Intelligent gamers appreciate what Bungie is doing with Destiny
I have been gaming since Infidel, Ultima, Island of Kesmai, etc....Long before most of you were born. In fact, I have shoes that are older than most of you. I have played hundreds, if not thousands, of games, including almost all of the major game franchises on all of the major game platforms. Not bragging. Just stating.
What Bungie is trying to do with Destiny is not totally new, but their effort to create a tight synergy with their users and a rapid development cycle to incorporate user input is really pretty unique.
Given the resources it takes to keep support and development allocated to this approach, the real question is can they make the business model work. (Queue the silver transactions).
My feeling is that most young people these days are too petty and ignorant to notice the subtle differences between something like Destiny and Borderlands/Farcry/AssasinsCreed/WoW/Falout/Blah/Blah/Blah/Etc...
Do you notice the frequent dialog updates from the voice talent in Desitiny? "No, man, the dialog sucks, but I listen to music while I play...". Yup, our "intelligent" youth in action...
"Naw, man, game XXX is much more awesomeness". OK, how short is the path between you and the developer? Do you get weekly updates, course corrections, and tweeks? Of course you don't. Do you care?
I am not saying that Destiny is the best game I have ever played, but I do feel that its bold approach to direct player input for gameplay adaptation is hugely underappreciated, and ultimately, is the future of gaming if the business model can be worked out.
My opinion is that, sadly, Bungie is trying to sell its nascent, manual, "game AI" to an audience that simply doesnt have enough of an attention span to appreciate it.

I appreciated what Bungie attempted with Destiny. I don't appreciate what they put out though, at least not the DLC side of it.

I would rather a good freaking game to play rather then weekly updates? I paid for a game not freaking updates? This post is BS Bungie just wants your money admit it, Destiny is fun, was fun any ways, they need to act quick before most people leave which evidentially is happening weather anyone likes it or not they are loosing players, I love destiny and when I get enough money for fallout that is what Ill be playing until the next DLC. Only one person to blame and that isn't "unintelligent people" that is Bungie and Bungie alone.

When I bought the game the requirements to play the game were simple, a Ps4, dual shock 4 controller, Internet access and enough space on the hdd. Where did it say a laptop, smart phone or tablet? Can anyone pick up this game and play it fully without an external device to get a fireteam?

Ok now that I've been given the go ahead to fantastic 4 on you,- Bungie doesn't have a unique business model of anything. Refer a friend isn't new. Micro transactions isn't new. A "live team" whom took a year to balance the PvP in year 1 isn't even a good team. To even insinuate that we get free weekly updates is a load of horse shit. But the best part is there is several companies who have all the best features, and we spend our time playing destiny instead? No, that specifically is why everyone is moving to other games. Destiny was a scam from the start with no proper game competition until now, and now they're resorting to refer-a-friend and micro transactions to support their funds instead of actually improving the quality of their shit game. RuneScape; for example. This game has been out since 2001, well over 10 years and past the scope of Bungie's 10 year contract. They have 200 quests which take hours upon hours each of cinematics and storylines, linear progression without RNG, more players in social spaces, a live team which updates RuneScape every week with a new content such as a new quest. Bungie ought to learn from RuneScape. They honestly do almost everything right for an MMO. The only thing RuneScape messed up was their introduction to microtransactions, which killed 3/4 of the playerbase-they started off cosmetic and went game breaking- destiny is already on this path and will -blam!- up their playerbase too. Guarantee you in 3 years Bungie will ruin most sense of achievement with their micros.

I'm with you, there is a lot of work put into this game and people don't seem to see the difference. If you want to talk grind, go play an MMO for anything. Destiny is new and you should grind for some things, it should take you time and effort to get something you really want. Other games like halo and fallout aren't designed to be played for years, but they are trying to design destiny to be played for years. If you aren't willing to put in time and effort for something you really want, then destiny just isn't going to be your game. Destiny is a nice mix of MMO qualities and FPS qualities and one of the best games out there, and shows it by the numbers. People talk about it dying but hundreds of thousands of players are playing.

TL;DR but, I did see you insult people's intelligence several times. Bungie does some great stuff, and then they suck some stuff up pretty bad. Like making 5,000 different weapons. They all drop at 270-290 but aren't useful unless at 300+, but you can only upgrade it with weapons parts. Which they made next to impossible to farm enough unless you are only dependent on one gun. Which defeats the purpose of having so many guns to begin with. That's a poor move.

Bravo. the "community" always tries to act like Bungie is betraying them with things that "no other game does", most notably WoW (since they share MMO aspects). but NO WoW player has ever said any of the things "they" say. WoW players laugh at loot complaints while swimming in max light with least stress. I do agree that its pretty much this generation (spits on floor). DeeJ makes a clever remark about "weapon parts famine" and suddenly everybody's PERSONALLY offended! whats next? "they" gonna take up pitch-forks for Cozmo saying DeeJ will be back for us to pick on? KIDS THESE DAYS!!
