I have 60+ hours invested into the game & I haven't intentionally farmed a single thing. My Titan is level 27, only short 2 light from 28. I'm Full Legendary & Exotic slots & working on my raid set now.
I keep seeing people farming while I'm patrolling. I keep seeing my friends farming the dark beyond or cosmodrome. And I honestly don't get it - [b]How is this enjoyable?[/b] [i]you are essentially idling at the same part for a 'better' chance at loot drops...[/i]
How hard is it to just play the game and [b]buy[/b] the gear you need instead of relying on Engrams?
Ie. Nightfall weekly gives shards, legendaries & exotics, so why not try your luck at a [u]definite[/u] drop? Daily Heroic gives 2 ascendant materials at the highest difficulty.
The point I'm trying to get across is that there are other methods to gaining light that aren't as shunned or as 'distasteful' as the engram farming method.
So please,
Stop exploiting it and try playing in a commendable way....

As of today, the loot cave & engram mission farming have officially been terminated. To all the 900+ replies of people defending their stance of [i]"I play MY way"[/i], well, now you can. You won't be rewarded for idling in front of a cave anymore. You'll actually have to move now to gain any kind of rewards.
But it's okay! I have no doubt that a third of you will stop playing now. <3
So you can all thank Bungie for clearing out all the wannabes & the abusers. Looking forward to seeing how you guys actually play [i]your[/i] way now.
Next on the list of improvements to be made: a fix to the random loot system in the coming weeks: a [u]risk v reward[/u] system would be nice. <3

I do it because I'm not lucky enough to get good items in Crucible .-. I got a legendary Fusion Rifle from it (it's the one from Dead Orbit I think). Nightfall Strikes I'm not even a high enough level yet lol.

1 ReplyI do not understand why people are having a problem with farmers. If they want to be ineffective then let them. Im in the same boat as you though. Never farmed at all, and at lvl28... have been able to acquire multiple legenday peices of armor, 1 exotic peice of armor, multiple legendary special and heavy weapons, 2 exotic bounty weapons, and 1 exotic heavy weapon. If they want to sit in one place and hope and wish for their armor/weapons... then let them rot. Me on the other hand, I will take control of my own Destiny. Only farming I have done is for mats to upgrade my legendaries and exotic dont get me wrong if u like farming engrams more power to ya but I have gotten all mine from cryptard and mark purchases alot of time saved. Have to agree with op on this one

You obviously got lucky with your loot.(Considering drop rates are random) so idk why you're trying to show off. No ones gonna praise you because you don't have to farm. Agreed, you shouldn't really expect usable gear for engrams after 24. But to each his own, farming engrams is good for more than just gear. Also: you're controlling a sequence of pixels with a joystick: NOTHING you do is 'commendable', especially considering the subjectivity of what can or cannot be deemed 'commendable'.

You and I are both at that point where need materials in order to level up because we need to upgrade our armor. That is exactly why I'm farming, it helping me get those materials faster.

"While I'm patrolling" lol you're such a clown. How is walking around a nearly empty map with only level 8 monsters fun? How is this enjoyable? Farming mobs isn't distasteful or shunned unless you're someone who has never participated in a real MMO.

3 RepliesI'm level 27 too and I don't "farm" by your definition but you realize that "grinding" is in essence the exact same thing. Played a strike playlist? Well you probably did for the guaranteed rare reward so guess what, you were farming. Played Crucible to maybe get better gear? You were farming, its just semantics. Besides, if you're level 27 why do you even care how others spend their time in the game? I loathe the Crucible myself because I didn't get this game for PvP, not to mention I dislike shotguns in this game anyway so I automatically suck on all of these close quarters maps. Do I concern myself with the people who only want to do Crucible? Of course not, its their perrogative. Unless you are hacking the game, there is no wrong way to get your legendary and exotic gear. Sounds like you just don't want people to have the same gear as you because you (like I did with my New Monarchy helmet and my Young Ahamkara's Spine gauntlet) got lucky with a couple of drops. Cry me a river.

17 RepliesI see you did 27 strikes... That means you did strikes over and over to get gear, marks, and reputation. Guess what... That's grinding, which means you were farming for gear, which means you farmed. The pot is calling the kettle black

All jokes aside, I do the Nightfall on Tuesday, I do all of my Vanguard/Crucible bounties within a few short hours of the bounty restocks, and then I go [i]somewhere[/i] to farm [i]something.[/i] Is that really so wrong?
