Just got ripped of by xur
I just spent 31 spent strange coins on the weapons engram as don't have any year 2 exotic and got a year 1 exotic what good is a 160 weapon when even the normal green weapons are all over 190 so I wouldn't bother buying any exotic engrams cus you're basically paying 31 strange coins for a exotic shard pissed right of bollocks I'm buying star wars this week

Once an exotic is discovered you won't get it again, the only way to Guarentee year two's from xur is have all the year ones discovered, use 1 three if coins every two strikes, if you don't get one it increases the chance your nxt three of coins will drop an exotic. I've found plenty of exotics through strikes + coins

Edit: for those of you who were not lucky enough to get the old elder ciphers, the weapons that came from those missions are also available from legacies. I don't know if you can get nechrochasm and vex from them as well, but I can imagine you can. Just so you know.

Did you happen to read the description before buying? It's meant to give year 1 gear, at year 1 power. There's a reason it's called a Legacy Engram.

Its called a legacy engram. While it may seem useless, bungie now track which exotics you already have and increase the chances on undiscovered exotics. It may seem shitty having to spend 31 on a 160 light weapon, but its all for the grimoire dude. I buy them often just because im a completionist. Good news is, theyre bringing lots of legacy weapons and armor back in december. This means if you discover a weapon through legacy engrams, you can buy the year 2 version for 150 marks at the exotic board. A bit more incentive to spend so many coins. It does seem over-priced
