For no reason other than, I wanted a break from farming Resonant Stems xD
But anyway, I was curious about DPS values of various weapon types so I pulled a few things from Collections/Vault and tested them in Tribute Hall vs the Simulated Legionary using headshots.
Then just using a simple (Damage Per Shot * RPM) / 60 calculation to find DPS (Not accounting for reloading or perks such as Rampage/Swashbuckler/Kill Clip)
Note: I only used Kinetic weapons, so some archetypes might be missing (Such as 400+ RPM Sidearms)
This is what I found out:
Auto Rifles:
360 RPM - 4,469 DPH - 26,814 DPS
450 RPM - 3,225 DPH - 24,187.5 DPS
600 RPM - 2,795 DPH - 27,950 DPS
720 RPM - 2,372 DPH - 28,464 DPS
Scout Rifles:
150 RPM - 9,350 DPH - 23,375 DPS
180 RPM - 7,600 DPH - 22,800 DPS
200 RPM - 7,464 DPH - 24,880 DPS
Pulse Rifles:
340 RPM - 4,266 DPH - 24,174 DPS
450 RPM - 3,293 DPH - 24,697.5 DPS
450 RPM (Blast Furnace) - 3,844 DPH - 28,830 DPS
530 RPM (Vigilance Wing) - 2,829 DPH - 24,989.5 DPS
540 RPM - 2,851 DPH - 25,695 DPS
Hand Cannons:
110 RPM - 15,980 DPH - 29,296.66 DPS
110 RPM (Sturm w/ bonus rounds) - 57,818 DPH - 105,999.66 DPS
140 RPM - 12,345 DPH - 28,805 DPS
150 RPM - 11,946 DPH - 29,865 DPS
180 RPM - 10,089 DPH - 30,267 DPS
180 RPM (Malfeasance) - 17,010 DPH (10,089 impact + 6,921 explosion) - 51,030 DPS
415 RPM (Crimson) - 4,397 DPH - 30,412.6 DPS
Submachine Guns:
600 RPM - 4,358 DPH - 43,580 DPS
750 RPM - 3,796 DPH - 47,450 DPS
900 RPM (750 Huckleberry w/ 2x RTB stacks) - 3,796 DPH - 56,954 DPS
900 RPM - 3,580 DPH - 53,700 DPS
Sidearms:
260 RPM - 11,038 DPH - 47,831.33 DPS
300 RPM - 9,935 DPH - 49,675 DPS
325 RPM - 9,141 DPH - 49,513.75 DPS
Bows:
680 Draw Time (88 RPM) - 29,870 DPH - 43,809.33 DPS
800 Draw Time (75 RPM) - 31,503 DPH - 39,378.75 DPS (Bearing in mind, this was No Turning Back thus has Explosive Head which lowers DPS)
920 Draw Time (Wish Ender, 65 RPM) - 50,442 DPH - 54,645.5 DPS
So yeah... Make of this what you will.
Bows technically, have really high DPS (If you ignore reload) matched only by Sidearms and SMGs. Hand Cannons follow up after that, then Blast Furnace, Auto's, non-Blast Furnace Pulses and finally Scout Rifles being bottom of the pack by a significant margin.
Also, fun fact, it seems that ALL bows get bonus damage when firing just after reaching full draw, not just Le Monarque. Though, it is not particularly significant outside of Wish Ender (For The Spiteful Fang it was about 800 damage difference, for No Turning Back it was about 700 damage from both the hit and the detonation for a 1400 total difference, while Wish Ender was about 2000-3000 from both hits for a total of 4000-6000 difference)

1 ReplyI have a masterwork spiteful fang with a draw time of 600. 😁 Also, what about Sturm? I heard it's the hardest hitting hand Canon.

4 RepliesEdited by Mpire4: 8/9/2019 3:15:34 PMI don't know why you guys say scouts and autos suck. I've destroyed a ton of people with them. Scout rifles dominate at long range. I've picked off a ton of people with my Purpose and Frostmire's Hex. Autos do probably need some work, but they can perform well when used properly. For autos I'd recommend Suros Regime as a starter before you branch out to other types. I personally use the Loquitor IV because it handles like my Destiny 1 auto The Dealbreaker. I do think autos need a bit of a buff, but scouts are doing fine and no one's noticed.
I like using weapons no one likes. I was a No Land Beyonder before it was cool.
Thank you Sir

So what you're saying is Nerf pulse rifles?

2 RepliesI’m not sure if they’ve fixed this. If they have disregard this. One warning. Delta scaling does not work in this room like it does in the rest of D2. Ehror sums it up. https://youtu.be/hc5_eGJZqTs

5 RepliesCurious to see how range effects damage fall off. Scouts work great as an invade primary when your playing gambit. In some of the longer maps in pvp, I'll use a transfiguration with great success.

Edited by thatdudeEd54: 8/10/2019 1:10:04 AMPower level matters aswell. Were all these weapons around the same power level?
-
2 RepliesWhat activity was used to get these numbers? Not every thrall, major, or boss take the same amount of damage across the board
-
1 Replywhat about 150 hand cannons? :)

2 RepliesEdited by alicatt2215: 8/9/2019 3:09:53 PMWere all weapons used 750?

2 RepliesFunny thing is, is that despite autos having high fire rates that they still put out a near similar to lower dps than a good chunk of the weapons you provided. At the range they operate at, it's pretty pathetic.

2 RepliesBlast furnace with the right rolls is really good

The bow damage thing is called perfect draw, it applies to all bows and is a universal mechanic usually indicated by lights and stuff on the bow.

Edited by Demon_XXVII: 8/9/2019 2:32:57 AMGreat post But what about the deadliest ever kinetic strike Judo Chop How many dps’s is that? Gotta be nearly 1 million! 👍 Only rivalled by the “1 inch step” - fall off that and it’s Insta-death 😆

1 Replywhy would I wanna use wish ender for bosses😂😂😂💁♂️?! ...or why should I use it against weak enemies? why?! it might have high dps for a bow, but in the end it’s just a bow with slow drawtime.
-
3 RepliesDo you have the numbers for 200 RPM and 260 RPM scout rifles? Pretty sure they’re few in number anyway but it’s nice to see I guess.
-
3 RepliesThis explains why nobody uses auto rifles or scouts.
-
3 RepliesDidn’t include a 750 RPM SMG. FeelsBadMan.

Sadly, I don't think RPM numbers are completely accurate to how many rounds per minute they actually fire.

Great. Thanks for reminding me that scout rifles still suck. That’s just... that’s still very disappointing. Seriously though, this is great info, thanks for putting it together!
-
Sweet read, thanks for putting it together! With Shadowkeep on the horizon, I’ve been slowly whittling away some of the lesser used weapons in my inventory. This should be a big help!
-
Man scouts really do need a buff. Sidearms seem like good dps but unreliable due to recoil and range
-
You forgot the high rpm scout rifles like Black Scorpion.

Should've used greg
