The Chaperone
NOT F*CKING WORTH IT! The first part of the quest is nearly impossible because you expect people to use the worst gun in the game now (Last Word) to kill other people and go positive?! Yea ok that sounds completely retarded! Yes some people are good at doing this part but its worse than the old Thorn bounty. I got 5 kills and 1 death and i go down drastically in percentage. This is the most retarded thing I've seen in this game. Not to mention that you need to kill the Shield Brothers with a shotgun and YOU have to kill them no one else is hard cause you maych make us. The only way to do that is have a team of friends join you and hope you they dont mess it up. I literally just deleted the Chaperone quest cause the first part os retarded and not worth it if it takes like 5-6 kills to go up 1% and 1 death makes you go down 2%. Bungie really needs to change that cause its not a fair gun fight when you are using a last word against ANY other gun out there.
Now comes the part where the comments will be' "scrub, noob, you suck thats why, this is fair you suck stop complaining, this just allows "good" players to get this gun." Really now i dont care if i suck or not the point is that the quest's first part needs to change where its 1 kill = 1% and 1 death = 2-3%
It needs to change cause sometimes other people just have better weapons and can kill you in one shot.
I just find it funny that half the people replying don't have anything else to say than "get gud" and then half of those are different versions of "get gud" then we get to the actual people who are trying to help others and give advice. Thank you to those people who aren't bigots. Those people who give help and advice will certainly go farther in life than those who can even write "good" properly.
OKAY I WILL ADMIT! probably not my finest thing when i wrote this really possed off. And just ragikg at the fact that i kept dying and loosing percentage. MY BAD! BUT! To all of thise people who actually gave me advice and helpful hints or just didn't say "get gud" or anything like that Thank you very much. Granted i should have probably went to an advice forum asking for tups on how toake this part easier on me but thanks for the help anyway.

You need to have completed the bounty and used the weapon for a while before you can that "it's not worth it"? Your assessment of the weapon is invalid until you have some experience with it.

7 RepliesExcept you're wrong. 1. Anybody in the strike can kill the shield brothers as long as it's with a shotgun. 2. The kills don't have to be with TLW, it just has to be equipped. Kills with special and heavy weapons count. 3. Kill streaks seem to act as a multiplier. So it may be that 1 kill = 1%, but it seems like 5 kills without dying = 10%-15% (I could be wrong, but that's how it seems) If you don't even understand the quest, don't say it's too hard. Of course it's hard when you can't read properly and add unnecessary hindrances that make it harder on yourself...

The Last Word is a weapon that was meant to deal high amounts of DPS at very close range by means of hip firing. An old western gunslinger's weapon. It was not meant to snipe people across the map with nearly no recoil in the blink of an eye. Furthermore, the quest stated you need to Last Word EQUIPPED to complete it. Which means you don't have to get kills with it. Based off of your rant, you can go back to your cowardly blink shotgun technique without even using Last Word to begin with. I had success with the Last Word in crucible for this quest because I used it for its intended purpose. I would snipe anything out of optimal range and when an enemy got to close I would gun them down before they got off 2 shots on me. By the end of 1 rift game I was up 60% because I didn't die much, went on streaks and got many kills. To continue, the Shield Brothers strike requires you to kill them both with a shotgun, yes. However, you can use whatever gear you want to up until they have no health, switch to a shotgun and take them down with ease. And if you have teammates that you can accually coordinate with and do it properly, you should have almost no problem at all. The strike was the hardest thing for me in this quest due to the high light requirement and the fact that I only had my 170 Felwinter's to use. The quest is not bullcrap just because you can't do it. It is fairly easy if you know what in the hell you're doing and it only took me a couple of days to do it since I had other things to do besides play this game. And on another note, I happen to enjoy using the Chaperone. It's a great shotgun that deals very high damage at a fast fire rate and a long range. The Road Born perk activates on a precision kill with any weapon you use as long as Chaperone is on you, so you can get a headshot with a scout rifle, switch to the Chaperone and pop off a few quick kills since your RoF, Impact, and Range all increase. This is a shotgun that I really enjoy and have loads of fun with. Please do not try to ruin other people's gaming experiences just because you can't do something. People who want something nerfed or changed or they just call it stupid, a waste of time, or overpowered obviously have never thought to themselves what they were doing wrong with their games and what they can do to fix it. Each quest is doable if you put in the time, the effort, and skills to get it done. Some people think that you should get things in life just for showing up. That is not how any of this works. Believe it or not, you actually have to do work to get rewards. You put in the time and effort, you get the goods.

I'd disagree. I was wrecked on crucible with it. That was the only gun that guy used. Didn't help I was trying to do my jolly holliday quest.

1 ReplyDuring the first part you get 1% per kill and 2% per precision kill. You loose 2% per death. Killstreaks give bonus points. The shield brothers was super easy did it first time with randoms and you have to hurt them not kill them

Suros or montecarlo if u go exotix?

You're wrong about the strike part. All you have to do is damage them with shotty. All 3 in the team can complete bounty in one strike. Already seen proof in my clan.

If you suck with the Last Word you really need to get good. It still 2-Shots, just need to use Hipfire and hit the head.

The idea is to...just go positive consistently yes? As long as you do that the Crucible portion is manageable I think. I was dreading using TLW for this, but I'm not doing bad. I dunno. I will say this. I'm playing on classic 6v6 so I can run maps I know well, and so there aren't so many other 3rd subclass players, lol.

There's still a chance though. Practice. That's it. Take TLW into PvE, learn how it kicks. Pair it with a special of your choosing. I recommend using a sniper rifle. I have approx. 12k kills(combined total with Y2 TLW since DTR counts it as a diff gun) with TLW.[spoiler](some bad kid called me out on it. Said I abused it in Crucible. Thing is, I only had almost 7k HC kills in PvP at the time)[/spoiler] Why? PvE. I always practice with it. It's practically a part of me. So, obviously part 1 was a breeze for me. Just know that it's difficult, not impossible. DO IT! MAKE YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE!!

The whole part about YOU having to kill the shield brothers is wrong. I joined 3 guys and didn't get the final shot on either of them and still completed it.

Multikills and kill streaks help build the percent faster thats the hardest part out the whole quest i think and i cant say for certain cuz i havent done it yet but i dont think u need to kill both brothers in one go u can focus on one the first attempt then the second on the next of course it takes longer but seems less bothersome

Step 1 equip Gun go positive. Step 2 equip shotgun go positive Step 3 wait for reset collect your gun. Step 4 watch people be salty cause they negative. Priceless

Nearly impossible? Don't equip last word until you got your super and heavy Go to town. Get a 5-10 kill streak Go until you die Leave the game and repeat the process I did not do t like this. I got it done old fashion way But this is the scrub way

3 RepliesI know your pain all too well I'm here trying to figure out what the best Playlist is to play on. Also you shouldn't have to wait until super or heavy that's bs and not how they meant for you to play through the quest. It would be fair if they lowered the death loss to 1% so that way it's 1 to 1. Then all you have to do is go positive in K/D which isn't too hard. Although the last word is terrible now after the nerfing of the stability and accuracy and the range nerf which was the only thing that needed nerfing.
