First off, I love the mission as a whole. Unfortunately have not completed it yet. Got to boss room with just over 4 minutes (been our best time so far in 16 attempts) and ran out of time with just a Tank with a sliver of health remaining.
There’s a lot of posts complaining about the Timer. Personally I don’t have a problem with a timed mission, but I do have a problem with mission mechanics that exist just to waste time.
There are 2 elements of the mission that the player has no control over that wastes times, and if the player gets unlucky can ruin the entire run. Those elements are:
Electrical Barriers in Switch Room
Slow Lifts (just after Switch Room)
As far as I can tell, there is no way to get through electrical barriers and you encounter them every time no matter what route you take. Typically I get stuck at least 3 times. If you are unlucky enough you get trapped at barrier when claw comes, it greatly increases time in the room and can lead to a loop of getting trapped, killed, trapped killed. This mechanic is only a trap designed to waste the players time. Weather by several 3 sec delays or trapped to lead to death by machine that can’t be outrun.
Then comes the slow lifts. I have not found a way to platform these to get up any faster. It appear you just have to wait it out. (Edit: It appears you can scale the metal framing in the side of the room, but it’s more risky and not a whole lot faster)
A possible 3rd time wasting element is the hidden vault door that won’t open unless you stand in just the right spot. Most of the time it opens no problem, but others it just won’t open and I lose like 10-15 seconds. Would be better if there was a switch or wall plate to activate this door, so it could be opened quickly 100% of the time.
Again, I’m all for timers if the player has complete control on how fast they progress. Faster mobility, quick enemy clears, precision platforming, timing movement against moving obstacles, etc.....that’s all good. But mechanics that forces player to stand and wait while a timer ticks away is not one I can appreciate.
The devs could remove barrier walls and make lifts faster and reduce the timer by 30 seconds and have basically the same effect (time wise that is, electrical barriers add more of an obstacle that just time wasting)
I would much prefer if the electrical barriers had a faster refresh rate but were tied to the switches where activating switches drops the barriers for extended time frame (5 seconds?). So you hit a switch and if you go the right route and move quickly enough you can keep barriers down by hitting switches. But if you don’t get to them then you have to deal with barriers that only stay up about half the time of the current ones. This would still create the same trap scenarios but give players more control over the amount of time spent in that room.
Just my 2 cents

Edited by Jet: 5/12/2019 4:01:42 PMYou are biitching about those two things? Really? In most of the random groups I've been in, I solo'd the switches before the other two guys got there. The elevators are slow because they haven't been maintained in so long. Trevor can't fit his fat ass through the door to repair them! It takes like 2 minutes to kill the boss. Have someone use whisper on the tanks and someone else slova bomb the servitors with skull of dire ahamkara.

Just get rid of the electric barriers, but give Trevor some cocaine so he moves even faster.

5 RepliesTimers are artificial difficulty. It's lazy game design.

3 RepliesEdited by Why is this happening?: 5/12/2019 3:03:07 AMElectrical barriers in Trevor's room are all linked to each lever. You pull a lever and it triggers a barrier. When all 4 are pulled they continue on a continuous pattern until you leave. Not hard to understand. The elevators are meant to be slow. If you want to go faster, then climb the beams along the wall and quit your complaining.

3 RepliesI love this mission. I've always been a fan of this stuff. I personally see the 20m timer as an excuse to master the mission. Spent the first few attempts doing it blind and making my way to the boss, then a few more attempts fine tuning my speed in the jumping puzzles and add clearing so I can get to the boss faster. Eventually I got to the boss with 8 minutes to spare which is plenty of time to get it done. The feeling it gives me knowing I started at the bottom and climbed to the top to get my favorite gun in the destiny franchise made it that much more satisfying when I finally got my completion. Then doing the 15m speed run for the emblem was just icing on the cake. I personally can't wait to see more of these implemented :)

Y’know, I wonder if we’re going there again, but not in a timed mission. The Fallen transponder quest didn’t update or go away, and drifter wants us to grab something from the vault for him

I’ve figured out both those parts. each left ascends at a set time, yeah it takes longer than it should but I don’t think it needs changes The electric walls pop up after you pull the switch in that area, and after I think 7-10 second intervals activates for 5ish seconds. It’s a lot more consistent than I originally thought

Menu glitch it.
