It's not his health that's the problem, it's other stuff that happen at once.... Either remove the poison or mines. The best compromise would be to HALF the amount of adds....
Edit1: I see that most of the "git gud" crowd haven't done him since the pre burn nerf.....
Just saying......
Edit2: I can't thank most of you enough for all the tips and strategies that you have given me. TRUE GUARDIANS!!! The "git gud" crowd and the "play another game" crowd can GTFO......

3 RepliesCasual player, here. If you can't beat it, then don't bother. It's supposed to be challenging. As a casual player, you probably don't really have the time to sit through hours and hours of an online event. As such, the rewards really aren't worth it.
-
Get gud scrub
-
4 RepliesI agree. I try to play a little more then "casual" and the whole mine crap along with the poison pretty much makes me not interested in completing. Me and 2 friends special a little over 4 hours on just Skolas.. Just got tired and quit. To much trouble and time consuming for a causal.

Edited by TitanFur: 7/23/2015 7:37:09 PMYeah tell me about it, me and my friends were doing it last night, just when he was almost dead, BAM! Baboon. Then again with Caterpillar kicking all three of us to the main menu. We were pissed. More so for the facts saying it was our internets fault. Let me just say that I live in New Mexico, one of them lives in Ohio while the other lives in Florida. And we all get the same errors blaming our internet, sounds like an issue with their servers, not our internet if you ask me. Also, I think they should make him level 34 difficulty. He would still be hard enough with the modifiers on. But Bungie wanted to make him even harder, and instead of being smart, they get lazy and just add a level disadvantage.
-
Well, it's end game, it's supposed to be challenging.
-
Yes it is! Im on xbox one, add me and i will run it with you.

I actually find it slightly easier, yet longer, with the updated skolas no burn. The key is to use the perimeter. And communication obviously. Just make sure you clear out all adds before you take him down to 75%, 50%, 25% health or they'll double up on you. After that it's really communicating between who gets the "stanky leg" and swapping it out tri-style. Hope that helped

Edited by Brick2025: 7/23/2015 7:24:28 PMRemoving either one will make Skolas another strike boss. If you remove the poison, all you would have to do is dismantle mines. If you removed the mines, you can just pass the poison around until Skolas is dead.
-
2 RepliesSkolas is easy, almost feels made for casual players. It's hard to consider it end game content for the lack of effort needed.
-
All it needs is checkpoints at skolas and I'd be okay with how it is now (1 hour to get there+ 2 1/2 to beat him on my last run) really could have used a CP to take a break
-
The drop rate for elemental primaries is shit. They should either guarantee a weapon drop or give us a checkpoint at skolas. I enjoy the encounter itself. It's rewarding to beat him...well , I say rewarding but I'm talking about personal satisfaction because fame rewards aren't there.
-
1 ReplyI don't do the skolas fight because the rewards are not worth the effort and time
-
1. Look up strategy 2. Have good weapons 3. Communicate 4. Profit Did the whole fight in 27 min last weekend. Not elite players but we communicated and got it done in 1 try
-
I totally agree, I think it should be a challenge though. Some activities are not for everyone.

At the end of the day the most important thing is communication and knowledge. Your team needs to be tight on calling out captains who like to run from behind and butt -blam!- and also the poison. 1. First step run to the left. Take out the servitor and unleash all rockets on skolas, everyone gives him everything they got. After that clear adds, pick up any heavy, once adds are clear unload again. 2. Once the poison starts you guys just need to have solid communication, constantly rotating around the map clearing all adds. Once all adds are dead unload again! 3. The mines shouldn't be difficult. You can really do it with any class... Hunters need to equip every type of invis possible. Shadow jack to keep invis for a long time. Blink strike with invis on hits, the crouch invis and the super. That gives you 3 different types of ways to go invis. I can clear all 3 mines and stay invis the entire time!! I've beaten SKOLAS with 3 hunters 2 times and found this the easiest way TITAN bubble with shotgun is def a good look Warlocks with self res and flame shield! Once mines are clear, kill all adds, then unload. Repeat process till SKOLAS is dead unless they throw in the VIP kill which gets pretty annoying sometimes. Another thing that helps with skolas the most is kellhunters gear. Some of the gear has perks for all races... I was lucky enough to get all fallen set. The helm adds much needed recovery, the chest provides enough armor I can take more than 2 hits from a captain before dying. The legs for agility. Keep this in mind next time you run it. Also your team MUST have arc primaries or arc shotguns for captains. The captains can be the make or break. As long as you are constantly moving and clearing adds there should be no reason for you to die. If anyone is on xb1 and wants to run just add me ii jaycito ii

Skolas is easy? So easy? Why do you complain?
-
Dude Skolas is so easy it's a joke!
-
1 ReplyCommunication is the key, usually pass the poison around when the person is at 10 seconds. And always stick together and rotate together
-
I will admit, it's a challenge to the lesser skilled. For sure. But, isn't that a good thing? It'll make you strive to be better. Give you a goal.

5 RepliesEdited by Disco: 7/23/2015 5:02:06 PM
Edit1: I see that most of the "git gud" crowd haven't done him since the pre burn nerf..... Just saying......
You do know that he's much easier AFTER the "nerf", right? As for it being too hard for the casual crowd, I think that should be the point of end game content.
-
Switch the poison before the mines spawn, have the poison and lowest immune counter go together to one side of the map, the other goes to the other side. You only need to switch once. Adds shouldn't be a much of a problem because when waiting you can shoot some and thin the herd. It's doable for everyone, just communicate well and do not shoot skolas during Mines
-
I've done it 3xs a week since launch, excluding last week. Its really simple if you have the right team that can communicate and be smart about what they do. If youre on PS4, I could help you get it done. Ive helped a few people beat him for the first time
-
2 RepliesLet me tell you at one point I would be asked to do the Skolas POE and would cringe. One day after not having much to do in the game I said screw it let me try. I was fortunate enough to team up with a crew that wasn't afraid to be patient. I was taught a very good strategy and since completed it twice. Some things I took away from my experience.. 1. This is obvious but not a common practice. Communication!! 2. You don't need 3 Ghorns to beat him. It helps obviously but not necessary. 3 max dmg rockets will do the trick as well. 3. Back to number 1. Don't be afraid to discuss the strategy being used BEFORE you step out of that airlock. Especially if you're playing with randoms. Another obvious but not commonly done strategy. 4. Give the smack down to those adds. Every time I played and failed repeatedly is when too many adds are out and mines pop up. Straight nightmare. Hope some of this helps Guardians.

Lol kill adds then skolas pub
