Prior to TTK, it was possible to achieve the highest character level without ever having to LFG and without ever being forced to play with anyone else at all. It was a grind that took a couple of months for each character because multiple Iron Banners were needed, but the highest level was achievable playing 100% solo. Does such a path still exist for solo players?
EDIT1: I just asked a question. The majority of people making comments have made assumptions about why I asked the question and then criticized me for what they imagined were my motivations. To all of those people; you represent what is most wrong with this community and you are too lazy to even check tracker to confirm your "imagined reality" before insulting people based on your delusions.

Dude, you want to have great fun running solo? Play FO4. Best fun in gaming I've had in months.

Edited by RaGnArOk30: 11/18/2015 2:09:52 PMI used to play Destiny solo all the time, and you're right in the past you could achieve quite a bit simply playing solo. (You can still get awesome awards by doing Lord Shaxx quests) and you can solo Nightfalls (I used to do them solo). Just like yourself I used to use IB to get high level gear just by playing solo... HOWEVER, once I started raiding with friends and playing with friends in general, I don't ever want to go back to being a solo only player. Honestly and truthfully, if you aren't playing with at least one friend, you're missing out on much of the fun that Destiny offers. It's designed to be a muliplayer game as a whole, and it is the most fun, when you are playing it as such.

I hope you're not holding your breath for a Bungie response, they're too busy loitering in less meaningful, unproductive threads and swapping halfassed jokes so everyone can drop an "lol."
-
5 RepliesI do not understand the animosity displayed in this thread. Y1 allowed for solo advancement. Why not Y2? IMO, the OP's point is just one more example of poor management and community engagement by Bungie. Another poor decision. Another nerf to freedom of game play. Bungie's new, secret mantra is "play our way."

11 RepliesI agree, maybe thats why a lot of peeps are looking at/playing Fallout4? Destiny needs a path for all types of players.
-
3 RepliesGet friends. Problem solved. Don't know why you purchased a heavily based online game when you want to play solo.

1 ReplyEdited by Ve7n00m: 11/18/2015 12:16:44 PMNight falls should be changed to be solo only and contain bosses similar to the Black spindle mission boss fight (without the time limit but with returning to orbit upon death) and offer 310+ gear (nightfall specific) and weapons (nightfall specific) upon completion. That should be the end game avanue for solo players!
-
I took the path to Fallout 4, bungie lead me there...

It's always been tough for solo or casual players. The fix is possible. End game raids and ToO are team based activities that should remain team only (no matchmaking). They should have unique gear with high light levels and special perks. ALL other content, quests, bounties should be optional matchmaking. All engrams should have the chance to decode at +10 /-20 of your current level. Similar to the way it does now but without the BS 300 phantom celiling. That way end game players get leveled faster and have unique gear with perks, but max level is still achievable for solo players. The solo players just have to grind longer and will not be able to get the End Game gear. Some are going to say...solo people can do that now if they work really hard, do nightfall (not always possible to complete solo), and pray real hard to RNGesus. Not realistic unless they make NF matchmaking and remove the 300 block.
-
Coming from someone in full raid gear...
-
What's the point of reaching the highest level if your not going to do most of the end game content? You should be happy with being 290 for the nightfalls lol
-
Ok I have found a solution! Don't play with duchies and find people you actually want to play with don't get on lfg go to the tower and invite people to your game find people you enjoy talking too
-
Finish the PvP Quest and play PvP. Endgame gear there can drop above 300 Light.
-
5 RepliesA better question: Why would a solo player need the highest character level?
-
No. That's what was wrong with the last few expansions. It was way too easy to pick up max level gear. If it was easy for the random single players, imagine how lackluster it was for the people that devoted time to the game. Got boring really fast. That's the whole reason I took a 6 month break after HoW. There wasn't anything really to do.
-
Soloing the nightfall CAN be done now that you don't get yanked to orbit all the time, so I would suggest that. Or do the iron banner without a fireteam.
-
I think you need fallout 4. That's a 1 player game. Destiny is not
-
Bump.
-
This is not a solo game. Go play something else

Prior to TTK, it was possible to achieve the highest character level without ever having to LFG and without ever being forced to play with obnoxious-disgusting-immature elitist douche bags at all. TRUE. It was a grind that took a couple of months for each character because multiple Iron Banners were needed, but the highest level was achievable playing 100% solo. TRUE. Does such a path still exist for solo players? NO.
-
1 ReplySo what's the point? What do you want to be max level for exactly? Nightfalls 3 times a week? Iron Banner once a month? That's the "endgame" content you're limited to as a solo player, sir. You don't need to be 320 for that... Lol even raiders can't achieve that with that broken loot system.
