Intelligent gamers appreciate what Bungie is doing with Destiny
I have been gaming since Infidel, Ultima, Island of Kesmai, etc....Long before most of you were born. In fact, I have shoes that are older than most of you. I have played hundreds, if not thousands, of games, including almost all of the major game franchises on all of the major game platforms. Not bragging. Just stating.
What Bungie is trying to do with Destiny is not totally new, but their effort to create a tight synergy with their users and a rapid development cycle to incorporate user input is really pretty unique.
Given the resources it takes to keep support and development allocated to this approach, the real question is can they make the business model work. (Queue the silver transactions).
My feeling is that most young people these days are too petty and ignorant to notice the subtle differences between something like Destiny and Borderlands/Farcry/AssasinsCreed/WoW/Falout/Blah/Blah/Blah/Etc...
Do you notice the frequent dialog updates from the voice talent in Desitiny? "No, man, the dialog sucks, but I listen to music while I play...". Yup, our "intelligent" youth in action...
"Naw, man, game XXX is much more awesomeness". OK, how short is the path between you and the developer? Do you get weekly updates, course corrections, and tweeks? Of course you don't. Do you care?
I am not saying that Destiny is the best game I have ever played, but I do feel that its bold approach to direct player input for gameplay adaptation is hugely underappreciated, and ultimately, is the future of gaming if the business model can be worked out.
My opinion is that, sadly, Bungie is trying to sell its nascent, manual, "game AI" to an audience that simply doesnt have enough of an attention span to appreciate it.

Frequent dialogue updates? You playing a different game to me? The dark below - 1 Eris Morn ONLY The house of Wolves - Variks and Petra The taken king - new voice however is this just part of the content that was held back from initial launch? It seems unusual to me that they could have gotten ALL of these voice actors back for new lines. Especially when so many of them have active commitments. If you ask me, the only new dialogue for the taken king was Nolan North coming in to rewrite dinklage. Does it not seem unusual that there are missions with no dialogue whatsoever? Aside from that, I disagree with you anyway. I've played most of the games you've mentioned. Destiny can't be put in the same bracket. They game is getting destroyed from the inside out.

To be fair, void destroyer exceeds the standards you set. The dialog sets up a clear characterization and is witty. And if you ask how close the players are to the makers of the game, go to their forum. One actually changed settings around in the game after I said there were some buttons that weren't being used that I would have preferred to use for movement controls. He said it was a good idea and implemented it immediately. I know what your trying to say. But with as much money as we've put in destiny individually, it's understandable why so many are disappointed at the lack of content.

I agree on all parts except constant bashing on youth. It's not just youth that are the problem, young/middle-aged adults complain, too. I, for one, think it's rather immature for a matured adult to bash on teenagers and younger kids. They haven't had the time to mature like we have, give them a break. The ones that need the "scolding" to are the older people who complain about things that you pointed out.

Being as how everything Bungie has done recently has been to the detriment of the player, I don't think there is a synergy. The path between us and the developer is actually quite large ... have you ever tried to get real support for a technical problem with the game? The top things brought up by the community are totally ignored, or worse, sarcastically thrown in our face by said developer...

You are well spoken, but with that being said you're a complete moron if that is how you feel. Dialog, really dialog. Who cares about that? That is the only defense you have for a game that could have been one of the best ever, but instead was ruined with timegate items/quest, lackluster story, lots of grind for zero in return, nerf's, buffs, the list goes on and on. I know you are entitled to you're opinion, and that is fine. But I really can not understand it at all.

Dude you're a full blown retard if you think destiny is even remotely comparable to the beat games of all time. It is not a game changer - it's not even that unique. They've run off a ton of their foundational player base and removed the relevance of basically all original content. Countless games over the years have "tried" to do something original and great and very few succeed - those that do are the ones we remember. The ones that make the top 25 lists of all time. This will not be anywhere near those in ten years. Judging from the games you claim to have played, we are around the same age and I have played an equal number of games. I've seen how this goes and destiny is a marketing ploy that's run dry. That's all there is to it.

Sadly my friend I was agreed with you until the part where you said the listen and integrate player input. They don't integrate on player input. They see what the players want and need to make the none stop grind less horrible and they completely dismantle it. Look at next weeks IB. That is going to be total chaos. It's gonna be back of the map camp city.

Doubters please ask yourself this, who in the hell wastes time commenting on forums coming up with catchphrases such "Blah blah will kill Destiny" and the many other trends that we have all grown accustomed to? How many of us have used the terms: "Git Gud" "Scrub" "RNGesus" "Kinderguardian" "Vanilla" "Year 1" We all need to take a step back from the bashing and look at what Destiny has brought us: Reset Tuesday's, Armsday Wednesday's, Trials Weekend, Xur Friday's, Daily and Weekly Bounties, Raids. Now think of a AAA game on the market that has as much to offer.......... So many in the community shit on this game, the truth is if it was that bad we would all stop playing and move on. Think about a game you actually thought was crap........ Did you continue to play it? Did you get on forums explaining about how you are done with it? Destiny is a solid shooter with the benefits of regular updates and changes. The appreciation for an ever improving game is lacking on scale I have never experienced. The internet has turned alot of gamers into whiners with mammoth expectations, which in all honesty were never there before Destiny was released. Also to those "Killed Destiny" posters, for the love of God ever heard of a games collection.
