Light Level Prestiges - Coming in TTK

Credit for the image goes to Pretender00! In the video linked at the bottom, I discuss how the progression system in Destiny TTK may work. I am basing this upon vidoc, e3, and Bungie Day Commentary footage. We now have evidence for a light level of 300+(Possible placeholder, but I have my doubts based upon the other footage). It appears that the new base level is 30. Once you reach this level, the numerical value is replaced with a Light Level symbol. Armor no longer gives light--it requires a light level to use. This means, perhaps, that new armor/weapons will require very high light levels. In acquiring these light levels, you simply must level up as you did when you first began the game. Once the bar is filled, you gain an additional level of light. As you increase in Light Level, you become more powerful--I assume most noticeably in PVE while PVP will not be affected as much in ToO and Iron Banner. Destiny needs a system like this, and I believe it is what is coming. It is a progression system that rewards dedication, something we currently do not have much of in Destiny. Also, in the video I discuss weapon balancing, the new subclasses, and the way RNG will be less rampant in TTK. Please comment below to let me know if you agree or disagree. If you disagree, let me know how you think the progression system will work! I discuss this information in the following video where I get the 4th highest recorded game score, which is a score of 12,800. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gkLri5BQyg

    • I think it's the average of the average defense and average attack if you're 34, average defense should be 446.5 and with all 365 weapons, the average is 365 (446.5+365)/2= 405.75 This seems about where the light levels in the picture are. then again, this isn't factoring in everything you have in the vault and on your character, just what you have equipped

    • I wouldn't expect the light level to be that high initially. 150-200

    • Good job on getting that image. This is a good thread. I actually like the idea of having a light level requirement for armor, as opposed to armor giving a light level, and being hard locked to base stat levels. The only benefit to the current system is that you can look at a persons level and know whether they are at gear/level cap or not. With a prestige* type leveling system, or just a more traditional leveling system, you wouldn't be able to know if someone was at gear cap unless you either inspect them, or are familiar with the armor they are wearing. Which is a downside, however small it is.

    • How is this different from just base level though? My guess was gear after level 30 grows with your level, doesn't require a level. The light level on weapons is just a placeholder where the attack value used to be.

    • Prestige? What is this? CoD now? You want this game to more like CoD?

      • I can't wait for all the superficial elitism that will run rampant if this becomes reality :/ hope people don't take it there for the most part. Wonder how this will affect end game content entry requirements?

        • Destiny is notorious for half cooked ideas that are only half-implemented :/. Anything related to factions, especially Eris Morn (why does she exist?). Selling TTK as basically the other half of TDB :/ LOL!

          • I like the idea of it. I would like to see a bigger level gap I put a fair amount of time in to the game and would like to be rewarded for it. I have a friend that got the game 2 weeks ago and has 2 34's and a 33. It would be nice to be more powerful then someone that just started.

            • I would like a mix of the two. Maybe have an ExP based system with specific pieces giving you more light.

              • They confirmed that Light Level 50 was too high of a level and said it was a placeholder, so what makes you think you can get to the 300s?

                • The only way is like this would be if they made it so that level 2 dregs don't do as much as a 28. What's the point in being 32, 34, 300 and so on, if you deal out and take the same amount of damage?

That bar that you see at the bottom of the screen in the ViDoc is just the regular level indicator for when you level up. You can see the level 20 on the left hand side, and the players that they are fighting are all level 20. Anyways, they aren't going to change the game like that. If you had a experience based leveling system, end game progression would have to be completely changed. Currently, you need either Etheric Light or Armor Cores to level beyond level 32. If you could just grind out missions, you would not need to get end game loot to progress to the highest level content. Essentially, you could just skip to the hardest mode without doing any of the prior content. For example, you could go straight to the level 35 Prison of Elders without having to do the 28, 32 or 34. This will never happen. It's ridiculous. Edit: I seemed to miss a few things before I posted this. Anyways, it seems like light level being tied to armor rating doesn't have to be the way of the future. Light level being an indicator of game experience could be a good idea. Sort of like an in-game grimoire indicator.

Are you trolling? Or just an idiot? Level 300? And how would trials/IB/hard raids/PoE/and everything else in the game not be f'd up? The entire game's damage calculator would have to be thrown out and recreated. Although it should anyways (half levels don't matter, 1 light makes a 30ish % difference in pve), they might as well make a whole new game.

                          • Rewards "dedication" no you mean brain dead grinding and potential exp exploits. Not to mention the huge advantage sold for $3.00 a can. No the system in place is fine.

This gives me hope. This is what the original game was supposed to be. This is what everyone was hyped for originally. I really hope this plan falls together and they go through with it.
