Don't bother with Iron Banana this week guys. Bungie missed a huge opportunity with this IB and its just poor planning having it now. First of all, the rewards are pointless. Etheric light? Armor and weapons that not only need to be ascended, but will not be able to be brought up to year 2 levels. Secondly, the gun, Felwinter's lie is clearly a joke and slap in the face. As we know, shotpackage is getting a nerf in weapons 2.0 and here it is practically the perfect roll out of the gate. (range could be better). Kneepads, agressive ballistics, and shotpackage? Its a troll drop and we all know it. It represents EXACTLY what's wrong with this current meta. Speaking of meta, they missed a HUGE opportunity to release the weapon update today and completely throw the IBanana into chaos. We could have been experimenting with new guns and finding what really works. Instead, its a shotgun, TLW, Thorn-fest. Even more so because those shotgunners who haven't gotten Felwinters yet are playing it to grab it before its gone. This meta is broken and stale. Another opportunity missed is the gametype. Control. Haven't ever seen that before. Sigh. If you had asked me yesterday, I would have told you I expected the next IBanana to be on the new gametype where only capping points mattered. IMO, thats what bungie was looking for all along with IB but realized it too late. And lastly, the maps. Not only do we still have the same maps we had the last 3 Bananas, but frankly, half of them are terrible and don't belong AT ALL on a 6v6 playlist. Talking of course about Anomaly, Asylum, Blind watch and Twilight gap. These maps are barely big enough for 3v3 but 12 players running around is too chaotic to really have a competitive game. It is far too easy to snowball an opposing team with super after super..after super. I for one, am staying away.
