Describe your first week of Destiny The Taken King with one word

Replacement. TTK is a replacement rather than an add on. After the first one or two missions and you get orbs, you'll eventually come to the conclusion that all older weapons are to be retired and you replace all your gear. That's replacement folks, not add on.
