How are people suppose to get experience when no one wants to help people out? Its like job hunting... "we want people but you need experience which we are not gonna give you"
Year one was good... everyone was willing to help there fellow man out... now its just full of selfish people.
Edit: Since posting this i have discovered that not all people asshats... so im not labeling the whole destiny community... just the elitist that forgot that everyone started somewhere.
Thank you to those that helped me through the raid tonight and those that offered afterwards... now that i have a bit of experience i would be glad to offer help to those in need of it..
Xbox one Gt same as above... the O in roy is a zero feel free to add me.
Edit Edit: yes i have looked at videos... no i didnt expect to be carried. Yes i know about lfg. Yes i have a raiding party already who are unfortunatley away atm.
Save yourself the trouble of repeating what many other people have already stated.

5 RepliesIt takes longer to find people but u will find people. First of all don't expect a fireteam of elites to take you in, if ur new to the raid then expect other noobs too. There are still plenty of people who haven't done the raid
-
bs I put up a raid for newbies in the virgin 360 raid finder I got one msg in an hour pretty pathetic. people just want to be carried
-
I've been a sherpa for all but two of my raids for TTK. And those times I had to look for people because I needed to do fast raids. There are people willing to help you just need to find them.
-
It's because TTK is still new IMO. People want to play with their fireteam/friends and the raid still takes some organized teams over an hour and a half. A month from now people will know everything inside out and be more willing to help out of boredom.
-
I completely agree. This game has made the grind worse and the players have turned against each other. Why help any one out when you could be done with an activity in half the time? I also noticed there's no "gjallarhorn moment". You guys know what I mean. The moment that that one elusive exotic drops and it feels like Christmas. What's the year two equivalent of that? By putting quests to every exotic you take out what really made destiny, destiny, imo.
-
Clans, man. Join a clan if you want a group to run through things with. I don't feel obligated to help any random I meet, but my clan mates, I'll drop what I'm doing to help them out with something if I am able.
-
Awesome man!!! Glad you got a raid run in. There are some really good people in these forums!!
-
Year 1 was exactly the same imo. And year 3 will be the same too. If I ask 30 people in my friends list to help me with no matter what and when they don't benefit from it, at best 1 of them joins to help me. If it's tuesday 11 AM (reset time in my timezone) and I ask 30 people to help me with nightfall, 10 people want to join me because they benefit from it. That's just how people are.

The problem with this is that it's a double edged sword. Sometimes this help requires having to teach mechanics, having to do trial and error for hours at a time. Especially when these people that require help have access to guides and videos. They don't put the effort to learn and just want to be told by others. We are in no way obligated to help either. Since we put our own effort to learn and win, then those who demand help and calling people assholes cuz they don't well understand their point of view as well. There are people at 287-289 that want to run the raid but consider that many who ran the raid when it first came along were at 291-292 and learned. Now those people at 287-289 are being too lazy to get up just a couple light levels and want people to carry them to get easy light. This game is about grinding and effort. Once we have gotten past that point and have to just grind and grind we want to do it with the least amount of tediousness as possible. Especially since everything it's so repetitive. If you find it difficult to join groups, build your own. You have the tools to do it. Many people are more than willing to help. But you also have to put the effort to find those people.
-
It's honestly all about time.
-
19 RepliesMaybe they shouldn't have made the game in a way that makes certain parts of the game achievable only by needing other's help. Can understand the raid needing multiple people, but no quests should require a fire team.
-
Judging people based on how they spend there time? Everyone has other commitments outside of Destiny, a capable group can knock out Kings Fall in under an hour. Trying to help a group of inexperienced players through it all can go upwards of 2+ hours. Everyone starts at the same point; because you haven't invested as much time as others, you expect them to potentially waste there's on somebody they will most likely never talk to again? If you have a problem with that, host your own group.

2 RepliesIf you dont know what counter clockwise is... your dead to me. But other than that, 280 light and I will help you!

The thing about this raid compared to VoG and Crota, is a there isn't much room to carry. Yes, a full team of 300s can carry someone, but if that person spends 30 minutes at each big jumping puzzle, dies a couple times during the totem run causing a wipe and gets chosen as a runner at sisters and fails, that 50 minute run can easily turn into a 2+ hour run, even with a competent newbie raider that listens. In VoG, that person will probably only need to do work at Atheon, and even then only a single person is needed to take down oracles. In Crota, you can easily carry 3-4 people if they know how to follow directions. Carrying these people usually won't impact the raid time-wise ad much as KF, and most of the time spent teaching (if any) would be at the very end. And most people who were fed up with noobs would leave at Atheon and Crota and finish up by posting last boss check points on LFG. But either way, when hard mode comes out, you can expect more sherpas helping people in normal. They'll be better equipped to cover for any DPS issues, which is usually the main problem when it comes to Oryx.

When it comes to the raid. People not wanting to help, is because of how crappy the loot system for the raid is. Why take hours carrying people through it for no reward, when you can grab some vets and do it in like 30 mins, and still get no reward. It mostly comes down to time, and the raid being a huge waste of time at the moment.
-
i would help with new ppl to the raid but when im trying to get sumthin done fast i ask for experienced
-
u ever seen the raid nightfall crucible forums? theres a lot out there n a lot helping
-
1 ReplyI help people out all the time. I think that the main issue with TTK is the grind. They set it all up in a way that tends to make people a lot more selfish, always trying to get that next level piece of gear for themselves.
-
There's a difference between helping people and carrying. If you can't pull up YouTube and watch the fights you don't deserve it imo.
-
This is what I've been saying since day one. We have to use third party sites to find people for activities, and even then, people will only help if they also benefit from the activity. This game makes people selfish.
-
2 RepliesHelp with what? No matter what you grind, it's forever 29.
-
You should think before you post. You shouldn't label everyone as the same. I've helped a lot of new people through KF and will continue to do so. But, the main reason many people don't help out as much is because there is so much more to do now so they put their priorities first. And you can't blame people for wanting to do that.
-
I routinely help unexperienced players through the raid. In fact I have never had more than 2 other experienced players in the group.
-
If people here are on ps4 I will help you.. I'm not a great player but I know the mechanics.. And I just want to say that the reason people don't want to help is because this raid sucks... It's so long and tedious and a lot of people don't want to take the time to lead others through.. Now to fix that I highly suggest that people watch a video explaining mechanics before even trying it.. That way you have an idea how everything works..
-
1 ReplyAgreed. Look at my status. It's been the same status since TTK released and I have yet to find a fireteam nice enough to help me
-
My group is always willing to help a new player raid as long as they show competency. If you are shooting oryx with an auto rifle, rocket launcher, or Sleeper Simulant... don't expect much help. That is the one thing I have seen from almost everyone who was unable to beat Oryx with their group. They are using weapons that just do not belong in the raid. As long as you are around 290 and listen well my group will gladly run you.
