Will I be able to keep exotic armor and exotic guns . That's all I care about although I will miss my party crasher

Still don't have a gally even after hundreds of hours of play time. Across 3 maxed characters. I had given up on caring about it but now I'm starting to get worried that I'll never get to experience its power before it becomes irrelevant. Unless it's only legendaries that can't get ascended and exotica will still level as normal.

Time for a fresh start.

I don't see this as a bad thing. I had to ditch items as I leveled up to 20, and I had no problem with it. It forced me to experiment with different weapons and builds. Had I been able to upgrade the first rocket launcher I found, I may have never have used a machine gun. If I could've buffed up my first pulse rifle, I probably wouldn't have grown fond of hand cannons, etc. It's necessary for good game design. Letting your players stick with a handful of weapons just leads to stagnation, a feeling of repetition and a disinterest in loot. I'd much rather play through TTK and feel the same excitement for loot that I felt when grinding up to level 20 than play with the same handful of weapons all the way through.

You couldn't upgrade old gear in House of Wolves until you acquired Etheric Light by participating in endgame content. Just because you'll find upgrades while leveling to 30 doesn't mean there won't be an upgrade system available for beating Oryx.

I'll still be keeping my shadow price though. No regrets.

I cannot wait for a new grind of armor and weapons..I'm like an addict on this game and getting good gear to drop is my fix..and anyone who has played Runescape will tell you how easy of a "grind" this game really is :)

Oh boy, how to explain this. This is a good thing. It's terrible that it has to be done now, and in the way it's being done, but this is a good thing. When Bungie started with Destiny, they legitimately had no idea about some systems; specifically RPG systems like progression. They did the best they could, and then with VoG they had a great set of weapons that, skins aside, felt like a real reward. Then the DLC came. If anything, I'd say the way this happened takes away even more credence from the theory that every DLC has been cut content; in developing the first game they completely forgot about the future. Bungie put so much work into making the base game's gear progress well that with something like the Fatebringer they probably hit their originally intended endgame 10 years too early. No matter how you look at it, that's a problem. When a gun at 300 Attack does more damage to level 33 enemies than one with 331, and enabling players to upgrade their weapons makes it even more widespread, and this is all in the first year out of 10? You have a major issue going forward that needs to be dealt with. After all, how can they just let players keep using it for the rest of the franchise's lifespan if they want to keep a progression throughout that time? The other issue that this needs to fix is part of the reason the forums are such a cesspool; this is a console game. There is literally the biggest mix of casual and hardcore, experienced and newbie, ADD game choice and exclusive game choice possible and it just doesn't work with a game of this scale when everyone's thinking of the game as something different. Destiny is mainly an RPG. Not in the traditional sense, but it fits the name far better and more properly than a general label of "shooter" with Bungie's intended focus on story(which we all have to admit did sort of fall flat on its ass this time around) and progression(something they're new to). How many RPG's, or even MMORPG's, both have a progressive gear loot system and let you carry the same exact weapon for all the time you spend playing it? Not a whole fvckin' lot. They'll always have a limit on how good something can get because that's how you enforce improvement. Destiny is more complicated than this but the idea is the same. However, because Bungie is inexperienced with RPG systems they forgot that this isn't a game where only stats matter. A game like Destiny inherently implements skill and comfort into the equation since each weapon functions differently, which means if you make something too good you can't just get players to use something newer because its stats go higher; they'll stick with what they like to the bitter end, and if you just keep making weapons more insane to peel them away you'll wreck the game's difficulty for anyone who doesn't have the current meta build(which might become unobtainable at some point). Under no circumstances is that situation sustainable; that's how we got here. I don't want to look back in 9 years and realize that every jackass out there is still using a Fatebringer, or that every weapon in style is unbelievably overpowered because that's how they made the game and if I don't use those weapons I won't get anywhere because they've skewed the difficulty adjustment over time. I feel like that'd ruin the idea of progressing for all that time. So yeah, sucks this had to happen now. That doesn't change the fact that it needs to.

I'm totally fine with what there doing, I just hate how older raids are gonna be useless. Like sure go ahead and get rid of these legendaries, I understand that there is progression, but I want to play the content i paid for, I paid 20 dollars to play a raid that's gonna be useless after the taken king.

Sounds like they are going to overhaul everything. All the more reason to hold off on buying ttk until it drops and player reviews start coming in.

Damn I really like destiny but this makes me want to quit

I love Destiny. But if I have to re level all 3 of my Guardians and scrap all of my beloved weapons and gear I'm gonna just jump off a cliff and wipe!!
