I really don't get it. To me, carbonation just adds this feeling of uncomfortableness or maybe even a slight pain. Why do you people like it? Are you masochists? I just don't get it. Can someone explain the appeal to me?

Cuz they like how it feels down their throat.aha

Bubbles are fizzy and tingly; some people like them However its NOT the bubbles they enjoy; its the taste of the beverage and the effect the sugar content has. The amount of sugar in the drink REQUIRES it to be carbonated, other wise the sugars eventually turn the beverage syrupy.

Edited by The Elike: 8/22/2015 9:23:23 PMI have a sodastream. It basically carbonates water then you add your own flavors. I love it because I can make my own flavor sodas and the carbonation let's me have fun burping. Plus I like the fizzy feeling.

I always shake up my soda/pop and open the lid and let the air leak out so there won't be any carbonation and it tastes way better without it

6 RepliesGrowing up my parents wouldn't let me drink anything carbonated. I didn't have my first come til I was 15. I bought one and let it sit out will it wasn't carbonated. It was terrible. I later tried it with carbonation. The sizzle my was the most un-enjoyable sensation I have ever felt. I HATE carbonation. I hate beer. 90% of the time I drink water. I drink a gallon a day. I occasionally have juice or milk. But I'm not mad at my parents. I'm glad I don't have the temptation for coke and junk food. (I don't like chocolate or candy for the same Reason). The past 3 years I have been very big into fitness and greatly appreciate the healthy choice my parents forced me to follow. I will never drink anything carbonated again, I'll stick with my water!

To shake it so it explodes on someone

Better question is why do people like to drink.

2 RepliesThere's a study about slight pain being pleasurable. Like scratching an itch or eating spicy food.

10 RepliesOkay, let me activate my "Science, bitch!" card here. Carbonation opens your pores ok your tongue, enhancing the flavor of whatever drink it is. Also, the carbonation tends to grow on you. It is an acquired sensation.
-
2 RepliesUnless you're having pure soda water or Caffeine free Coke, Carbonated drinks are usually really sweet, and at a pleasant level of fizziness. I'd also understand hating Ginger Beer, because that's an acquired taste at best.
