CONFIRMED! Year One Gear Will Not Be Upgraded For TTK!!!
Bungie has become progressively worse at making weapons and armor since launch.
Bungie, fix it, now! I promise, the day you announce that you are letting us level year one gear to the new max level, I will buy TTK. If you don't, I doubt very seriously that I will buy it.
Edit: I erroneously reported that Matt Miller did not like the TTK weapons. He was referring to HoW weapons, not TTK. While it does not change my point, or my mind, I do apologize for any confusion I may have caused.

I love Destiny. But if I have to re level all 3 of my Guardians and scrap all of my beloved weapons and gear I'm gonna just jump off a cliff and wipe!!

My guess is that while we won't be able to ascend at release of The Taken King, they're planning on allowing Ascension again after that. I will be cross-posting this to all of the threads I see about not allowing Ascension because I'm sure Cosmo has better things to do than reply to every new thread about it.

I don't understand why people think the weapons will be taken out of the game. They will just suck major butthole or still be OP in the unbalanced crucible

1 ReplyI am totally ok with that. In fact, I'm happy they did that. I would have been miffed if HoW didn't have ascension, as those raid weapons were meh, but it's time to let those old guns go and pick up something new. Year one had its time (a whole year even). I don't want to be playing with the same guns in 2024... Seriously, that would be [i]so[/i] boring. I hope they make us leave our year 1-2 exotics behind eventually as well.

I believe exotics deserve to be ascended for year 2. A very rare material only obtainable as a drop via raid or night falls. Legendaries can stay back. Some weapons are very nice and should carry on. Like the suros regime.

They don't know what they are doing. You can tell with the decisions they make that they are lost when it comes to what their players want. I wouldn't be surprised if they never increase vault space again.

For the record all of us grinded those guns and gear for nothing, its a game!

In a proper mmorpg when a dlc drops, greens out class your hard earned purple raid weapons by miles. Glad bungievision is finally catching on to how this whole thing is supposed to work. They even said there will be [i]some[/i] better versions of previous legendaries....should be interesting. P.S. - your exotics are coming with you, just not your legendaries. Also normal crucible will still be a place to use old legendaries as it always has.

10 RepliesI find it hilarious how ppl are outraged and yet they weren't complaining when TDB came out and ascension hadn't been introduced yet so Fatebringers and Devil You Knows and whatevs were quote on quote "useless". But nope, we should be using the same weapons for 10 years guys. I bet this will happen with Destiny 2 as well.

The game has to move forward, we cant expect to carry the same weapons for the lifetime of the game, its one of the things that can make the game stale. Keeping exotics is good enough, good move by Bungie imo.
