Imagine the actual Armada, or Imperial forces and their glorious leader (hoping for a Cabal Empress/Queen. Because reasons).
-
1 ReplyGood read. You're right too. A Cabal raid would be pretty lame continuity-wise. We should have to fight the Emperor on his turf. Free the psions and any other sentient races they have control of. Make them the Vanguard's vanguard and take out Savathun and Xivu Arath.
-
My internet doesn't like these forums, so I have to split this across 2 posts. In the first mission, you can scan a computer terminal and Ghost mentions massive Cabal casualty reports from all legions in the system- upwards of 60-80%, IIRC. They didn't run, they were practically wiped out.
-
The cabal ran off like scared kittens because Oryx showed up.
The intentionally crashed their -blam!-ing plane into the Dreadnaught and attempted to blow up half the galaxy just to try to kill Oryx. That's pretty hardcore.
-
5 RepliesI'm excited for a Cabal raid. For once, it wouldn't have any space magic or time travel. It would be purely mechanical. The challenges would include gear, lever and pulley based puzzles to unlock doors, platforms and lifts. There could be an epic The Library-like elevator section. Think of Super Mario 64's Tick Tock Clock, except with guns. Sounds amazing to me.
-
4 RepliesVoG: giant vex time monster thing CE: hive warrior god KF: hive king mega-god It would be hard for the cabal to compete. Maybe some sort of massive mech/tank?
-
2 RepliesI'm not an expert in the lore, but would a raid involving the Wyrm(the space dragons) make any sense?
-
The Cabal ran? Only time I've seen them run was on Phobos, and that was due to pure chaos.
