CONFIRMED! Year One Gear Will Not Be Upgraded For TTK!!!
Bungie has become progressively worse at making weapons and armor since launch.
Bungie, fix it, now! I promise, the day you announce that you are letting us level year one gear to the new max level, I will buy TTK. If you don't, I doubt very seriously that I will buy it.
Edit: I erroneously reported that Matt Miller did not like the TTK weapons. He was referring to HoW weapons, not TTK. While it does not change my point, or my mind, I do apologize for any confusion I may have caused.

Their might be more with raid gear but at this point don't destroy any legendaries due to the fact that it's been noted that destroying old gear can help make new gear more powerful.

1 ReplyI will honestly say that Destiny was my first MMO game & regardless of whether it's the right thing do to for the purpose of progression or what not...I still think the're gonna lose thousands (if not millions) players! I personally know of 9 players who quit Destiny after TDB released the minute they found out that old gear became obsolete & they all said that the grind was for nothing. When HoW came along I contacted them to give the good news about old gear ascending...none of them were interested & moved on to Elder Scrolls Online / The Witcher 3 / COD / Battlefield / GTA V And with many other promising titles releasing soon (Star Wars Battlefront / Fallout 4 / Doom / The Division...hell, even Tomb Raider & Uncharted) many players are gonna invest much less time in Destiny.

I think it would be cool if they remade V.O.G. Weapons and changed the raid a little, giving the guns different perks. I'm gonna miss the fatebringer /:

They had no choice but to do this. It's like in any online world MMO. The best part of the expansion is to get all the new goodies. In How that was missing I didn't give a crap about any of the new goodies. Now I'm excited to see how my character looks in their new armour and will try and find something to replace my Voc and fatebringer. I just finally got this gun like 3 days ago haha. Thank God exotics will be upgradeable. I would cry if I lost my red death or hawkmoon

11 RepliesRENDER MY GEAR USELESS!!!! Seriously people, the grind for year 1 was fun but I am ready for better weapons. I don't want fatebringer to be the best HC for 10 years of destiny :/ that'd be sad. Bungie is actually doing a great thing here and those that can't grasp that, well goodbye. Thank you Bungie for FINALLY doing the right thing.

3 RepliesI'm fine with new weapons...but what about armor? I think having greater customization by upgrading old armor is a lot better than taking the best weapons and keeping them that way forever. The way it is now, everyone is running around with the same armor, the same setups. That's not the crazy customization destiny was promised to be. I heard about armor rerolling so that gives me hope we'll all be able to bring armor with us to TTK.

1 ReplyYou know what all this whining about TTK reminds me of? When the Beta ended and everyone was up in arms about their level 8's being deleted and losing all their favorite weapons and wasting the "hard work" they put in. With the light level being scrapped, we are all glorified level 20's as of TTK launch. I don't care about legendaries being replaced. I love my gear as much as anyone, but if I got the end all be all weapons one year into a supposed ten year plan, I say we were cheated. As long as exotics keep being ascendable and they give me space in my vault to keep my VoG and CE trophies, I'll be happy should I decide to buy TTK.

Old gear is left behind, as is the case with every other MMORPG. I hope no one was surprised by this.

3 RepliesI think that people would have complained either way, but this choice is the higher percentage move for the health of the game. Even if it stings a little now, on a long enough timeline we would all have forgotten the momentary discomfort. Something about Cosmo telling us not to dismantle year one gear yet had me thinking: could they have plans that include using previous legendaries as components for future weapons? Perhaps they showcased this concept with the whole idea of Necrochasm i.e. weapon evolution. They absolutely know that we love Fatebringer etc. Maybe these items will become parts for the gunsmith to manufacture something even more advanced. Food for thought.

2 RepliesThe fact that you need old gear to keep playing isn't the right perspective. This happens in every game of this type, it only makes sense that things should get better. I'm excited. And it is only for LEGENDARY stuff, so our exotics will be fine.

Y'all act like they're isn't going to be better weapons than what you have now. They are moving on to bigger and better things, you're either on the train or not. And it's not like you can't use your old weapons anymore. I was using the 300 fatebringer in level 34 Poe for a good while and it still wrecked. Is anyone else ready to start fresh? I am.
