Thanks Bungie, I'm so glad I played Iron Banner ;)
Started playing 2 days ago. I was going to avoid playing Iron Banner because of the Level Advantages Enabled, being totally out-gunned and people crying on here "What's the point of playing Iron Banner"
Well, being 213 Light, armed only with the Apple of Discord (Lucky drop from lv36 strike) and a 190 Matuta RR4 Sniper rifle, I was surprised at the damage I was doing to some of these Lv40 / 300+ people, and the rewards I was getting. (Bet there was a lot of WTF???? and salty guardians being downed by a noob.)
I have just made it to IB Rank 5. The package gave me 313 Boots, 310 Ghost Shell and a 310 Artifact. Even had enough marks to buy the 280 Chest and Gauntlets.
Time to try my RNG luck on the Nightfall and get an exotic.

I'm not saying PVP players don't deserve rewards, Trials of Osiris is completely fine how it is, however IB dropping gear up to 320 was annoying. IB has no play cap, you can run it all day long for an entire week once a month, making your chances for loot extremely higher; while the raid has a weekly reset, making it extremely hard to get gear, especially when bosses don't always drop loot. Also only certain bosses drop certain items, so if you're looking for something specific you typically only get 4-8 chances a week. IB on the other hand you can play 40 matches a day, go .2 and lose all day and still come out with 310+ gear in every slot. I know it sounds salty and maybe it is, I just don't think IB should drop 310+ unless it's capped by skill or a certain number of drops a month. Also trials, which is much more skill based, doesn't give anywhere near the loot that IB rewards. Edit: Congrats on your gear tho, that's a very nice haul. Also I hit rank 5 and played a significant amount of time afterwards, the only loot I got was 312 boots from my rank 5 package, which is quite upsetting as I was topping many matches.

My friend bob sackamanno got a 320 ghost shell but his girlfriend dismantled it when she realized bob didnt even know her name!

I had a good time, too. This was the first IB in a long time I was motivated to keep playing after Rank 5. The gear looks nice, Ghost drops were super useful, even if they were mostly infusion fuel. My Hunter IB artifact has 92 Discipline. Totally worth the experience.

1 ReplyI played all week and got Chest, Gauntlets, Legs, Ghosts (5) and both the hand cannon and machine gun! All the armor got me to 300+!!! Note: After getting the lvl 5 package I played another 3 and a half days for mostly nothing. Still it was fun. Next time, two Titans to have a better chance for the Helm.

I too had a good iron banner. Got the 310 ghost, 312 boots and all the weapons dropped without me spending 1 legendary mark and got to rank 5 by Saturday. Gutted i didn't get the ship but I really enjoyed playing IB this time (even with the 0.2 KD thrashings) and looking forward to the next one.

Yeah this latest Iron Banner was awesome. Lots of fun and balanced games and lots of excellent rewards. I had a great time. Thrilled that I got one of the new helmets. Love the aesthetics of the Iron Banner armor.

They really made it much better than the last Y2 IB! My first level 5 Package gave me a 320 fusion rifle; my first 320 anything! Kudos to Bungie for finally addressing a valid complaint in an entirely satisfactory manner! Now if they could focus on the gameplay issues that have plagued this game since day one instead of worrying about cosmetic money grabs, they might just keep more of their core players from leaving...

My titan was already 300 before this but it made me a comfortable 305. and my hunter and warlock are both at 300 now too. so finally 3 300+s and have 0 raids. But boy oh boy was I missing out on those buff days. I grinded my hunter tues-fri 0-5. But Saturday when I got on my titan: 0-3.5 justlikethat. 2 weeklies sealed that road to 5. Then my warlock on monday, 3 dailies and 3 weeklies = 0-5 justlikethat. still have one weekly completed but not turned in. I've been negative towards Iron Banner after the last one, however, I played enough to get a couple of decent drops myself and it has certainly made up for any issues last time. Even if it's crappy drops, just the fact that they upped the amount of them has made a pretty big difference. Glad other Guardians are also feeling some love from Iron Banner.

Well it's back to my unbelievable sniping with Queensbreaker Bow.....using it in IB sucks alot. Still want that confirmation for the Queensbreaker Bow Year 2 version. Using that beauty is awesome when having a sniper battle with friends in Rumble. I pretty much dominate with it xD

Iron Banner made me sad. I got my chest and gauntlets via Saladin. But the rank 5 package was a 310 ghost and a horibble rocket launcher.

18 RepliesDont get carried away by fourms. IB is the best PvP to level up and last one was the only one not worth it. That is Raid level gear, and now you can Raid to level up to 320.

It bumped me up on light level across all characters very nicely. And I got the ship and weapons. So for someone who does not care for the new raid.... Very happy.

Iron banner finally did good...i played all week got everything except the ship im pretty sad but cant complain i got everything else wayyy too many ghost though lol
