Please, Don't Shoot Primary at Atheon
To begin, I have around 50 vault of glass raid completions. I know to some that's low and to others that's insane, but I know the feel for the raid at this point. So when I say don't shoot primary at atheon, DONT SHOOT THE DAMN PRIMARY AT ATHEON! It is so much more efficient to shoot something like a secondary or heavy and save primary for oracles. It doesn't do as much damage, and I think my head will explode if I see another unmaxed up for anything being used to shoot atheon. Even a Murmur is going to do more damage than primary. The point of times vengeance is DPS for 30 seconds, so make the most of it!!! If you run out of secondary or heavy though, then shoot the shit out of atheon with your primary! Try and run out so the game gives you more ammo. But for the love of all that is good and holy please use something than a primary. Also, don't waste a slot with a shotgun unless you plan on shooting oracles with it, had that happen before. For the record, My load out is black hammer, vision of confluence, and gjallarhorn and I never shoot primary at atheon unless I have to (but I tend to hold relic).
Edit: Would anyone be mad if they found someone in their fireteam shooting an unmaxed hard light at hm Templar? Had that happen, we even said "we're going to stop him from teleporting here so use rockets and get as much damage as possible" aaaaaand BOOM, hard light. At first I was upset, then I embraced it and let it happen.
Edit: if you run out of heavy and secondary then of course shoot primary! I actually said that but people must not have caught it. Oh well
Edit: oh so many claim they use super good advice for oracles, but I've never seen anyone do it. People hear others say it and repeat, I've even heard people say it in raids. Did they use super good advice? Nope.

2 RepliesO look another don't use x gun on him. Screw that. I'll use whatever gun I feel like. If someone is using gjallarhorn on oracles than they are the 32 elitist and think they are better than the rest. I'm not wasting my gjallarhorn on those dam stupid things. This is what I do, VoC, revenge and gjallarhorn. I use the VoC and the revenge on the oracles and then I use the gjallarhorn on atheon. If I have time to spare I'll shoot him with the sniper, empty a clip then switch to the VoC.

I use primary on atheon, but usually when there's less than 8 s in times vengeance. I usually run fate bringer/ edict with ice breaker/ black hammer and corrective measures. With bad pugs I always use ice breaker because I will almost always get teleported and I'm not gonna burn out corrective ammo on atheon when I'm burning through oracles with it. I burn all my ice breaker shots first then I shoot with primary for a few seconds and then use golden gun on sups before we're teleported again. I personally don't mind someone using primary but I do mind if they use rockets (or grenades or nova bombs on him.)

I use all my weapons, so I don't have to wait to finish reloading to do more damage... I usually use my primary last though, so it often never gets used on him.

Ps: that's my 2nd psn account (I have all the possible stuff on the first one so I don't play with it anymore)

I honestly do use Super good advice for oracles, if I don't grab relic. I usually grab relic tho. I agree with you about using primaries though. Use snipers on Atheon. Black hammer is perfect.

I use super good advice. I never have to reload while shooting oracles or while in the suppression field.

VoC for Oracles (Or Vanquisher VIII) Ice Breaker for Atheon Deviant Gravity for everything else

I use corrective measure for oracles and thorn for atheon. If you land even a third of the shots in his crit, you do the same amount as someone using gjallarhorn and oracles die REALLY fast to the corrective measure. Think I'm kidding? Think again. I use thorn and when I explain my reasoning, most raid groups end up FOLLOWING MY EXAMPLE. I will admit, gjallarhorn is able to get more damage than thorn in a single round, but you run a risk of dying due to a mistake or a supplicant is close to you and proximity goes off. All the same, thorn gets boosted DOT due to times vengeance, 500 extra damage per tick, so it's on par with the gally.

I dont think I ever use my primary in the atheon encounter, unless I run out of LMG ammo killing oracles. Always use an icebreaker or field scout Efrideets to dps atheon.
