"Kick him, he doesn't have Gally"
I've ran sword on hard mode quite a bit. And I've joined a lot of games where they desperately need a swordbearer because they're all too afraid to put down their precious gjallarhorns and just try it. I've put about 800 hours into this game and have yet to drop a Gally, or even a Hunger. I'm still rocking a tracking Admonisher III. So it kinda makes me angry when I join a game and I hear "Kick him, he doesn't have Gjallarhorn.", "Nah it's okay he's running sword."
I've started immediately leaving games that pull this shit. You don't even need 1 Gjallarhorn to take down Crota. I admit, I've been in games where everyone is using one, and it makes it pretty damn easy to down him 3 times in one go. But it is absolutely not necessary. I joined a group of guys that warned me that they were gonna use nothing but Dragonsbreath to test the effectiveness vs gally and I was all for it. We killed him first try, no wipes. That's faster than most of the runs I get in with Gally elitists. I also helped out a group of friends who had freshly made 32, but none of them had any tracking rockets, or even exotic rockets. One guy only had a blue rocket. I told them we were gonna get it done, and told everybody to rock Ice Breaker. 3rd wipe in, we beat him, and 2 of them got Gally. One of the best moments I've had in this game to be honest.
Just stop being tools about a game ran by an RNG and help out the people that haven't been as lucky as you are.

1 ReplyTurns out there's good groups and bad groups. That Dragonsbreath group you joined clearly was used to working together and communicated well. More often than not, random groups formed via forums are not well oiled machines. When playing with randoms, the more firepower they have, the greater the likelihood of success. It's logic, nothing more.

1 ReplyWould love to know what you did on the dragons breath run in terms of strat, I've always found it makes him move. Agreed gally is not necessary, I'm another unlucky one who hasn't got it and been playing since launch (and alpha/beta before that not that it matters).

I wish all the Guardians out there would read this. The whole purpose of this came is centered around inclusion not exclusion. You are very right GHorn is nice but not the only way to do it. What is really requires is precision teamwork.

2 RepliesYea, just a while ago our Swordbearer was practically our Commander. He told us what to do at what moment and we got it done in a few tries. I've had many instances where my team rage quits, Leaving me unable to finish the raid. Luckily we found this guy willing to help.

Well said I get upset that people are dirt bags because they have an item. But I just point it out on their post how terrible they have to be at the game that they can only beat it with a group all having certain weapons

I don't know if this really means anything but I've had gjallarhorn drop 4 times for me(I wish I could donate), and to say the least I don't care if you have it want it or hate it. As long as you can get crota on his knees like the hoe he is your fine by me.

I just leave when people start acting like that. As long as you have a sword bearer that knows what they are doing crota is easy.

1 ReplyI just pulled my 6yro out of T-ball because I found out they're giving trophies to every boy on every team for simply playing the game. Trophies should be earned, teaching children that everyone is equal is a dangerous philosophy.

I don't use my ghorn on Crota much anymore Now it's my Truth most of the time with HoC as a back up

9 RepliesI have gally. got it two weeks ago. don't use it. prefer truth and thunderlord. will not waste my exotic slot on that unless it's a very specific situation. crota is not one of those.

Gjallarhorn isn't a necessity. I kick people for not having tracking rockets. I consider myself to be a pretty good destiny player but even the best can't take into account all the random movements crota will do. On top of that most people are average at best with even a tracking launcher.

5 RepliesThis. I have zero, ZERO tracking launchers, yet I'm somehow wearing my glowhoo without one. I'd love a tracking launcher but until I get one, song of ir yut and dragon's breath have done just fine.
