I have never made it past the dismantle mines stage. What method are you guys using to beat Skolas post patch?

41 RepliesEdited by DeeFreshSage: 8/19/2015 3:41:02 PMHere is a plan for you in simple terms. 1. Kill bond servitor to the left when starting. Use high impact snipers, rockets, or machine guns to try to get his health down where the bonds are broken. If you fail to get the bonds broken it is ok, rotate the the other side of the map where the next servitor spawns. You could kill the servitor again but chances are Skolas wont be near you to shoot him accurately. If he is not near, dont kill servitor, kill adds. If Skolas is near you, kill servitor and shoot at Skolas to destroy his bonds. 2. Once bonds are broken, rotate back to the other side where you killed the first servitor. Kills adds again until Skolas has moved near you. Shoot Skolas again, if you arent surrounded by adds. 3. Hopefully at this point Skolas health is now half or so and dismantle the mines has started and the tainting of a guardians light also has started. The mines will always be located in the same 3 locations but the order is random. Place the weakest player where the second servitor spawned because that mine has the most cover. Place your strongest player where the first servitor spawns because more adds are gonna spawn and it has the least cover. Last person goes to middle mine, preferably an invis hunter or bubble titan. 4. Who ever had the essence needs to immediately get to a teammate when it is time to pass it. At 10 secs left you should be in close proximity of your team. Use your mic to communicate who has the essence and what time is left on it. 5. After mines are dismantled and essence is passed rotate and kill adds. Continue to do this until the adds are very thinned out. All the while passing the essence. 6. Once most adds are gone work on skolas and keep up communication about the essence. 7. Eventually another wave of mines pops up. Do same deal as before, also another group of adds will spawn in so be careful. 8. Once the second wave of mines have been dismantled it should be smooth sailing. Clear out remaining adds, while still passing essence. Rotating if you need to. 9. Now it is time to kill skolas for once and all. Let off everything you have into him. Once he is dead collect rewards. Notes: The essence works like this, Player A has it then Player B takes it at 10 secs or less, then Player B has it and Player C takes it at 10 secs or less. Then Player C has it and Player A takes it at 10 secs or less. Then the process keeps repeating. The essence starts at 30 secs then counts down. Rotate when things get too heavy. (Too many adds or Skolas is too close) Rotate back in forth between the two servitor spawn points. Always take the long way and run along the outside of arena. Titan bubbles and hunter invis are very useful when dismantling mines, use them wisely. Lastly, the most important thing is knowing how to kill and survive. If your teammates die often while killing adds, shooting skolas, or dismantle mines then chances are it is not gonna work out. You have to play great to succeed. Try not to blame game all the time, take ownership. If you get killed, chances are you could have avoided your death. Tips to staying alive: When your health bar turns red, run away. When you are surrounded, run away. Try avoiding running in the middle of the map, stay along the outside. Dont rush the enemies, let them rush you. Shotguns are your best friend vs captains. Be aware of your surroundings. Dont aim down your sight too long. Look around and check radar often. If you can follow these tips you should have a better chance of survival and succeeding. Edit: Can people bump this so more people can see it please.

1 ReplyStay on the platform to the right and have a titan with bubble to cover the middle mine and a self res or invis character to get the mine on the far side. Stay safe, don't get shot and the second ads spawn forget skolas exists and focus on ad management. The mines supposedly spawn at 50% and 25% health so keep an eye on how low his health is so you aren't taking on ridiculous amounts of ads whilst dealing with mines. Also, if you have 2+ gjallys you can burn down his health at 1/4 and there will be no ads to deal with for the last mines

Learn the lingo: "ROTATE" - this call (please pair with a left or right) is made to idicate you should run away along the edge(ish) of the map. The direction is relative to your current position and the centre of the map (ie, it assumes your back is to the wall). Any player can make this call, obey immediately and without question or criticism. "HOW LONG?" - This call, usually made by the next person who is going to take the taint is a request to know the current number in your timer. You don't have to work anything out, just read the number in the timer. if it says 15secs and you want them to take the taint by 5secs don't say "10 secs" say "15 secs". When in the middle of shooting and evading damage, trying to do even the most basic mental maths can be lethal (I've witnessed a timer run out while someone attempted to work out an answer to this most easy question) "CAPTAIN" - This call, especially on lightswitch is an alternate to "ROTATE". It means run away, not turn around and fight. Captains, especially Reavers, are the most lethal team wipers in the arena. Create distance to them and burn them at range. Use heavy on them, whatever, just never be in melee range of them!

1 ReplyIt's easy. Just don't suck. Jkjk

Tbh first mines are a bit of a bother. Try to trim the mobs down before and also save a couple gallys to take out mobs while mines r up too. I run a hunter but they still see u invisible sometimes so it's not foolproof. After that it's pretty easy, what we do is just go at him with our primaries to get him to 25% and make sure we have full heavy before then. Then just blast him with gally until he goes down, thereby despawning all the mobs and leaving the mines free to capture. While dancing of course 😄

Titan bubbles and hunters that go invisible when its time to do the mines

having a hunter with invisibility helps

With guns
duh
Subclasses don't matter if you can avoid getting hit by bad guys, when he's close to 50% and 25% I tell all the teams I help out to stop firing on skolas, and burn adds, then we nuke him as soon as you trade the disease, the one who just passed it off goes to the far side of the map in case it pops there, he has plenty of time to recover from damages, and then dismantle, the others are still free for an exchange.

2 RepliesGitgewd lol. What platform are you on?
-
on the dismantle the mines stage me and whatever team I am running with usually end up sticking together at all costs. That way you dismantle the mines faster and don't have to take fire for as long.

Many a cheese bricks...

patience was our main ally, after a while we all rotated and passed the poison in sync

Timing is the most important thing!

With guns

3 RepliesIf it's small arms- I was advised to try Thorn. And it worked wonders. Beat him twice in the last few days. Be patient. As earlier replies suggest; take out vandals and captains priority as they dig themselves in like goddamn Alabama ticks. Fang of Ir Yut or fatebringer maybe if you don't have thorn. Or don't like it. Rotate, talk to team, share the essence, kill, rejoice. Then look forward to the reward bounty for one of the 3 guns...

1 ReplyWe done it with two Titan Defenders and a Sunsinger Warlock using the "run around doing laps" method.
-
11 RepliesRun 2 bubble titans and 1 res warlock. Hunters are useless because they cant produce orbs. With give of the void perk and 2 blinding bubbles you will ALWAYS have a bubble up for safety and the warlock is there as a safeguard. I have run many skolas and the easiest time ever was 3 blinding bubble titans and we beat it in an hour and 20 minutes. cakewalk! I would advise on passing on the weeks when lightswitch is a modifier as well.

1. Shoot Skolas together. Don't independently shoot Skolas. 2. Once ADS spawn, clear them first. (Higher priority goes to the Wire Vandals) 3. If the Lightswitch Modifier is active, always call out any Melee Captains. If Mines spawn, send a Titan with a Blinding Bubble to the middle one because ADS tend to just teleport there. 4. Always pay attention to the Taint. 5. Try your utmost best to stay alive. Well, basically that's how we beat Skolas.
