It's not his health that's the problem, it's other stuff that happen at once.... Either remove the poison or mines. The best compromise would be to HALF the amount of adds....
Edit1: I see that most of the "git gud" crowd haven't done him since the pre burn nerf.....
Just saying......
Edit2: I can't thank most of you enough for all the tips and strategies that you have given me. TRUE GUARDIANS!!! The "git gud" crowd and the "play another game" crowd can GTFO......

Lol kill adds then skolas pub

1 ReplyThe funniest thing about this post... You go down and read the comments, and maybe 3/10 of the commenters, who say something about Skolas (how to beat him, how it's so challenging, how the rewards are crap, etc)... You go into their grimoire to see that they've never beaten Skolas. :-S
-
2 RepliesI've done it..a few times. I like the playable encounter much better than the burn method. It's still no fun.
-
honestly once you beat him for the first time and kinda look back and notice that you freaked out for no reason and that he's easy to beat. it took me six hours(my first time) and i kept freaking out when the poison time got to 5, my friend kept making me wait till it reach zero to get use to how it feels, Everything else was easy tbh.
-
I've done it 5-7 times. I think it's torture.
-
I did it on my first try AFTER the patch. It's not hard if you kill the adds first and then focus on SKolas. They made the fight much more predictable.
-
Edited by a wise fella: 7/23/2015 5:04:45 PMI've done it only 3 times, once before nerf and both times after. You need a dedicated fire team willing to work hard on the last part. There is no eSy way around it besides make sure your fire team realizes it might take an hour or two It's actually more fun now than it was before, anyone who says otherwise , doesn't enjoy the challenge it is meant to be.
-
I honestly think it's not too bad Best way to do it is with an invis hunter for the mines (or just a sneaky, sorta fast, and skillful guardian) The poison isn't much of a problem, just comtinue to pass it around and make sure you use call outs for time and such If one person dies from burn, don't worry too much as long as they're in a safe place
-
6 RepliesThey have already took the burns off for all the numpties who couldn't do it. Cmon man what do u want? sepkis prime level 28 strike ? Id stick to dragon strikes if i where you
-
Skolas is not for the casual, when you beat him, it means you are not a casual anymore
-
1 ReplyUse the best weapons.
-
Skolas is easy, What platform are you on If you are on xb1 add me ii jaycito ii I can show you how to do it in 1 run
-
1 ReplyNever done skolas Al my friend either Have no Mic Have no House of Wolves Or the ones that do spend their time in the trials Or simply don't want to help Or ore offline
-
Skolas wasnt designed for Casuals maybe?
-
8 RepliesHes easier since the pre nerf burn. Without a burn that means enemies don't burn you which makes him easier.

I think some other guys mentioned it, but just to underscore - Keep moving! Have one guy designated as leader who should be calling "rotate"! You only stop on either side to: pop heavy, kill adds, swap taint, and burn Skolas but only when applicable. You only shoot Skolas when most of the adds are eliminated. I always make it a point to immediately rotate as soon as the taint is swapped as well. And a good shotty is a lot more valuable than a sniper. I use VOC for adds at range, Found Verdict for the captains and other adds that push you, and gally for Skolas. If you don't have gally a tracking launcher or a good HMG would work.

With lightswitch, it's a nightmare. I've beaten it a couple times post nerf and it was fun and challenging but there's really no reason to keep doing it. The biggest problem I have with the mechanics of The Skolas stage is the Fallen rounds that bend around corners and basically heat seek. Between Skolas scorch cannon that has tons of splash damage and the Fallen tracking rounds there is no where to stop and just regroup. Rotating and running away from Skolas, picking off adds and then unloading at specific times is a proven strategy but it's not fun. Running away all the time seems counter intuitive, and i doubt they planned it to be fought that way.

The trick is to hit him hard from the start once first servitor is down. Then clear adds before hitting skolas again. Once all other adds are down hit skolas to break the bonds then leave him alone to concentrate on the adds again. Once all adds and first mines are destroyed hit him again till next mines spawn then stop, clear the mines and then the adds. Once it's just you and skolas heavy synth if needed and spam him to finish. Just make sure to keep doing Laos round the outside of the map as you clear the adds and pass round the poison. Hope this helps

1 ReplyEdited by Loops: 7/23/2015 4:24:15 PMYou're the kind of person/people bungie caters to for this game. It ruins the fun/little bit of challenge for us players who have thumbs. This is why this game is dying, anytime someone can't beat something or it's too hard for them, they nerf it. Please just go play a different game, end game content is supposed to be hard and a challenge. Just because you can't beat it, doesn't mean it should be nerfed...again.

Edited by Bobabals4: 7/23/2015 4:01:31 PMI'm glad they took burns. That made it too easy, like fighting Atheon with solar burn!
-
I know there are people with less play time than others and people that just can't pick this up and be expected to play it to the level of others. It can be challenging. Piss on the negative people here. Keep trying. You'll get it.
-
I've done it both ways and it's easier post burns save void burn. Try to have a warlock take poison when the mines spawn and then die to it and self res. Move all together to dismantle so it goes fast. Focus on adds more than the boss. Good luck.
-
Rotate supers for mines or hunter invis. Stop being terrible
-
I never did it with a burn. But it must have been a piece of cake, cuz it's easy already! You don't even need gjallarhorn.
-
lol its -blam!-ing easy
-
To be honest having the modifiers like the poison and mines makes it more fun. Better than the two minutes it takes to down the raid bosses.
