Whether it's design language, weapons or animations, there's an uncanny resemblance to destiny.
heck, the error codes are even the same.
thats not even considering the leaker who claims all of this is true.
anyone else have opinions on this .

Isn’t that crazy?
There has been no leak claiming this is cut Destiny content. It’s an IP that existed before Destiny and has a compelling different art style and uses completely different systems. Gunplay feels similar because it’s a bungie game, made by bungie…
3 RepliesWasn't Marathon their first game? I think it'd be more like Destiny was Marathon's sloppy seconds.

There’s a rumor that it was originally going to be a mode in D2, possibly in Gambit but it’s just a rumor. Gothalion had been suggesting for years a PvPvE public area where you had to get bounties and patrols completed while also engaging against opponent guardians. This one I know is not a rumor.

1 ReplySo I've heard this from a few streamers now so maybe true, but apparently Dr lupo went to bungie in late 2017 to play something, didn't say what but destiny stuff - asked him what he thought & apparently he didnt really like it, said it didn't fit in destiny or the current destiny back then. Never mentioned again. Late 2018 parsons gave 7-8 high up Devs the chance to pitch ideas for new games for after destiny, & just before Xmas 2018 ideas were pitched. 1 of them was Chris Barratts marathon, parsons green lit it, & there's strong suggestions that they've used whatever the destiny thing was that lupo played earlier that year, not sure if he recognised it or whatever as wasn't paying proper attention but I've head it now from more than 1 source. Same engine & sure does look like a destiny mode. Doesn't make any difference but the recycle kings don't miss, or waste :) won't be long until Roblox ghallarhorn turns up

2 RepliesEdited by jhermannITJ: 3/4/2026 12:37:32 AMIt's a prequel. [Not for Destiny players] was a flub, a mistake. It's tight mechanics Destiny... And yeah Darkzone... other players are a hazard. If you want to look at it like that. PvE bosses... The Butcher in Diablo. And Rook is another game. In the same game. Duos will be the most accessible once that goes live. I'm telling you, the reason I'm doing so well... is that there is so much carryover in the design/systems; buildcrafting especially which has been my specialty for 10+ yrs. And the irony is, if Bungie wanted to go w a PvE mode... they could. But I think they should wait at least a year for that. A Higher PvE Density Map... with opt-in dueling could be a thing. Make it really hard... to encourage squad Co-op. That could be a thing.

2 RepliesOf course it’s similar to Destiny. Look how similar Destiny 1 is to Halo Reach, even in design philosophy. While the gameplay is different, the way Destiny looks is rather similar to Halo Reach (from my limited experience playing Reach)

Kinda like it was developed by the same studio and lots of the same people.
