Beyond Light stream. Mark Noseworthy: "We don't want to reset player progress so we decided to cancel D3"
Then why the -blam!- are you sunsetting? You don't want a D3 because you want to pay respect to the time people have put into earning their desired loot. But sunsetting contradicts that narrative.

17 RepliesThat's because Making D3 or any New Content is hard - and takes people away from what really matters to Bungle, which is their NetEase "Matter" IP. If they had a D3, then they'd have to have a New Engine and Regional Dedicated Host Servers - instead of some cobbled together FrankenEngine from Halo Reach (2010) days and the same old broken tired cheap Peer to Peer Networking we have today. So to squeeze maximum money from the players, they continue to poop out half baked, untested Crap and hope people give them money.

They thought it would be better to expand on the reissuing of loot outside of iron banner (still can’t believe they had the same iron banner armour reissued to be earned 3 times lol). Now mostly all we will see is shit we’ve been getting for nearly 4 years with bare minimal “new” stuff lol. Wanna bet the vendors won’t even get a refresh come beyond light? 🙈😂

I know because I come from a clan of 20 everyday players , to none of us left even playing . I was the only one who bought Shadowkeep and quit after Lame Azz “You had to be there” seasons , Guess what Bungle I didn’t have to be there and now that I can’t get any of that limited time loot I have no reason to ever come back lmao

16 RepliesThey explained it pretty clearly. Its so you have a chance to use new content. For the past 2 years people have relied on whatever the current meta is or a combination of current meta/old meta. Basically whatever is optimal. If no sunset is applied most players will continue using Mountaintop/Witherhoard (Or whatever other primaries are currently in rotation), Recluse, and whatever the current heavy weapon meta is (most likely will remain swords). I got past light level grind from 800-1000 just by infusing Recluse and Witherhoard. Its just these guns are [b]too good[/b] for anything else.

1 ReplyWhile I have enjoyed playing so far, even after a long break from the game, I really can’t see myself continuing with the game based on the trajectory Bungie is setting it on. It sounds like more FOMO; play it when we release it because we’re deleting it later and you might never get to play it again. And to call it an MMO is a joke when it’s not “massive” at all. The biggest pve “activity” only holds six players. That’s not massive. The game can change directions to something more desirable but based off what they’ve said, it seems they’re set on this path and I’m not a fan of that. I mean...they’re bringing back more content from D1 to fill an expansion that probably will be lacking with good, authentic content. But hey, we brought back Cosmodrone and VoG! Like, prey on nostalgia a little more, why don’t you?

They dont care about our time and reskinning, reissuing and rotating gear anf content is easier for them than making a d3 or even new d2 content. Theyre off making their new i.p., d2 will fumble along on d1 ports till it eventually runs out and dies.

1 ReplyThey’re not making D3 because no major publisher is interested in working with them. They make a lot of money, but not enough to fund a new AAA live game.

There never was a D3. There’s no way that they would’ve been developing another sequel, which surely would’ve been made with the knowledge that most of its lifecycle would’ve been played on nextgen consoles, with the same engine and archaic p2p networking that they’ve been using. Meaning that if a D3 [i]was[/i] in development then it would’ve been developed using a whole new engine and I’d hope that dedicated servers would’ve been in the installation and coding processes. Meaning that, if they’d dedicated the development and financial resources to build a new engine and on new networking infrastructure, first of all there’s no way that they’d throw all that away and cancel the sequel, and secondly that they’d have to go back and build all this new fall expansion content from scratch in order to work on the [i]current[/i] engine. So yeah, there never was in D3 in anyway beyond the most prelimsrt conceptual stages. In other words, don’t get your hopes up that Beyond Light is going to be in any way more complete, substantial or polished than Shadowkeep was.

But it just would require more work for their poor hands and brains. Making a D3 would also mean a brand new engine (at least it should be) bc D2's uses a modified version of D1's engine and that includes alllll the issues from when they had it cross compatible with the previous gen consoles and thennnnn on top of thaaaat...D1's engine is a modified version of the Halo: Reach engine.

42 RepliesNot to mention with the removal of the vanilla campaign they're essentially getting rid of the core of D2 Love it or hate it, the first campaign for both D1 and D2 are the heart of their respective game. DLCs add on and improve the game overall, but removing the starting point/introduction to your game is such a weird move You're taking away 4 planets, the leviathan, and 3 campaigns just so you can replace them with two new locations and 1 campaign? Why?

Good. I don't want another vanilla period with barely content. It was a bit of a culture shock when I left D1 and started D2. But yeah, they still do the stupid sunsetting thing.
