I think there should be a separate matchmaking for fireteams to match them with other teams and leave randoms to fight randoms.
I'm facing a similar situation with going up against full clans in random matches.

But planned teamwork vs random people most of whom don't communicate at all doesn't seem to be very fair or balanced.

Then destiny would have to include a bit more user friendly clan system.
