This "new RNG System" sucks ass.
[b][u]Let's get this trending by hitting that favorite so we can give a post for Bungie to see just how many of us are getting duplicates![/u][/b]
So as any destiny player, I bought 4 helmet engrams to try and go for that Y2 exotics. Redeem them one at a time, I dont spam. I use 2 on my titan, and 1 on each of my other classes. 2 on my titan that I redeemed were both skullfort, after I just bought the helmet itself from Xur. I redeemed one on my hunter and it was that new Titan helm that gives Angel of Light. I redeemed one on my warlock and got another skullfort. As anyone would, I was pissed. But I carried on and did a nightfall and guess what I got?

Apparently this new RNG System is not working for shite. I don't need 4 skullforts, so why did I get 4?
[b][u]EDIT #1:[/u][/b] Seems like I'm not the only one getting duplicates. Hopefully Bungie addresses the issue as its a little more than just having "bad luck".
[b][i]EDIT #2:[/i][/b] I bought these engrams 9/18 at 7:00 A.M. Eastern US for those accusing me of not knowing better. I had no other way of knowing prior this was an issue with exotic engrams as well. I had never gotten that many duplicates out of just 4 engrams, so I was not expecting that to happen to me then, especially with the "New RNG System" they implemented.
[b][u]EDIT #3:[/u][/b] Here's one quote from an article who wrote about their announcement of the changes.
[spoiler][i]The other important thing to take away from this is the changes that Bungie will be making to the RNG loot system. In Destiny 2.0 the system will have some procedures in place to limit the range of chosen items that can drop for you. This limit will be determined by the gear you already have as well as the weapons that have already dropped for you. Bungie has stated that these changes are meant to make each drop more meaningful - by reducing the amount of duplicate drops players get - and also to increase the chances of each drop actually pushing you forward in your level and goal of hitting the maximum level in Destiny.[/i][/spoiler]

Go six month without getting red death xur sells it, I buy it, immediately get it an hour later in the next raid or nightfall I do. Get 3 red hands in all three of my nightfall. My ps4 rng is much better to me than my xbone.

2 RepliesI bought 4 helmet engrams, decrypted them all on my titan. Got Taikonaut, Helm of Saint 14, Empyrean Bellicose, and a hunter helmet: Graviton Forfeit. Got a 5th engram from popping a card on an ultra and got The Stag. As for weapons, got 2 more engrams from popping cards. They turned into Y2 Invective and Y2 Suros Regime. Sounds like you just had the worst luck possible with RNG. :(

My first 3 exotic engrams turned into 3 consecutive Invectives.... Does it help my characters? Yeah but 3? First 5 exotic helmet engrams (bought 8) turned into 2 Saint 14's and 3 Inmost Lights... I guess this helps for Infusion but my drop rate for Legendary weapons is garbage as well.

I feel you. I did like 15 heroic strikes in a row lastnight and got 30 or so blue engrams and 26 motes of light 6 strange coins....FML Oh and all the blues turned into light 275 or below bullshit....

1 Reply4 Super Good Advice year 1 3 Dragon's Breath year 1 and 2 of the same year one titan helm. 1 new hunter helm that unlocks the "purple fart dive" skill tree. Think Bungie just wanted us to burn through our strange coin stockpile as they are harder to get now. I was so disappointed I have really bothered playing apart from finishing my chaperone pvp bits and trying 1 strike.

Edited by Hyrune: 9/21/2015 12:39:11 PMIt's cool for the increasing light lvl on blues and legendaries. BUT it's bad for exotic duplicates: 4 alpha lupi, 3 Hereafter, 2 Y2+1 Y1 Hawkmoon , 2 The last word, And not that much unique exotics other than those duplicated.

So far, duplicate wise I've had 2x Celestial Nighthawk, 3x light beyond nemesis, 3 x Starfire Protocol, 2x Mask of the Third Man, 3 x Skyburners Annex, 4 x fourth horseman, 3x hereafter, 3x invective 3 x claws of Ahamkara and 2x Graviton Forfeit.. However, when it comes to Primary weapon engrams, I got the new Suros, the Last word, the Zhalo Supercell so 3 engrams and 3 different weapons, which was nice. I also got singles of HoPF, Obsidian Mind, alchemists Raiment. Duplicates can be frustrating, but at least they can be used to infuse my favourite legendaries so that makes them much more useful than they were before.

2 RepliesWhen I bought a bunch of legitimate helmet engrams from Xur, I got a crapload of duplicates. A bunch of Skullforts, and a Taikonaut. When I abused the Three Of Coins cards, I got: -Suros 2.0 -Invective -Helm of Inmost Light -Graviton Forfeit -Immolation Fists -Alchemist Rainments -Crest Of Alpha Lupi (hunter) -Young Ahamkara Spine So, the game kind of shat on me for trying to do things the right way, and as soon as I deviated and abused a loot item for nefarious gain? Then I was swimming in high-end exotics.
