Tips for crucible aim?

Hi! I’m not a new destiny player but I’ve never been into crucible, Just not for me I guess. I was wondering if anyone had tips for aim and/or comp in general? (I’m going for mountain top and recluse atm)

    • Just do what all the disgusting, disturbing, dirty, nasty evil, spineless, gutless, yellow-bellied, backing stabbing, cowardly, psychopathic, sweaty, pub stomping,,elitists do. By a lag switch and modded controller and you will be good to go

      • For mountain top don’t bother with comp. you don’t get nearly enough power ammo to get progress. Also don’t bother with fighting lion unless you have militias birthright or some other primary grenade launcher. This week the nightfall is lake of shadows, so if you don’t have militias, now is a good time to get it. My only advise for recluse is to play smart, use whatever weapons are meta right now, get a team if you can, and just grind it out till the end. Good luck to you.

I picked up D1 as a RPG player with very little FPS background and feel like I’ve become fairly decent. I put my aim mainly down to using handcannon’s in PvE almost exclusively to begin with. These weapons are unforgiving if you’re not hitting headshots and so it became muscle memory to take just slightly longer to aim always go for precision - over time I got faster and faster at hitting my headshots. I know other weapons don’t rely on precision as much but just having the mentality of emphasising crits over all else has helped me massively, even using an auto rifle, I go for headshots. TLDR; Tip #1 : Use handcannon’s in PvE Once you feel comfortable with your aim then there are other aspects of PvP that are just as important. If you’re new to PvP then I’d first focus on good positioning by limiting the angles in which your opponent can hit you. Take a more passive play style and ‘lane’ certain areas of the map. TLDR; Tip #2: Focus on positioning and holding down specific lanes Everyone has certain weapon types they enjoy using and Destiny 2 is fairly well balanced whereby every weapon type has something that compete. Autos and Scouts are regarded as the worst but they even have Suros/ Jade Rabbit. However, if you’re slightly new to PvP and still getting up to speed I’d strongly suggest using the Meta and what guns are regarded as the best/easiest to use choices. At the moment handcannon’s (180’s specifically) and adaptive Pulse Rifles (Bygones etc) are probably the best for console. If you’re playing passive then I’d actually pair these with a shotgun to defend against other shotgun players and a rocket launcher heavy. TLDR; Tip #3: Use the Meta - I didn’t write it but this also applies to subleases and exotic armour with bottom tree Striker Titan wearing a one eyed mask being the best at the moment. Lastly, you say you’re going into Comp to try and get the pinnacle weapons. A lot of PvE-only players are currently trying to obtain Mountaintop and Recluse to use in PvE. Although these weapon are ‘optimal’ in a lot of scenarios I feel like they will receive a nerf in the near future. To add to this, there are plenty of loadouts that easily compete with this set up that do not require PvP. If you’re new to PvP in general then achieving the requirements of these quests may be extremely difficult to achieve. Many players on these forums complain about this and get put off the game when they feel they cannot achieve them. My honest opinion is that if you’re only doing this for those weapons, then it will not be worth it and may even alienate you from wanting to play game as a whole. TLDR; Tip #4: Don’t force it, the guns won’t be on top forever and there are currently load outs that are basically as good.

Mountain Top: Many strategy videos online. I had most success as a tether hunter in Mayhem. Heavy spawns like every 30 seconds and you can tether all the time. Tether 2 and kill one, you get an easy double kill. Comp tips: Video on aiming: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYJC5S3sz5E Go into private matches to learn names of map locations (name is on the left side of screen), good for callouts when you play in a team. That can help with map knowledge and then you can also practice jumps and how to travel around the map. Playing in the mornings can be easier than in the evenings. My favorite is weekend mornings. Using meta weapons and a strong offensive super definitely helps. Use what works, use want Bungie gives you that is strong and don't mind what people say about "cheap" weapons. Take what's yours! If you cant find good people in LFG to play with, its probably because their skill level is better than yours (no offense meant), I also run into this issue. I have an approximate 1.2 KD and 1.7 KDA. I try to use solo matchmaking help me find friends. If you play some matches and you like one or two people you played with, send them a "GG" good game, and ask if they would like to party up and play together. Why I think this is a good idea, Bungie matched you up with them, they probably have a similar skill level and are in a similar spot in grinding glory. Use bonus points to your advantage. If you play 3 games a week, you can get a 120 glory bonus. If you play all 12 weeks, that’s 1440 free points. You only need 660 points to get to fabled. Learn strategies for "Countdown", usually kill an enemy and rush the survivors. Don't arm the bomb unless you kill one of theirs first. Practice in Rumble or QP new weapons and supers Practice in Rumble your one on one skills. If you cant kill one person by yourself, it will be much harder for you to help out your team. Probably common knowledge, If you are the only one with a super, that can be a great time to use yours. No one around to counter you easily with a super of their own. Also you start generating orbs for your team mates so they can get their supers going. Watch Youtube strategy videos from Coolguy, True Vanguard, CammyCakes, Aztecross Gaming. Some of these guys even have their own Discord channels where you can LFG with their fans. I had good success with Coolguys. Some videos to improve game play. https://youtu.be/74e3mByi0d0 https://youtu.be/3lkQ5ovg4t4 https://youtu.be/IwjvqF1dh5o https://youtu.be/hRrLSbizeKk https://youtu.be/oEqrWYQMoAM Super Mods, weapon scavenger perks, targeting Mods, Reload Mods, Dexterity and resilience Mods. Masterwork armor for more defense while in super form. On console, I use jumper controls. It allows me to punch and jump without having to take my thumb off of the look stick (practice new controls in pve, try doing a jumping punch (or shotgun) on someone's head). I also use an Elite controller, it allows me to put a button on the bottom of the controller so I can crouch or slide without taking my thumbs off the sticks. I recently started putting a button under the controller for the action button so I can shoot while I revive or disactivate a bomb and not be a sitting duck. The elite controller allows me to play other games and make the button layout identical to destiny so my buttons don't get mixed up in my head. Good luck on your journey!

            • I've always struggled in the crucible, but these last few months I've upped my game immensely with one simple change: Take. Your. Time! I tend to spam shots and rush into the fray, but that's a bad idea 😅 line up one shot at a time, hit each one, and use cover to your advantage. You'll lose a lot at first, but eventually you will adjust and get faster and faster without having to think about it. Also, look for high impact low recoil weapons. Trust is the HC that changed things for me. Super low recoil and decent impact to train yourself with in PVP. (I'm still not great at PVP, but these things helped me so much!)

              • Aim for the head. Seriously though, If you're on console or using a controller, strafe for fine horizontal adjustments. Aim assist will screw you up if you try to do it with the right stick. But, that's something even PvE players know, so...keep your muscles relaxed and don't get flustered. Other than that, just play like you would in PvE. Aiming isnt that different.

Aim for the face and stick with your team for orbs. Run weapons that create orbs for teammates.

                • Use a 3rd party site to make sure your guns are getting values of 5 or close to on recoil direction so that your recoil is more likely to be vertical. Make sure your connection and your opponents is amazing otherwise it barely matters anyway 'cos P2P is a garbage, backwater, 3rd rate, chinese-knockoff, cheapskate system and it doesn't matter how good you are because if the connection is off then hits wont register properly anyway. Practice on annoying enemies like the teleporting taken. Slap targeting adjusters on everything because it gives you +5 aim assist. Understand that Comp often has a different pace to it over quickplay, and that rushing in like a madman will likely get your head exploded. If you're not sure what to do, use something with a bit of range and shadow another player who looks like they're reasonably good (with a respectable distance of course, if you block them in by being too close they'll get REALLY mad) and try to protect them or cover their flanks etc. Don't go blindly hardscoping the exact same opponent or lane as it'll likely get you BOTH flanked. Use cover... don't go standing in the middle of a lane trying to pop off. You want to go for angles that keep you covered from other directions. Facing off with someone whilst your side is facing an open doorway is a good way to get flanked and killed.

                • Pick your shots, naturally your instinct will be just to spam shots until the baddy is dead but take the second to make sure your aimed at and tracking the head then go for it every trigger pull make sure you’re still taking the few milliseconds to adjust your aim back to the head. Weapons and ability selection can make a HUGE difference as well don’t even try and auto rifle lol

                • PC: Depends on your style. If you like to wrist aim, try higher dpi and sens, if you like to arm aim, try Lower sens and dpi Console: Mess around with each out of 10. Try maybe 2 games each with one and see which one fits well.

Targeting perks on armour may help. There aren’t really tips on how to aim it’s like asking for tips on how to walk. Tips on gun engagements, awareness and load outs maybe

                  • I can't give any tips about aiming but a general crucible tip is to not rush unless you're in a group rushing together. Most of the time it's going to be best to grab a weapon like Bygones and stay back with your team and shoot from a distance.

Practice, just keep playing. Nobody got good overnight, it takes time for everyone. So the best tips I can give you for PvP in general are: 1. Practice 2. Don’t get discouraged if you play bad 3. Don’t use bad weapons (I can give you a list of guns that are worth using).
