Edit: this is trending and now contains a lot of fun discussion about cabal lore and future raid (you know it's coming, don't be ridiculous). Feel free to join in.
The cabal ran off like scared kittens because Oryx showed up. We killed him, proving we are even stronger than Oryx, so why in the hell would they come back? I can see it now.
[Cutscene 1, Destiny DLC #4 titled "Cabals to the Wall, Man".
Interior: Cabal imperial cruiser, luxurious chambers. Emperor Valuke Smi'ith sits on a golden throne throwing silver at a screen when one of his generals enter]
"Sooooo Emperor sir. You remember that hideous Hive beast Oryx that was so powerful we had to cut our losses and abandon our conquest in that little shithole of a solar system? Turns out he's dead!"
"Excellent news Val Tra'acksuit. How did he meet his demise? Did he come across those invincible blind thrall on the balcony perhaps?"
"Negative, Emperor sir. Apparently the guardians that huddle in the tower on earth became so powerful through the knowledge Oryx kept close that they managed to destroy him. In fact, they took a piece of the god that dwelled within him and made A GUN out of it. A particularly nasty piece of work if my intel is correct sir."
"Well then, with Oryx gone, there is nothing stopping our conquest anymore. You tell our boys to turn back and resume the fighting."
"But Emperor sir, these guardians, surely they pose an even bigger threat than Oryx himself, to have bested him and even the god he served?"
"Preposterous! This makes perfect sense because of ambiguous reasons hidden in the grimoire cards."
"Emperor, please! We will all die!"
"Lol y u mad bro? Let's go!"

They feared Oryx because he could 'take' his enemies from anywhere at any time. He was essentially omnipotent. Guardians are not even close to that. We have to show up to wreck things. Far less risky for a group like the Cabal. They know we have to kill everything between us and them to kill their leadership. Given the size of their forces vs a faction like the Fallen, I'd say that will be an interesting raid and that I better kill at least 1000 Cabal per run.

99 problems but a smith aint one

2 Replies*my answer to.the cabal raid idea.
-
2 RepliesEdited by Kiphibam: 1/18/2016 5:26:52 AMWell In the bro strike, they did say there was a signal outside the solar system. So who knows
-
2 RepliesThe entire raid should just be a long bridge lined with invisible and invincible phalanxes
-
3 Replieswhy would they even bother to make a new raid when you guys pay the same money for a book which lasts 2 weeks and a few silly emotes that were cut from the original game , now expect more of the same BS you supported with your wallets
-
HAHAHAHA! LOL! XD i love you and this post!
-
4 RepliesWhy would we even do another raid? Meaningless gear with cabal based perk that would render oryx raid useless because of a higher light level Worthless gun that are only directed at making cabal easier to take on The release off a hand full of new exotics and rehashed old ones New grimore items with readable lore Back in the day i was like NEW RAID!!! YEEEAAA!!! Now the only raid im interested in is the dark zone which is a mere month away

Edited by loonigus: 1/18/2016 9:02:27 AMWe need dat Cabal bonus damage perk m8! Also a Phalanx where even his shield holds a shield! And a bonus elemental damage shield like the PoE Cabal boss. The reward after killing that boss will be the Cabal consumable! PROFIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
2 RepliesThey sent out a call for reinforcements. They won't know we killed Oryx till they get here. Also once Cabal are sent to war, they're not allowed to return until they win. Banished on deployment, unbanished upon victory. They either win or die. There's no option for them to run back home. Sure they can fall back to another location but just not home.

the cabal in our system is only a small portion of the cabal empire, i don't even think they are a part of the empire anymore.
-
You sir underestimate the cabal. The ones in our solar system literally had no idea what they were getting into when they came. Expecting just another average system to conquer they came painfully unprepared for the craziness going on. So of course they would get spanked by a god. But the cabal empire has an entire galaxy in their massive turtle hands. An entire galaxy of resources, if our little system can hold all the insanity we are aware of then think of the countless duck penis crazy crap at their disposal.
Still I chuckled
1 ReplyLol thank you. This was actually pretty funny
-
Man..I just want a taken shader lol

Val tra'acksuit
-
Cabal don't run, they just advance the other way...
-
What if we defended a cabal attack in the last city/tower and fight on the city below the tower
-
It would make some sense.
-
Cabal made it on to the dreadnought before we guardians did and with out a cloaking device.
-
5 RepliesYou realize that they made a direct assault on the dreadnaught, right? They left a base on phobos that was overrun by taken, but they didn't actually retreat. They created a beach head for an invasion.
-
-
2 RepliesI assume the cabal in our system weren't the best in class soldiers because they knew humanity was on the brink so they didn't have to worry too much about us, so I think they have much stronger forces closer to their center.
-
They literally tried Nuking it until we showed up... They retreated because we killed their commanders and practically stopped their plan...
-
1 ReplyA giant phalanx that can shoot unflinching angry phalanx that have match game shields as well. It takes place on a open platform area. No places to hide. No walls to stop you from falling off of getting sky launched.
-
1 ReplyThey didn't fun they crashed their own ship in to them!
-
2 Repliesthey were tactically retreating. think about it: Oryx could take one of their units, and deploy it immediately against their former allies. that ability, is literally OP. imagine if you were playing chess, but you could spend a move stealing an enemy piece. how would you fight it? if you play conservatively then you'd keep your stronger pieces close to home and exhaust your smaller units fighting themeselves. then those big units you had reserved would get stolen. on the other hand if you deployed your big units right away they would be lost very quickly, at the best they would be just destroyed, but at the worst then they'd be reinforcements to your enemy. the Cabal fought none-the-less, jamming their ship into Oryx's dreadnaught, and even attempting to blow its core too. we tactically stopped them both, through military prowess AND superior intel. it also helped that we were immune to Oryx's Taken ability. also remember, just because paper can defeat rock, it does not mean paper can defeat scissors (unless your in a hive throneworld: THEN your working with sword logic.)
