I live in a small town in the middle of Iowa. I was driving home after our football game. We lost, I was tired and sore. I'm about halfway home, and apparently the cops were at the bottom of a hill clocking cars.
Now let me give you some background on the cops in my town. They're over their heads with power. Last year, a kid parked in the highschool parking lot sideways and took up 2 spots. The cop was circling the parking lot (which usually makes people late to class as well, because he won't move), and he saw the car. He went over and asked the guy to get out of the car. He did, and asked what the problem was. The cop said to shut up, and threw him on the ground. This guy was the nicest guy you'd meet. He was just trying to cooperate and he got slammed into the ground.
And we get daily texts from teachers and coaches before and after school like this:
E Waldstein - Cops: Cops are out guys, in the parking lot. BE careful!!
P Dudley - Cops are out on 14th street. Avoid it!
Then I get pulled over for going 10 over last night. I admit, I was going fast and the cop had every right to pull me over. He did not have the right to be a dick to me. I just wanted to help the officer do whatever he needed to get his job done. I pulled over, turned my radio off, and stayed still so he didn't think I was grabbing for something. This was my first time being pulled over, so I was a bit nervous. He asked for my license and registration, so I gave them to him. Everything was fine until after he ran my stuff. He came back and said he was letting me off with a warning since it was my first time. I had to sign a paper and I asked where. He then proceeded to say "Don't be a -blam!-ing smartass, sing the paper. You know where to sign."
I legitimately did not know where to sign. I told him this and he got even angrier. He decided to write me a ticket for resisting police authorization or some shit like that. I just wanted to know where to sign. After all of this, I asked if I should wait for him to turn his lights off before I pulled out, and he said "Don't even think about going anywhere, you talk to me like that?" I didn't know what I said, because I thought it was standard protocol to wait until after the sirens were turned off to drive away, and it was my first time being pulled over, so I just wanted to make sure I didn't make him any angrier. That didn't work. So I had to sit an extra 30 minutes while he lectured me on how to obey the police, I just wanted to know where to sign the warning paper. He took it further than it needed to, and I have a $35 ticket to pay off. The police in this town suck, you can say what you want, but you don't know until you've lived here or had to deal with our cops. I did evry thing you're told to do when you're pulled over. Turn the music down, stay still, cooperate, and don't be a dick. He must have had a bad day or something. I don't know.
NWA was right.

If you're not doing anything wrong... Then you don't need to worry about them

Not all cops are bad... There are a few who are total pricks though. There is a small town near my area that the cops can be bought off and they won't give you a ticket. The city I live in though the cops are chill... The next town over the cops are terrifying because they deal with crazed meth heads all the time. Which for them is completely understandable...I've heard many stories most of which were disturbing to say the least.

Coming straight from the underground? I know what that feels like. I've been stop and frisked about eight times on NYC purely because of my appearance. It's annoying.

20 RepliesEdited by NoiselessPurse21: 8/29/2015 4:07:00 PMIn Canada, you can go 10km/h over and you'll never get pulled over, which means that you were in the US, and were going 10mi/h over, which is a significant amount. If you don't want to get a ticket, don't break the laws, dumbass. Crying about it here won't do shit, exept give people something to laugh at.

You shoulda just yelled "STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON" and peeled out

So many idiots on here. Yeah I'm sure all of you guys never go over the speed limit. Give OP a break for Christ's sake. Yeah he went over the speed limit, which I'm sure we all do. The cop was being a dickhead when he didn't have to be one.

I was visiting Iowa and I got pulled over because I was going over the speed limit (limit was 60, I was going 65) so he pulled me over, got out of his car and started screaming at me to get out of the car. So I did as I was told, without hesitation or me talking back, he then proceeded to start throwing things out of my car and claimed he was looking for illegal substances, (I had none) and then when all of this was over he ordered me to give him 400 bucks or I was going to get a ticket for drug trafficking. So I paid up, and he just drove away, while most of the contents of my car was laying on the highway. I'm never going back to Iowa.

1 ReplyThis is why people blame movies and video games for poisoning the minds of our children. OP is living proof that those people have a point. .

Not all cops are the same though, dumbass. And you probably got a ticket for acting like an ass when he was just doing his job.
