Shotguns are completely useless!
Thanks to bungie us who like to use close quarters as our way of playing are getting a swift foot up the ass. We are now going to see even more camping snipers in pvp. I feel like trials of Osiris this week is going to suck tremendously.
Running and gunning with a shot gun was honestly a fun way to play. It took a more tactical approach. You had to sneak up on your enemy or distract them some how to get close enough to mow them down.
But now with the latest patch they are just giving those who like to sit back and camp with snipers in long lines of site and even easier time. I am glad though that they took out the luck in the chamber shot though!
edit #1: people saying it doesn't take skill to use a shot gun. In all honesty if you let someone get close enough to you with a shotgun and you complain about dying the. It is your skill that had been out matched. I do not shot gun all the time either. I play both long range, short range, and medium range.
I read the map see what will be my best method of attack and that determines my guns that I will equip. But yes a shot gun does take skill you have to be able to get close enough to your enemy for it to be effective.
Edit #2: to all of you saying it's because I blink shot gun. No I do not blink shot gun it's a stupid method and I do not use it.

2 RepliesMaybe im crazy, maybe I just don't know guns enough, maybe I just don't play enough crucible, but in all the shotgun kills i've seen and been victim to, I have never ever said to myself "thats bs, he shouldnt be able to kill me with a shotgun from that range". I HAVE said plenty times that guardians have pulled off their shotgun shot way too fast (like in a blink of an eye). I've also cursed at my TV plenty times from hitting a target from like 4 feet away multiple times and watching them eat those shots like they were Twinkies, and stay alive! Destiny is the ONLY game I've played where you have to be basically within arms reach of your target to do any significant damage with a shotgun, which (if you've actually used a shotgun in real life) is complete garbage. So personally I really dont understand the constant nerfing to the range, and its painfully obvious they keep doing it solely because of crucible. IMHO, what they need to do in Crucible is introduce some sort of minor stagger effect for close shotgun blasts (as they're meant to do) and reduce the damage output at close range (especially for auto-shotties, for obvious reasons). Make it so that shotguns aren't solely relied upon to be one hitters. To me THAT'S the problem: if your shotgun blast doesn't kill in one hit it's utterly useless (in crucible) and gets you killed almost guaranteed because you're so damn close to your target. The stagger effect doesnt have to be pronounced, in fact it could just be so that it shakes your victim's reticule for a few frames when they're hit. But what do I know....I just want shotguns to work more realistically. But seriously, nerfing the range HAS NOT and WILL NOT fix the shotgun problems in crucible. They keep thinking it will, but it won't, and they can only nerf the range but so much more...

Trials will be shit this week? The patch isn't until December they didn't even announce the date yet play with your shotgun while you can it'll be ok because no matter what people will still continue to use shotguns, ok it got a range Nerf so what my invective will continue to put every round in you if I have to. -blam!- it I'll even go back to blinking if I need to get closer

I hear ya, this looks like overkill. If it was just a range Nerf that's one thing, but all the slow downs too. It's a December patch, I guess it's time to dust off the fusion rifle

Thankfully I have a 1000YS with hidden hand and short gaze. Now we can all just stand at the back of the map and take potshots at each other till we have to go hunt ammo. Doesn't that sound like fun?

If you see the astronomical amount of people that go around nothing but a shotgun you would understand why they are doing this. Some people, I don't even know what primary they have because all they use is a shotgun. Especially titans going around skating and coming at people at ridiculous speeds. This was needed. This will stop people running around soley with this weapon.
