Cozmo I hope you read this because I feel like you're one of the only ones at bungie that actually cares about the community: I'm upset with bungie for lying(by omission) about the weekly cap on legendary marks.
I'm writing this post so that the community can actually weigh in on this topic because nobody is making as big a deal about it as they should. And Cozmo, i hope you read this because I really do feel like you care about us as players and as people and I don't want you to feel like any of my frustrations are directed at you at all because they're not. with that being said:
While there is no theoretical cap on marks, you can only get a set amount from activities per week. the only way you can get more is by dismantling legendary gear, which you can't just get whenever you want. I'm upset with bungie for basically lying to us. and yes they did lie. why? because they didn't tell us the whole truth. this is called lying by omission. for anyone that doesn't know what that is, Google is a wonderful thing. they didn't tell us there would be a limit on the amount you could get from activities. They didn't tell us the only way you could get more legendary marks every week was to dismantle legendary taken king gear (which you may not necessarily want to do). [u][b]This new system is not a reliable way of earning legendary marks at all and it does not cater to people who can't play every day. For instance, if I miss out on playing destiny for even one day, I'm missing out on almost 1/7th of my weekly alotted legendary marks. This kind of system isn't a fair system, even for the non-casual players and it makes this game feel like a chore and i don't think the developers wanted it to feel that way.[/b][/u]
everything else, I can deal with because it doesn't really bother me. But lying is one of the biggest no no's for me and I'm really upset bungie would blatantly lie to the community about this. this is a problem because how can I trust bungie when they say one thing and make you believe it only to be disappointed about it after you found out how things really are? Cozmo I hope you read this. You don't even need to comment on it, but I hope you read this and bring it up with whoever you talk to to relay our opinions to the rest of the staff over at bungie.
everybody else, please feel free to share your opinions below. and please bump this if you want bungie to see this and potentially address it.
Edit: [b][u]I was just told by a commenter that I should be managing my time better while playing the game in order to maximize the rewards and what not. this exact attitude. this one comment is the whole reason why this post exists. saying I should have to micromanage my time while Playing destiny with this system makes it feel like more of a chore/a job than an actual game. I shouldn't have to micromanage my time to get the most legendary marks I can. that's ridiculous. I don't want to feel that way while playing this game. and I don't think the developers want us to feel that way either. Soooo.... You just want them to give you marks?? You need to earn those suckers bro. Sure There's a cap to how many you get from heroic strikes. And i feel ya about not wanting to dismantle certain things just so you can get marks. But there's other ways to get them man. There's the daily story. There's the daily crucible. The weekly crucible playlist. Certain story quests reward marks. Purples drop like crazy now so I'm sure you will find some that are worth pulling apart. And don't forget all of this can be done across three characters. The marks are account based. Good luck man, sorry you feel its a chore, but I think its fine and so do a lot of other players.

8 RepliesWhile I agree that legendary marks are being rationed way too much, I don't think Bungie lied. They told us about this bs before TTK came out. Marks should be as easy to get as they always were. That is the casual players way to get into the game. My main is 294 now, so Marks are useless to me because they can only buy 280 gear. However, I have several friends who want to play, but don't have time for the new, 100% RNG system that is in place for TTK. Basically Bungie, you're not hurting me, but you just sent all the casuals packing. Dumb move. I also understand that you won't fix it, because you're a bunch of stubborn SOB's who enjoy destroying your game, and turning a 10 year plan into a 3 year plan. TL;DR... Question for Bungie sums up the problem, will you be able to sell enough copies of future installments if you've sent all the casuals away?

The problem is that it's account based and not character based. Each character has to share the aprox 240 marks you can earn. Each piece of gear cost at least 120 so that's at best 2 spanned over 3 characters Not a fair system.

Well technically, you earn much more than ever. But you have to spend them a lot more. Daily heroic and daily crucible give 15 each. Which is 30 per day. And 210 per week. So that's already more than the weekly vanguard and crucible limit. Now add the 30 marks from weekly heroic. 240. Today, zone control was shown to us, and you could get 10 legendary marks per game you won, 3 times. 270. This will likely happen every week. Add possible legendary you may delete during the week. Let's add maybe a few more. 15. At least 240 legendary marks can be earned per week. I did not add the zone control PVP and from legendary gear because that's not certain, and you many not delete those at all, or a PVP weekly may not show up. I think this is better. In general. The only difference is you can't earn them all in a day anymore. Play the game and gamble with good old RNG. A lot better and generous to me now. Don't know about you.

8 RepliesLet's do math find out how much legendary marks you can actually earn on all three characters every week. You can get thirty by doing the dailies, so that's ninety every day with all three characters, if you continue to earn marks throughout the week, that's six hindered thirty every week. If you add heroics in, that would be six hundred seventy. That's a large amount my friend

21 RepliesUhm...ur a whack shack...you can get 30 a day from the crucible and daily heroics, that 210 a week plus you can get legendary mark rewards froms 5 heroic strikes in a week which (is either 15 or 20 apiece i cant remember) either way you can earn about 300 per week on activities alone, how much more do you want? Bungie didnt lie...they cant just let you farm legendary marks so you can buy everything you want...what do you want marks rewards for every activity you do....no, thats stupid, they did it right, be patient and jump off the stupid "bungie lied and im a little girl who didnt get what she wants bandwagon"

Bungle has been telling threes kind of half truths all along and it's very frustrating. This really sucks for people who can't play every day, cause they will be very limited on the number of marks you can get.

3 Replies240 per week per character is plenty. Did you expect to buy everything you want and need in week 1? You and these babies crying that the raid is "too hard" don't seem to grasp this concept. If you can do all things week 1 and get everything you want then you have nothing to look forward to afterward.

Why bother. I don't even use them. Haven't bought 1 piece of gear or weapon. My light is 295. The stuff you can buy is junk. 280 light.
