I recently got the urge to farm for either an LDR or Longbow (already have an LDR but terrible perks/scopes). I know one method is to farm Roc strikes and hope for rare/legendary weapon engrams to drop at the rewards screen but weapon engrams seem to have a low chance of dropping.
After doing some reading around the forums I've also noticed that a few people were looting them from engrams dropped from the end of the Eris Morn missions. The chances seem higher from the missions as you get weapon engrams easier, problem being that the mission can't be farmed (at least for rewards as I know you can delete the bounty while flying in to the missions and be able to get the experience again but I don't think it counts for rewards).
I recently deleted my warlock to make a new one for a few reasons, which I won't get into now, and I noticed that levels seem to come pretty quickly. I am curious if it may be more efficient to just level a character to 20, put all my previously maxed gear on to be 34 and run through all the Eris Morn missions for the rewards, then rinse and repeat, as opposed to grinding Roc strikes for a small chance at a special weapon engram every time.
Any thoughts/tips that may help?

From what I am seeing people post in both this thread and others is that Roc Strikes seem to have an extremely low chance at rewarding weapon engrams. After redoing the Eris Morn missions on a new character yesterday (just the first three) I was able to loot 1 Primary, 2 Special, and 3 Heavy engrams. Sadly none turned into legendaries but I have yet to do the Omnigul Strike and Urn missions so I will report what I loot from them. It seems deleting a character and quickly levelling it to 20 to do the Eris missions may have better chances at getting a TDB Legendary compared to the Roc Strikes. It all comes down to how bad you want it haha

1 ReplyJust out of interest - as someone with 4 LDRs a longbow and a saterienne rapier...why on earth would anyone ever have dismantled them? They were great then, as we know they are even better now. But what in all that is sacred to Xur would make you delete them originally? I have all exotics as well btw, so don't tell me the inventory wouldn't take them...

Go to the vendor and buy one! Oh, wait...
-
1 ReplyQuick question: have you received any dark below legendaries from these activities?
-
During tdb I had 2 long bows and 1 ldr but stupidly dismantled them
-
2 RepliesHold up. So you're telling me it's still possible to get a Longbow??
-
1 ReplyOMG you have too much time on your hands. Those sniper rifles are good but the grind you're willing to make is crazy. Good luck

1 ReplyEdited by NYDIBS: 7/15/2015 6:52:36 PMI deleted my warlock, when I was relevelling him I got an ldr to drop upon beating the last tdb level last week

1 ReplyJust get a Queens sniper it's the exact same rof and impact you can roll whatever else you want

2 RepliesPurchase time machine Use time machine Get ldr ???? Profit

Lay down Try not to cry Cry alot
-
LDR is my baby

5 RepliesIf you relevel, it would be best to have two 34's, as there is a "??" Implemented to level faster so long as you have one two levels higher, same goes with any vender levels too
-
2 RepliesI think roc strikes would work better rather than deleting your character after the missions. I've been grinding roc strikes for another longbow or Ldr with no luck yet.
-
2 RepliesHope it works out for you, getting a character from 0-20 takes most of a day for me, even with loading them with blue engrams and decrypting to level quicker with blue loadout, every 4 levels. I'd rather run roc strikes, I want a Longbow but I'm not to that extent

1 ReplyDo they still drop LDRs and longbows?
-
2 RepliesEveryone who checks out the LongBow on my Hunter tells me I got really lucky and they wish they had one. What they don't know is I have better versions of LDR's and 2 more LongBows that are badass in their own right. So glad I didn't rip them apart to make space as I was having fun in crucible with them. Don't play much any more but they were cool.

1 ReplyI've been doing this same thing but I was farming Tiger Strikes.
-
4 Repliesah sorry....didnt read your thread close enough....it appears you are understanding that you cant "farm" eris missions. I have read yhis same thing recently so that being said, i think best way to go it to just keep deleting character and grinding thepugh all eris missions until you get what u r after....ugh sounds dreadful.

im dying for the same two weapons i dismantled a while back. Im considering deleting a character and doing the same thing because I have done ROC strikes for 2 days and literally have received no tdb weapon engrams from reward drops....only armor. all engram drops received during play are HoW engrams and will not work. I am planning on deleting character soon and blowing through lvl20 but then rather than just completing all eris missions and hoping for the engrams that grants me the longbow, deleting mission after i start to fly in. i read somewhere that when you are completing these missions (purple story missions from eris) you can delete upon entry and it will still give u the engrams but not the credit for completion so you can rinse and repeat. Im not certain if this works and i also am not certain if these missions drop weapon engrams as rewards at the end but Id like to know....its gotta be better than grinding ROC strikes for weapon engrams. If anyone knows definatively if this works, Id like to know.
