Do you prefer RNG loot over set loot?

- I kind of see where destiny's RNG loot system is going. It's a neat experiment and it works better then I would have thought if you sat down and explained it to me. That whole..you never know what your going to get- so you gotta keep pushing hard..thing. It does solve a lot of the issue when it comes to farming items and questing top tier equipment. Kinda makes looking for equipment .. a thing of the past. Sure you can have your wishlist. . But now.. you have to adapt to what you are issued. It's an interesting setup. Other games use a level requirement on items for this effect- But then most people just grind for the items.. then are unhappy because of having to grind so much. Here the grind is different. .. But are the goals the same?

  • I'm a fan of set loot if it's actually difficult to acquire it. RnG is also interesting to me, mainly because the "you never know what you'll get" feeling is real. And if it's something you don't need or want, then the desire to get lucky enough to obtain what you want only drives you further. That said, RnG is also completely terrible, because 9 times out of 10 you won't get anything worth your time. And that's probably why the Nightfall was added; for a good shot at an Exotic.

  • I would of preferred getting the chance to get certain exotics in certain events Like only getting Last Word or Multi Tool in crucible And only getting Ghorn or Hawkmoon from raids Something like that

  • If it's rng I just want more content so it doesn't feel repetitive.

  • RNG is a retarded way of "earning" or "rewarding" players.

I kinda see where your going god knows we dont need another warframe lol but this RNG needs some improvments. I still find it ridiculous that i can put in the most work in a raid or strike while someone goes afk majority of the time and at the end.. BOOM! he gets thunderlord and ghallahorn at the same time type stuff. Know what i mean?

    • I don't mind the random rewards, but it's also nice to have things like raid weapons that only drop in certain phases of a given raid. With RNG controlling so much of this game it's comforting to know the weapon you want can be attained by completing a given objective.

    • I would prefer a system that has random elements, but where specific activities or missions could be farmed for specific rewards. Like a particular strike has a chance to give Suros, a particular mission at lvl 30 has a chance to give you Mida. Then even if it was a grind, you feel like you're working toward the weapon you actually want.

It's a love and hate relationship. On one hand, it keeps things exciting not knowing what you're gonna get, and when. On the other hand, it's frustrating when you're hunting for that one gun *cough*Fatebringer*cough* and can never seem to get it although it keeps dropping for everyone else.

        • Probably in the minority here, but yes. When I think of set loot I immediately think of grinding pyro Pete and bnk-3r for hours on end in Borderlands. The last thing this game needs is more grinding. Random loot isn't perfect, but it at least doesn't force us to fight the same enemies and play the same missions even more than we already do

          • I wish you could trade an Exotic Weapon/Armor to a NPC and then get a random Weapon/Armor/something-bad return. When there is no way to trade your gear with other players it may be a good idea to trade-in your legendary/exotic gear that you don't need and get something return. Its like gamble for something good instead of keep doing Strike/Crucible all day long. Nightfall and Raid is the only way to get something good but you can only do it once a week per. character.

              • I wish that certain bosses could drop specific loot. For example riksis on level 30 could have a 2% drop on a unique legendary armor piece. Maybe it could be 33 light and have lore based around that archon. This would make more story missions playable and make players do it at higher difficulties.

              • Though I do like it for the "randomness" factor, and you never know what you're gonna get, I find it kinda BS that one person might get... Let's say g-horn, from killing Crota on hard. Arguable the hardest thing to do right now. But little jimmy over here, picked up a legendary engram while patrolling cosmodrome (from a level 5 dreg or something) and when he decrypted it, BOOM GJALLARHORN!

                • I prefer rng. It would be nonsensical to have set loot in this game. If I knew I could get a gally every time by completing say three specific story missions with a certain heroic setting that'd be great.....but what now. After you got everything you wanted then what. The grind is over. No reason to get back on.

                • not only is it RNG, but I think they spread out the chances of getting certain items to different players. ex. I might have a .001% chance of getting ghally but another user has a .005% chance, but his chance of hawkmoon is .001% while mine is .005%. That way the likelihood of getting everything is unfairly skewed and not completely random as advertised.

                • Also rng in this game is CLEARLY broken in that there is a massive chance that you'll get a weapon you're either holding or recently acquired. Plus it's too far weighted towards things like shards and energy and classes of armor for other races.

                • Nope no prefer set goals. And I loathe the futility of grinding. It's not my preference. I just don't find that fun. I'm not gonna play mmos either. I get those are like that with rng. That's one more reason I won't be playing those sorts of games. Personally I'd totally prefer to just earn points or have to do a bunch of set tasks to earn things. Sort of like the exotic bounties. But personally I also don't think that should be a numerical grind fest like the do 25 random strikes was. That just seemed like tedium.

                • Yes if it was set loot weapons and armor would be too easy to get. RNG keeps it interesting and a constant grind which i like

                • It's useful, but not when literally every aspect of the game is dictated by it directly.
