UPDATE 7/3: I ended up doing some summer cleaning today while rerolling guns, got rid of most of my vault/inventory. Very sad day. Most of the collection I was amassing is gone. But it had to be done. R.I.P. Hundreds of hours of work.
UPDATE: If the issue is with the loading of all 3D models as we are currently assuming, would you be willing to forgo those to increase vault space, and only have that in the inventory? Maybe even be unable to see perks unless the gun is in your inventory if necessary?

Original Thread:
I have a good solution to this, another company has already adapted this for their own game. So Bungie's main argument is memory usage on the consoles for all the weapons. While many argue against that being a possible issue, let's assume that is correct. So what's the solution?
An external vault. In a game all about collecting them all having the space to actually keep 'em all is essential. Anybody else know a game that has way too many collectibles and not even space?
Pokemon.
There's so many Pokemon I'm the game, and the bank does not allow you to hold them all (Edit: I stand corrected by many users, the newer games do allow you to store them all, they give you ample space without pokebank. I was unaware, haven't played the new gens, forgive me). Whether or not this is an arbitrary limitation or an actual memory limitation of the games I have no idea, but they made a solution recently.
It's the Pokemon bank. An external application that holds an insane amount of Pokemon. They charge 5 dollars a year for the service, and have many the game truly about catchin' them all.
This is the exact solution we need in Destiny. Whether or not the charge is necessary or sufficient is something you can discuss, but I'd gladly pay 5-10 dollars a year for vault space.
How do you feel about it?
Edit: Thank you everybody for keeping this alive for 1k posts!

I can't wait to see them address the vault space issue seriously... When they gave us the last "increase", this was my response: http://imgur.com/qNdbCDD

1 ReplyThis is a rather constructive thread, but the root of the problem is the lie that the last gen consoles can't handle it. I won't disclose the specifics of how (other than that it doesn't violate ToU), but we have audited resource usage and the vault is rather light even after having expanded it to its current value. With a small amount of optimization it would be negligable to increase vault storage to absurd levels.

Edited by Crims0nHaybaler: 7/7/2015 2:00:06 PMMy own personal opinion of course but vault space really shouldn't be much of an issue since the majority of CE weapons and almost all of HoW weapons are really disappointing. I however disagree with DeeJ on only using a few weapons. Between raids, PVE & PVP plus each burn I find myself using a lot more than he things. Then again, looking at his stats, it's hardly surprising that he holds that opinion.

1 ReplyI would be in favor of most reasonable solutions that increase vault space.
-
Drop last Gen support.......vault space goes up 200%

1 ReplyBungie don't want to spend time and money redesigning something. They have done as much as they can with quick, cheap and easy fixes I would like to be able to see my guardian load out on the same page as my vault (even if it means having more pages for the vault) and be able to change my equipped weapon without having to come out if the vault as well as having more space I would also like to filter my vault so I can easily find armour for each class and weapon by type I am pretty sure that none of my wish list will happen in this game

1 ReplyCan't they just put a tab that says, "next page"? FFXI found ways to add more inventory space limited to the ps2 and it's amazing hardware. I'm sure there's other ways around it.

15 RepliesWhoever is willing to pay $$$ for vault space is a sheep
-
7 RepliesStep 1 : forget about last gen and do a slight 25-45 space increase for new gen Step 2 : make a separate app on the psn and Xbox market for .99-$10 for vault space. Also make it available for the ps3 and 360 users so they don't complain Step 3 : make sure vault space app has enough slots for every weapon and gear rare and better for atelast 2/3 classes (who the hell would keep a common and uncommon weapon and gear?) Step 4 : develop an app for droid and apple , so people can swap things easily and quickly Step 5 : profit and enjoy

1 ReplyBump. Make a vault app.

No solution when we are being held back

8 RepliesFor -blam!-'s sake delete this testament to stupidity before Bungie sees it.
