Thorn haters READ THIS
If your getting all butt hurt over thorn and its burn then think outside the box. If you can't beat them at their own game (like me) adapt. Red death is detrimental to the thorn play style. Thorn burn becomes irrelevant. If not, get the close range game and bring it to them, the fire rate well be their down fall. Stop whining and waiting for a nerf handout and just play. Adapt, learn, become better, and grow a pair.
Ok, BIG misunderstanding here. I'm not a thorn promoter, I'm not a thorn hater. I'm a neutral party passing on a piece of advice to people trying to beat thorn. ONLY because it's one of if not THE most controversial gun.
Edit: I'm not saying red death is the only option to come back with. It's just one of many.

To fix crucible, bungie should make all weapons have a kill time of about .5 seconds, stay with me here, then raise the guardians hitpoints to about 300 or 350 rather than around the 200 it is now (we're talking primaries)

Oh yeah just exploit the big disadvantage of a stupidly fast rate of fire. I mean, it's not like a bodyshot with thorn is equal to a headshot with any other legendary (or any other hand cannon). Here's a list of other OP features that didn't headline my sarcasm: The range is too much It's puts a shield down for 5 extra seconds (body shot still equal to a headshot from any gun so wtf, they take damage meanwhile you can close in just fine or hide) Final round makes it only need 1 headshot Rate of fire + clip encourages spamming and camping. This gun was supposed to be a deadly tool in the right hands. Not a deadly tool for any tool.

3 RepliesIts not that man. I use the thorn and red death both depending the team and I've gone flawless. I don't hate the thorn because it kills me. I don't hate the thorn because its OP. I hate the damn thorn because its all you -blam!-ing see in trials. This game has so many cool weapons its crazy. But somehow you only see about 3 different ones in trials and mostly its thorn. Its boring. Its just simply boring that its always thorn and shotty thorn and shotty.

13 RepliesI feel thorn is powerful, but it isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. I've come top of the leaderboard since the last gun patch with pretty much every gun combo except fusion rifles, but I never liked them much even pre-nerf. I agree that Thorn can totally be beaten, but I do still feel that some kind of change is in order to either it or the hand cannon class in general. I may find success with most gun types, but my red hand IX is way easier to use and way more forgiving than any of the other primaries I've used in the last couple months.

Ive been on both sides of thorn and the simple truth is that those who cry about it constantly just suck really bad and they want bungie to kiss their boo-boos and make it all better. 5 RepliesHaters gonna hate. It's that simple. I've been annoyed by Thorn, but I don't hate it. When you beat a Thorn user, don't you feel good? You feel like you've accomplished something. For some, I'm sure it felt impossible. But it feels good. Why finish diminish that feeling?

Red death is perfect two hit to the head with thorn will burn you to death but if you trade with him you won't die

My beef with Thorn isn't the fact that it's an extremely effective weapon. My contention with Thorn is not that people seem to instantly put two shots into you, then immediately retreat behind cover as the Mark of the Devourer finishes you off. What makes me nettled (super-nettled, even) is the fact that the gun is seemingly everywhere. I know it's good, I have one ; I have felt the tlation of easy kill after kill due to poison. But Thorn is only one weapon, one of many, and yet it is the gun we always see/get murdered by.

So you are actually FORCED to play with Read Death, to survive/win a gunfight? Nope. Just nope. All you see in Crucible right now is Thorn TLW Red Death (Sometimes Hawmoon) Those guns are the most op guns right now. So the majority uses them. You actually can kill an enemy with TLW in .11 frames. When you see this guy, you are already dead. No time to react. It is just ridiculous how fast they can kill you. Even a moron could kill you. I use Hawkmoon and TLW as well, I know, and I like them! But it is just too fast. So Thorn etc. should get a serious nerf.

Of course I'll be able to beat him with less than 1/4 health, even though I have to land 2 burst on his head. I'll totally survive. You act like the nearest guardian you see as health packs. What if they shoot at you anyway?

It doesnt matter that some people claim that they "own" thorn users with their red deaths and midas, that just means that the thorn users dont know wtf they're doing. If the same players had been able to go up against themselves, where one version of them used thorn and the other RD or Midi the thorn version would win every time. The only weapon that somewhat stands a chance, all other things being equal, is TLW but it's in a very narrow range window that can be mitigated by one of the many long range shotties in this game. And I'm well aware that people like shesmynerd absolutely destroy with TLW against Thorn users but that's because he is so much better than them at foremost utilizing the maps. So it's not duels he's winning here, he's winning because how he approach his enemies. infact, there are no duels or gunfights in destiny anymore because the kill times are so low that it's down to who sees who first. Saying that you need to be ten times better than the enemies to be able to counter a certain weapon is not a valid argument.
