The numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42 frequently recurred in Lost. Each corresponded with one of the final candidates to replace Jacob as protector of the Island. The numbers also formed the coefficients in an equation that predicted mankind's extinction.
History
Jacob and his brother, the Man in Black, lived on the Island for over two thousand years. During this time, the two engaged in a rivalry over the nature of humanity. Jacob brought people to the Island in order to test them and prove his view right. However, when it became clear that his brother planned to kill him, Jacob had new reason to summon castaways - to protect the Heart of the Island after his death and to kill the Man in Black. ("Across the Sea") ("Ab Aeterno") ("What They Died For")
Before drawing them, Jacob observed these candidates using a lighthouse. The lighthouse's mirrors displayed a different candidate's life with each degree that its dial turned. The numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42 corresponded with what turned out to be the final six candidates: ("The Substitute") ("Lighthouse") ("What They Died For")

2 RepliesI'd rather have the all black Xur version for most
-
2 Repliesblack sounds cool though
-
how does this end it?
-
It'd just make it more obvious who got what where. How does that help the issue?
-
That's racist
-
Think it make it look tactical so yeah y not
-
This is a problem and they should fix it... these threads are making me exhausted.
-
But you have to buy bad juju to complete the bounty?
-
I don't care really but my only question is does your (weapon xur recently sold) work less now that he sold it? Or does it still work well? That's all
-
I really like this idea. I hope they implement it, and change all previous exotics to this system.
-
I would actually love this a black mida and a black icebreaker would look sick and would be so exclusive maybe and black gear would be awesome
-
not sure what purpose this would serve
-
Racist!
-
I'd rather an all black weapon anyway, would look amazing
-
No this is dumb doing weekly/nightfall= earning coins which is the same as earning a random drop you earn on patrol or raiding. End of debate. No discriminating based on xur. I have almost 500 hours in and no gjallarhorn, I'm not asking bungie to color scheme weapons for Christmas noobs green & red now am i? Ie -blam!-ing dumb would that be?
-
1 ReplyI don't see how this would help anything. You need to elaborate more.
-
Terrible idea. Exotics should have serial numbers, visible only to the owner and friends. XB or PS to start, then 1 + 9 digits for RNG or 9 + 9 digits for Xur. Solves basic issues, and randoms couldn't judge you unless you friend them.
-
I don't think it matters how you get anything
-
1 ReplyI support this.
-
You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake because you were gifted a weapon from RNG. No one cares, and none of this matters in any measurable way.
-
How does this solve anything at all? No seriously, tell me how this would prevent the "earners" from insulting people who buy exotics from Xûr, because the way I see it, it would actually create issues due to the false sense of elitism that is spawned from "earning" exotics. By introducing this change, you'd be quite literally labeling people who purchase exotics as second class. This is an absolutely horrendous idea and I honestly pity whomever believes that this alteration is required.
