I'm going to attempt to explain it one last time for those of you who don't grasp the concept that the door is the front of the room.
when you walk in the door you are at the front of the room, just because oryx spawns at the other end does not mean he is the front, he is simply an inhabitant of the room, he does not change the room what so ever. when you enter the room, say oryx does not exist, the left and right platforms are the front most, why? it is because they are closest to the front, aka, the door! you all are simply confusing oryx as a meaningful figure in the layout of the room
English
-
None of that matters to me. In my opinion, the platforms should be labeled in a way that makes sense if you were giving someone directions. Place a guardian in the middle of the 4 platforms, facing oryx's spawn point. Now tell him to move to his front right. He goes forward and to the right, so that is the front right platform.
-
or as soon as he walks into the room tell him to walk to the back right?
-
If i blindfolded you and told you to walk back and to your right, which way would you go? That response is reflexive, nearly instant, and requires little cognition. The other logical arguments, while valid, require spacial memory and additional cognition.
-
I associate back right with the right platform farthest from the from of the room, the door. blindfolding isn't a logical argument
-
What do you mean its not a logical argument? It is the simplest form of directions possible: remove all points of reference and move based solely on forward, back, right and left instructions. Its a staple at many team building retreats and seminars: create an obstacle course and guide a blindfolded teammate with only your voice. Thats a directly relatable analogy to what we are talking about, yet you dismiss it as "illogical" because it is against your agenda?
-
if you want to use the blindfold example then be my guest, but you must start them at the entrance to the room. where do you think they will go if you say back platform, even front will confuse some of the less intelligent people who think front means the furthest from them
-
According to the rest of this thread most of them will react the same way i do. You seem to be in the minority.
-
you're on the bungie forums, finding intelligent life is a struggle.
-
I completely agree. Oryx is at the back of the room and front of the ship. Those 2 things are not synonymous.

I hope you ask for front row tickets to a concert one day and they give you tickets all the way back in the last row just because that's where the door happens to be...
-
you must be stupid lmfao
-
Also, you should learn the difference between commas and periods sometime. Believe it or not, they're not interchangeable and each one has its own purpose.
-
where did I use one incorrectly?
-
You know, I originally started off my previous reply with "You're a special kind of dense aren't ya?" but I removed it before posting because I didn't see any reason for name-calling. But since you want to go there... And no, I'm pretty well educated. I've got a bachelors degree and am a software developer for a fortune 200 oil and gas company. It's you that isn't grasping the concept. And you know, technically, if we're talking strictly architecture then I can see how people could call the area with the door the front. But here's the thing. We're not there to admire the room. We're there to fight Oryx. The only reason during the battle to be calling out front and back is to know where to go during the fight. Oryx is the focal point just like in a movie theater. If everyone is looking at Oryx, then he is at the front (of the fight taking place).
-
you just stated my point is valid, the entirety of this post; I suggest you read it. we are talking purely and solely about the room, oryx spawns in the back of the room.
-
Hahaha this ^^ awesome!
-
Well you are near the prow of his ship as well. The front of it. So oryx is actually closer to the front in that sense
-
of the ship yes. but is the room the entire ship?
-
Wrong type of room. When you walk in your bedroom, your at the front. When you walk into a ballroom or a concert hall, your at the back.
-
you're still at the front, the room design means nothing unless the room slopes downward like a movie theatre, I see your point but oryx's lair is just a plain room
-
Old outdoor theaters never had sloped seats, they had raised and sloped stages.
-
Oryx is a king in a castle. When you enter the Kings hall you face the king, at the front of the hall
-
If Oryx was a preacher why would he be at the back of the room?
-
he isn't a preacher, even if he was, when you enter a church the preacher performs his sermon and the back of the room
