Personally, I like knowing that old friends will be there to play with me when life allows for sone trigger time.

2 RepliesA clan is different than your friends list, though the two are far from mutually exclusive. These fine people will be there to answer the call of "Game Time", and may even want to set up that "plan" you've been working on for that map. You'll discuss strategies. You'll laugh about the last game/title. You're there to game together. Set up game times on a forum, not a text message. Lay out maps with your favorite rush, and prepare for the next friendly grudge match with a rival clan. Do it.

So many cool ppl commented on this I kinda wish this WAS a clan lol

1 ReplyI've played video games since I was a wee lad, usually with my brothers while we told our mom we were doing homework. Fast forward a handful of years and online matchmaking with a few friends was fun when they were online, but when they weren't, it felt like something was missing. Having a clan full of battle bros at the ready has changed my gaming experience and given it a fresh breath of life. Don't get me wrong, in-game the chatter is frosty and tactical, but I've grown to enjoy the laughs in between matches almost as much as a well-coordinated team victory.

I joined a clan to be more creative with my gametime. I've made strategies, montages, websites, blog articles, and games to tell our war stories. It would be disingenuous to say that I made all these things alone. I've worked with many clan mates who have talents that are varied and broad. Together, we've been able to make some great content under our clan banner.

Gaming time is extremely valuable for an older gamer with a family like myself. When I push that button to power up my box I do so knowing I have a group of gamers there that will ensure I'm going to have a good time. A good time not only playing a game, but also a good time with chatter I enjoy. Oh yeah, and it doesn't hurt that I know they'll have my six when the time comes

Good reasons to join a clan are to expand your gaming circle of friends and enjoy the multiplayer aspect of games. When I started playing Halo 2 multiplayer, it was fun but I only had a few real life friends that gamed and they didn't play much. Joining a clan expanded the fun I had playing online and allowed me to participate on a team. I have been in my current clan for 4 years and gaming with some of them for 5. When you get the chance to meet someone you have literally spent days of in-game time making call-outs or talking about life, it's something you can't explain to someone that has never done it...there is a comfort and familiarity to those people if you ever get the pleasure of meeting them and remember to LAN hard, LAN deep. The great thing about clans is that these days there is usually a clan available for everyone. If you want to play competitively and discuss strategy and practice with a team, there are clans for you. If you want to play for fun and tell jokes in game, there are clans for you. If you want to trickshot, there are clans for you. In the past and if you weren't on B.net, you had to go out and forage your own space on the interwebs for your group. I'm looking forward to clan support in Destiny and how it will impact the community.

The best reason to join a clan for me is not only the old friends, but the new friends too. The bond you share between yourself and your clan brethren is a great feeling, especially when you really feel you belong. Above all though I think you should join to have fun. Why play a game made with love if you can't love playing it with the clan members who help make it fun

It's the feeling of camaraderie for me, knowing I will have people to always play with, count on to have my back, kickass, and have fun. Clans also give me a feeling of honor, I am always proud showing my clan colors, emblem and ranking. I feel a sense of personal honor during Clan Raids, or even in regular matchmaking.

I don't want to get too far into this discussion as I'm not sure that I'm a clan user. But I do want to bang the drum of -Leaderboards are only fun with friends. I hope the stats tie right in and can be used and customized within each clan. I think it's important if you're talking clans attached to games.

Thank you so much DeeJ, I can finally revisit the Destiny tag, because no more Clan advertising and the console war seems to have simmered down.

1 ReplyThere are so many that I'd sit here all night so I am glad you asked for only one. I guess one of the best reasons would be the people you meet. I have been fortunate to team up with some amazing people and every freaking day I meet even more fantastic people. These guys are a blast to play with as well as just sit back and talk with. Everyone puts their heart into being the best and it's amazing to see the rewards from our labor. I love you guys!

1 ReplyClans are a framework for friendship. With a clan I can always find teammates who will have my back and I can always be sure of good company. Clans provide certainty and stability in the maelstrom of matchmaking. Clans provide identity above one's online anonymity. Clans are awesome.

A good reason to join a clan is to find like minded gamers you can have fun with, continually have people to play that you know you can depend on, and gain tons and tons of new friends in the process. At the end of it all if your in one for even personal reasons you can even make a name for yourself.

I'll offer real money for anyone who joins.
Not really
The best reason for joining a clan is getting onto my PS4 and never seeing the friends list drop under 100. It makes sure that there is always someone to share adventures with no matter what time of day or night.

It's hard to find people you want to play with. Clans/ groups serve to narrow down the field into like-minded individuals. I have made a few threads for my group OTK- my most beloved group on this site- and for that in particular it's about finding like-minded people that make the most out of their gaming experience. It's a wonderful thing which is why I am so passionate about it.

The primary benefits of being in a clan are having access to tight-knit community. Benefits include allowing players to stage get togethers easier, host contests or tournaments, find players, and generally just make friends. It's like a support system that can also have fun events.

I have played with the same group for over eight years now and I wouldn't want to play online without them. I have flown across the country several times to game and drink with most members of my clan and look forward to when the next trip gets mentioned. When I'm online I know the voice in my headset, I know the person that voice belongs to and I know what that person is going to do during the game. Win or lose, you are with friends. Being in a clan of great people makes playing a bad game tolerable and makes playing a good game amazing!

2 RepliesIt's a great way to exert control over your gaming experience. Certainly you can do that by deciding who you are friends with online, I just view joining a clan as a way to sharpen that to a razor's edge. Maybe you can only game during a certain time or on a certain day. Joining a group may allow you to facilitate games at those particular times regularly, rather than just hoping people will be around. Maybe you have a very specific idea of the types of personalities that mesh well with you when gaming. A group is a good way to find like-minded individuals without having to sift for gold in the rivers of online gaming. If you're competitive, you can find like-minded gamers. If you're casual, you can find like-minded gamers. If you have particular gaming quirks (you prefer building stuff in-game or hiding in maps or you just really like driving a vehicle) you can find a group that suits those ideals, when even your closest friends might not enjoy those same things. And yeah, it's an easy way to make some new friends. Shared experience is the easiest way to build a new friendship, whatever the activity might be. So if you're new (or not) to gaming or new to a specific console landscape, finding a clan of people with a philosophy you endorse can make your gaming time a lot more fun.
