Im sorry it doesn't and for all of those who think it does, you're terribly wrong.
Does my KDR show how many wins i have
NO
Does KDR prove that i play the objective
NO, well yes kinda in the sense that I put myself in more difficult situations to control the game/win and the side-effect being I die more often than the average camper KDR extraordinaire
ALL HAIL K0Z
EDIT: I want to point out that as a roomate to 4 others, I am not the only one to play my account and as much as i hate excuses it definitely has some pull mainly because my friends suck haha
EDIT: Im not saying KD doesnt matter at all....IT DOES...what im saying is its not the sole indication of a player's skill for all those who keep throwing this in my face
EDIT: well it looks like from everyone's response...majority agreed that KDR is not the sole indication of skill.
EDIT: I feel like a lot of people are taking this post the wrong way and are now challenging me to rumble games......THATS NOT THE POINT OF THIS.....if anything add my gt: k0hzey on Xbox 1 and if you guys truly want to PVP and WIN add me to your fireteam I love playing with a team who knows what theyre doing, how to control the map, and rotate spawns.....if this looks like chinese to you then you have no reason to be on this post.
I've played competitive call of duty for about 5 years now and mostly MLG so I know how to adapt to spawn changes and properly rotating around the map.
I stress again if youre a PVP player and are always looking to team up for games msg me, add me, id love to play with an organized team
again GT: k0hzey (Thats a zero)
EDIT: Ok so im looking at my stats on DTR and my overall DTR in crucible is the top 20%
Kill, wins, and assists in he top 20% as well
AND game score is in the top 15%
From these numbers alone it should indicate that regardless of KD, my overall performance in crucible is way above average in the top 20% and thats just from one character and the limited play time I have each day....any more arguments about my skill please id love to hear em!
I Thank you
HAIL K0Z

Skill is too complex a concept to be assessed on a single stat in isolation. A graph of KD over time might help you know if a player is plateaued, improving, haphazard, or running out of luck, whilst also allowing you to assess their recent performances without the influences of their first stumbles around a map. That is a much better indication of skill than just looking at their basic KDR stat. TBH, anyone genuinely investigating someone's skill already knows this and will take more into account.

3 RepliesIt's literally the only determination of skill. Don't try to cover up your piss poor kd by saying they don't matter lol

1 ReplyEdited by Void: 3/26/2015 1:02:28 PMYour combat rating is just barely over 100. Your k/d is 1.17. What does this tell me? Your low combat rating means you average low scores per game. Your k/d is positive, which is a start, but 1.17 coupled with low average scores as evidenced by your combat rating means you likely hover somewhere around the bottom 3 of the team. You're not dropping huge neg bombs but you're not really a worthwhile contribution to the team either. Remember that all gamemodes ultimately focus on getting more kills than deaths. There, I just assessed your skill based on 2 indicators, k/d and combat rating. Now move along and just accept the fact you're not a good player.

A sniper could just keep retreating and never die. It doesnt matter if you haave a good KD it matters if you win
-
Majority agrees? Bullshit dude read the comments lmao.
-
1 ReplyIn rumble, clash, skirmish, and control it does.
-
If your Kd is negative your bad. If it's 1.20 or above you're fine.
-
How bad am I??
-
1 ReplyI feel like the only reason most people's is not higher is because camping is boring as hell so most people don't do it. Also going for bounties that change your play style (iron banner looking at you) really mess up mine. I've had good fun though and I don't really care about the stats too much.
-
K/D to win ratio is the most important. It shows you can kill people and still achieve the objectives enough to win the match.
-
People can judge my k/d when they play me, mines hard to really judge because I experiment with all kind of weapon combinations to keep things interesting and I'm sure I'm not alone in this. However I can personally say No Land Beyond has been a death wish to my k/d, but damn it is sure fun to shut down a shotgunner running at you full speed with it! :)
-
2 RepliesNope. Wrong. All wrong.
-
Yea literally does dumb shit

Well considering how much you kill and how much you dir affects all PvP matches, I'd say yes it does. FFA- most kills wins. This game mode you can go negative if you can just beat everyone else in kills and your deaths are spread among them. Skirmish- most kills, least deaths win. Clash- most kills, least deaths wins. Control- although this game mode has capture zones, they only help boost your points from kills. So again, most kills, least deaths win. I've been on and seen teams win with 1 flag most the game. When it cones down to it, all of the PvP centers on kill more die less. So yeah, if you care about it then k/d matters. The thing people need to understand in control is when to take zones. Not just try and take them whenever and all of them.

Edited by GemCutter: 3/26/2015 9:25:01 AMEvery single low k/d braggart has other people playing their characters. They would always have a 2.5 k/d if it wasn't for those pesky SWIMs.
-
KD is everything you idiots. If you are dieing you are giving the other team points. If I have the highest score on my team with 0 captures and a high KD and my other teammate has 5 captures but a 0.4 KD and 5th place on the scoreboard, now tell me, did we lose because I captured nothing or because the other dude fed kills all day? You decide.

Edited by GemCutter: 3/26/2015 9:26:07 AMAnything to justify shit execution.

1 ReplyHaving a bad kdr and say you only go for objectivs and wins is like saying you're fat because of big bones
-
I'd say KD proves how useful a player is in a clash match.
-
Well.. Team deathmatch is pretty much killing no
-
so if KDR means nothing then why are you making a post talking about KDR? bothers you doesn't it just don't worry about it and play the damn game

9 RepliesEdited by Auriventris: 3/26/2015 9:40:35 AMOh please, the second my game starts lagging like shit and I'm not pulling 25+ kills a match with a 2.00KD just enough too keep the points even, my team of scrubs like you rushing zones and dying every second forces a loss anyway no matter how much I pull my hair out to try win... Every time I win a match it's by like 400 points because me and one other guy are working our ass off to get kills while you get yourself killed dying at a stupid zone in IB .. Without the high KD players rejecting the instant loss, people like you always curse matches with your BS 'Get the objective' playstyle... If your so crap at killing stuff just follow the good player around and leech kills, then at least you're assisting for once.... Ok, that rants over :3

2 RepliesThere's a whole bunch of things I use to tell. What does a high KDR tell me? That I'm going to find a high percentage of their kills was with a pistol....hmmm...maybe Thorn? Even the best players, have very little ability kills compared to their Pistol kills, which alarms me. I personally try to keep my ability kills as close to my weapon kills as I can.

1 ReplyIf you go above 1.0 in almost all games, and cap some flags in control, then you are doing the job. In Clash, a positive KDR is very important. In general a + KDR shows that you play the game sensibly and have good skills. An overall negative KDR is a strong indication that you do not know the maps well, or do not utilise that knowledge to your advantage, you rush into losing situations and repeat that behavior, or that you have yet to find a suitable play style and matched that to weapon types/armor types/character types that support that play style. However, I have played online multiplayer games since Halo 2 on Xbox, and as a general disclaimer for Destiny PVP, the LAG is the worst of any multiplayer game I have played across 3 generations of consoles. Therefore, any KDR stats in this game have to be taken with a giant grain of salt. Destiny PVP has developed infamy for two things; the guy at the bottom of the table with 0.002 get the Exotic, and the guy with 7620 points and 42 kills has ONE RED BAR.

Combat Rating is the ONLY real skill-indicator.

Edited by Red: 3/26/2015 9:36:19 AMits a good indication of skill. my kd is way higher, my win rate is 10% higher, and i average more captures/game then you. i also play solo 99% the time before you accuse me of running 6mans all day. i also consider myself an objective player. i just prefer scoring against dead people that said i do play wayyy more
