Im a dad to a 11 month old amazing little girl. I love her so much. I dont get to play as much as i use to bc my priority's are now my little girl and her beautiful mom my wife of almost 2 years. So this morning i got up about 45 minutes earlier then i normally do for work to play for a bit.
It was fun to fight some aliens before work i may have to start doing this on a normal basis so i dont lose time with my wife and daughter.
To the other dads out there that threw this idea out on the fourms a week ago thanks for a solution to my lack of game time now i can play games again.
Edit 1: also u get play time with interruptions bc everyone is still asleep. I love it. Now everyone in my household won.
Edit2: thanks for r the suppourt guys and letting me know how game time happens at ur home. Keep it coming.
Edit3: im so overwhelmed by all the suppourt from dads moms and soon to be dads and guys that want to be dads and ur respect of each other. Thanks again for the comments everyone.
Any of u apart of dads of destiny on the xbox 360?

5 RepliesI find it hard to phantom, I am 63 work full 9 hours days and when I get home it's me and my pups, they don't complain when I play until 2 AM starting at 6 PM so yea I play a lot, the group I play with are two hours different behind me, they are all great, they wish they had my life, I wish I had theirs. Life is funny, I keep telling them at your age family is more important than any game ever will be. Go Destiny!!!!

Wow, its like youtube, i found the weird part of destiny forums (no arguing/general nonsense) On topic: no kids, but i tip my hat to you guys who have kids and are still a kid at heart, i can see myself in 5 years waking up early to game (i hate waking up early im sure you did aswell at 22)
-
I should start doing this instead of playing all night after they go to bed
-
2 RepliesI'll play after 9 or 10, when everyone e is asleep, or should be asleep... Getting up any earlier is no bueno...
-
2 RepliesSame here. I like to get through the daily heroics in the morning. It helps me wake up for the drive as well. I've also learned to play patrol with 1 hand while feeding and playing with my 4 month old.

6 RepliesOur console is in our bedroom and my wife is a super light sleeper. She'd kill me if I woke her up extra early with button smashing and the light from the tv screen, lol. I usually get in my playing time when her shows come on.

Edited by munkyNUT: 3/12/2015 7:00:14 PMI have a 14 month daughter and I get her going to bed at 7:30 which gives me like 2 hours to play (try to get to bed around 10). Once in a while she wake up in the middle of the night, but me and my wife take turns on that. And while Im playing Destiny with my friends, my wifes reading, so as of right now its working pretty good.

One of the reasons I like destiny is the flexibility of play. There are things for me to do it I may only have 10 or 15 minutes (patrols/bounties); there are things for me to do if I know I will have an hour (strikes and crucible), and then there are those times where I play until the early hours of the morning after my family is asleep (raids) all are fun. I'm gonna have to try that waking up early part sometime.

1 ReplyI wake up between 3-4am just to get a few hour gaming in before I have to get my kids up (and so I can play with clan mates in different time zones).
-
Before work is definitely best... play destiny and ride bike while everyone sleeps!
-
I have a 1 year old and a 4 year old. I find the best time for me to play is around 9pm, long after the kids are in bed and around the time my wife has fallen asleep watching tv

1 ReplyVery nice, mate. No kids for me yet, and I lucked out finding a gamer girl (even though she prefers playstation...gross)

3 RepliesI love sneaking downstairs early on a Saturday. Brew some coffee, tune out Phineas and Ferb in the next room (son gets up at like 6:00) and try to scrounge for that last elusive coin I always seem to need so I can go shop at Xur-Mart.
-
4 Repliesi get up an hour & a half before i should, just to get in some sweet uninterrupted playtime.. but then the dog always seems to gets up right in the middle of nightfall and stands at the door holding his pee....

2 RepliesMy wife just gets mad when I play in the morning because I could have been working out or cooking breakfast... 😑🔫

Exactly what I do. I really enjoy it.

1 ReplyI hear ya. I have a three year old little girl and my wife is about a month and a half away from delivering our son. I have the benefit of great work hours. I get out early and have about an hour, sometimes two, to myself to get my game time in. I take care of what the wife needs and since it's so far in the pregnancy she falls asleep at about the same time as our 3 year old so I get more time in the evenings lol.

4 RepliesI can't play before work because I'm playing at night after the kids goto bed. Usually play from 9pm-1am and have to be up at 6. I do check Xur Friday mornings when I go downstairs to take care of the dogs before work. So Fridays usually start out with disappointment.

I get up around 4am and play until 5:45. That's when I wake my boys during the week. It's great to be able to play uninterrupted. I keep the sound muted and just go to town. I even do this on the weekends. I get an extra couple of hours then. I love running missions while I have my coffee.
-
I do the same thing! I work at 4 am, so I wake up at 2 to play for an hour or so. It's one of the only times I get to play. Totally worth it.
-
As a father of 1 who only gets his kid 2 or 3 times a week overnight I've not really had to deal with any issues playing, I just wait until he goes to bed (although that is not always full proof as sometimes I've got to go afk to do dad stuff). I'm glad you've got a method that works good for you and your family.
