ladies and gentlemen! We have a winner! Please welcome your new official #lore Warlock vanguard Sherlock Holmes! And the #lore Warlock head scholar Bumblebee793!
To be a Warlock is to be not just a warrior, but a scholar. No information too obscure, no book too dark, no artifact undiscovered. To be a #lore Warlock you revel in the forgotten and obscure, you thrive off of knowledge that only the wisest of the wise can decipher. So tell me participants! How well do you truly know this universe of ours?
For this challenge you must name and list every single sentient race/ organic creature that has ever been mentioned in the book's of sorrow, the shadows of Calus lore entries, and are seen in game (a sentient organic creatures can communicate with someone in some way shyaor or form, for example the worm Gods). You must also be very specific in where you can find these aliens and familiar faces, try to detail the exact lore entry the can be found in. The more detailed the list the better. Myself and the other two judges will decide who has the most information and best answers
So goodluck everyone, and may the smartest Warlock win!
disclaimer: LIST THEM! NOT WRITE AN ENTIRE BOOK ABOUT EACH ONE
38 RepliesEdited by Warlock Holmes: 11/25/2018 4:43:43 AM
ok mine broke the character limit so let me try something
(darkness and light grimoire cards d1 along with arc, sol, void and basic science) So where should we begin. Well let us begin with the fundamental forces of the universe. The universe is filled with the forces surrounding it. Gravity, magnetic forces, arc, sol, void. And all of them are forces but they aren’t really sentient. But there are two forces that are technically by your definition sentient. The dark and the light, deep and the sky. Being a warlock doesn’t only mean that I am a scholar and a warrior, but I also question everything. I am to find out the truth of the universe not just random theory’s. So I can believe that the traveler is the only source of the light and the pyramid ships are the only source of the dark. There is no time for my opinion in my profession but there are many theory’s about the two objects. And each and every theory they react with is, not necessarily speak with hs but they are important to our lives as guardians and to the forces of the universe we live in and strive to study. Now with that being said I still need to account for the traveler and the pyramid ships. They may be the light and dark themselves or just agents of it but they are sentient and do communicate with us through ghosts and many many other ways. The traveler made us and reacted to ghaul. It’s my job as a warlock to consider every single possibility but I know it is sentient. Same with the pyramids. (First couple books of sorrow entries) Now moving on we have the planet of fundament. There where hundreds of different sentient species on that planet but they are all not named.there where the helium drinkers, a three eyed creatures, stormjoys, starcutters, needleship-builders, ammonite along with thousands of other unintelligent races and five hundreds fourteen intelligent ones. With 52 moons, fundament was the planet where the proto hive lived before there deals with the worm gods. First the proto-hive. A Species with a Low life span. Originally oryx was one along with his two sisters. The tree sisters where hunting down there mother(who could Stil be alive and a proto-hive) now the task wasn’t to recall the entire history, but as a warlock I should know our enemy’s past and so I will. The sisters encounter the leviathan. No not calus ship but a giant worm like creature that worked for the light (the sky is what is mentioned). It warned the sisters not to go any deeper but they didn’t heed its warning. The leviathan later joins the battles on the moons of fundament where it is later killed. Now that leads us to the worm gods. The creatures of darkness. Theory’s state that they are related to the wish dragons(later on the list) the worm gods are beings of power. Servants of the darkness itself.(more book of sorrows) The worms gave power to sisters by giving them hive worms that morphed and changed them. The hive worms wanted slaughter. The more you killed the more powerful you got and the more you had to kill. And that leads us to the next race on this list. Te hive are murdered beings. They serve there worms and enjoy pain and suffering. Starting as thralls, the more they kill the more morphs they get. Slowly building up power so they become gods, if they live that far. Death make them more powerful. Hive gods own throne worlds in the ascendant plane. When they die they go to there throne world until there killed there. (Hive d1 lore) Now, after becoming the gods they where, the hive began conquering the moons of fundament. There conquest lead them to battle with the Ammonite, six armed creatures that where patrons of the traveler. The battles where harsh but eventually the hive won. There where many other battles for the moons of fundament and across the universe, which the hive won. Fighting the Qugu, the raven people called the Taishibethi during the golden amputation conflict. They destroyed the spacefaring Dakaua of the Dakaua. Nest. And finally they destroyed the harmony, a spacefaring group who controlled nine planets and homework’s is Ana-harmony. Circling a black hole. The harmony was basically made to defeat the hive. And it took lots of hive effort to kill the harmony, after there many wars across the cosmos, the hive built up forces an attacked each other to prepare for war. Now all of these races where sentient and organic races that where enemy’s of our enemy’s and ended up dead. Why is this important? As a warlock I know my enemy’s history and can uses this history of there many battles that I could tell about against them one day. One must understand there enemy’s to fight them. (Later book of sorrows. Kind of in the middle) (Cabal lore. D1 and D2) Now let’s move away from the hive for a little bit. Now let us talk about the cabal. Space turtle rinos, the cabal are a militaristic race. Theory’s say they where based off of the Roman Legion. They go across the universe and conquest for there empire. The cabal encounters and subjugates others. A example of this is the psion. A race that use there minds for power and are really powerful and interesting. They are found on normal cabal ranks because thy have been integrated into cabal military. (Leviathan lore)The current empire leader of the cabal, emperor Calus, claimed to travel to the edge of the universe where he saw something and started running. Through this journey Calus started collecting shadows. People of different races to personally serve him as assassins. One of his shadows was a high powered psion. A powerful individual. Next we jarus of the sindû, the sindû being there own independent race before taken over by the cabal loyalist. (Mask/robes of the fulminator)The fulminator, a arkborn. The arkborn where another race. They might be connected to the light or even the darkness in one way or a other. They reside in ark conduits that dwarf the mighty leviathan (the ship not the creature). They bare similarlys with a race know as the Stormjoys on fundament. The Clipse where another race across the vast mysterious universe. They where mostly peaceful until the cabal came. The Clipse sent all there warriors to attack the leviathan but only one, called Rull, survived. He then became a shadow. Why are these important? The cabal has been our enemy’s for a real long while and it is important to know about there ally’s and powers. Also Calus has made it know that he wants us to be his shadow, and he could be a ally of us. We need to know as much about our enemy’s as possible.

15 RepliesEdited by Bumblebee793: 11/25/2018 2:55:17 PMFirst and foremost are Humans. Humans are the earliest race to of the three available races. their grimoire card describes them as tough and resilient and are the most dedicated to preserving Earth. First and foremost are Humans. Humans are the earliest race to of the three available races. their grimoire card describes them as tough and resilient and are the most dedicated to preserving Earth. The Exo are the the second earliest of the three available races. though sentient, they are mostly robotic. Exos were created by the Clovis Bray foundation in an attempt to further the already tripled life-span of humans. Some of the first Exos, such as Cayde six were test subjects and were created mainly for combat as many of them served as bodyguards. The Exos were created in the deep stone crypt and many Exos have frequent visions of it. Some believe the deep stone crypt is located on Enceladus but it has yet to be confirmed. Though most Exos act as normal people, they do not actually need sleep or food, making eating and sleeping more of a pleasure than a necessity. The Awoken are the newest of the available races to choose from. They are most noticeable by their blue skin. The Awoken live primarily in the Reef close to their birthplace the Dreaming city. Though they mainly live in the Reef some have migrated to the last city under the protection of the guardians and the Traveler. They were once human but they transformed by being caught between the power of darkness and light making causing them to walk a thin line between both. The Eliksni otherwise known as the fallen are a group of space pirates. They came to the solar system in pursuit of the traveller who once graced their planet but left in the wake of the great whirlwind. The great whirlwind eradicated most of their civilization and many houses such as the house of rain. The Eliksni houses were once united but following the whirlwind have become divided and are often seen warring with each other only recently working together. They are most noticeable by their four arms and are likened unto spiders. The Hive are a race of darkness worshiping space zombies thriving on death and destruction to feed the worms that keep them alive. They were once another race known as the Osmium, but made a pact worth the worm gods to keep themselves alive from the flood. A full history of the hive can be found in the pages of sorrow but it is to long to write and i still have a long way to go The vex are a species of aquatic organisms that transferred themselves to robot bodies to better further their civilization. Though they contain organic components they do not have full free will as they are controlled by vex minds known as the Collective Minds. The vex have been known to alter time and reality to find the perfect outcome in which they have integrated everything into their vex mind and have preserved all knowledge for eternity. As revealed by the omega mechanos helmet, the Vex don’t actually intend to kill us, but in the process of converting us into data strips it kills us. They can accurately simulate most other races but cannot simulate Taken, Guardians, or warminds as Taken and Guardians generate paracausal fields and warminds actively try to be unpredictable. The Cabal is a war-based society bent on ruling everything and can be likened unto the ancient Romans in Human history. They use advanced weaponry and if a planet does not comply to their will they will straight up blow up their solar system. Though most are against the Guardians some groups seek to enlist them in their armies as Guardians are one of the most powerful groups in existence. The friendly Cabal refer to guardians as the Guardian tribe. Psions are a race conquered by the cable and “persuaded” to join their ranks. They possess psychic powers and are master scouts and snipers, but are fairly weak in hand-to-hand combat. Warbeasts are hound-like animals trained by the cabal. It is not known whether they were from a conquered planet or the Cabal homeworld. The worm gods are powerful worm-like entities who lend their power to the hive in exchange for their loyalty. The worms that live inside the hive are the children of these gods and are quite similar to their parents in every aspect except power. The Leviathan is a aquatic creature who lived in the oceans of Fundament guarding the prison that held the worm gods before its death to Oryx and his sisters. He is an ally to the Traveller. The Arkborn are a race of electrical entities that live inside giant arks and are a peaceful race. Their name “Arkborn” could be derived from “Arcborn”, meaning born from electricity, or “Arkborne”, meaning riding on arks. The Taken are race controlled by Oryx and the darkness and only few of them possess free will. Their abilities depend on what they wanted most before wanted before being turned (for example psions worried about there being to few of them so Oryx granted them the ability to replicate). The Scorn are a race of resurrected fallen enslaved by the Fanatic. Their only instinct is to kill everything except each other and their barons. The Darkness is the sworn enemy of the Traveller and will stop at nothing to destroy it. Their appearance along with almost all other aspects of it is unknown. The Traveller is the sworn enemy of the Darkness. It provides Guardians with their power. The Ghosts were created by the traveler to choose worthy individuals to fight as guardians for the traveler. If i’m considering the Scorn and Taken as a separate race i will consider Guardians one too. The Guardians are warriors who fight for the traveler. Though most will consider them undead warriors there are special cases were living people were chosen. The Ammonites are a species graced by the traveler. They were a peaceful race before the Hive eradicate them. The Taishibethi were a race of Avian creatures who spanned multiple planets and made star-webs in which their children were born. They were destroyed by the hive in the golden amputation. The Eclipse were a war ravaged people on the brink of extinction until they were saved by Calus The Sindu are a race that inhabits gas giants and were “persuaded” to comply with calus. The Ecumene were an advanced civilization spanning multiple planets before all being wiped out by the hive. The Dacaua was a part of the Ecumene before being wiped out by the hive The Jovians live primarily on Europa and are largely associated with the nine. The only thing we know about the Jovians appearance is from Xur who appears to have shadowy tentacles coming from his face. they hold a fragile relationship with the Awoken of the Reef and almost started a war with them before the Awoken gifted them some Fallen prisoners. the Jovians immediately released them because reasons. (Wanted: Skolas grimoire card) The Ahamkara are a species of wish dragons who grant wishes to others but will twist them if the wisher is not careful. They possess the power to shape-shift. All but one (Riven) were eradicated during the great Ahamkara hunt. late Riven was taken by Oryx and killed by the Guardians. whether any other Ahamkara exist elsewhere in the universe is unknown. The Harmony is a Species destroyed by the hive. In the gift mast grimoire card it says they turn into dragon wishes, which might mean they have a connection with the ahamkara. They were once visited by the traveler and were left with an item called the gift mast as revealed in the i'd throw them in cells grimoire card. they weaponized their nearby dead star that the Hive nicknamed "The Sting". The Qugu was a race of animals. Millions of years before being eradicated by the Hive they were infected with a virus that through years of evolution wrote itself into the creatures Dna and caused them to offer limbs for amputation. (Fire without fuel book of sorrow entry). Holy crap that's alot of species. i would add more detail but i was worried about a character cap and i'm to lazy to go back through it.

3 RepliesThe first race is the human race they were quite active during the golden age and they spread all over the solar system during the golden age but after the collapse many were killed and they now only reside on earth. One of the three races currently capable of wielding light. The second race is the exos built during the golden age they are believed to have been the answer to immortality. Because a human could transfer their brain into one and then they would be an exo (we don’t really know how that works so I kinda oversimplified it). Others believe the exos were built to be machines of war but we will never know for sure. After the collapse many exos were killed too. They currently reside on earth and are one of the three races currently able to wield light The awoken are shrouded in mystery they are believed to have originated by literally being sucked into the void while they were on one of the exodus colony ships during the collapse while some stayed in this void others followed Mara sov out of it and made their home in the reef other awoken tried to make it to the tower and some succeeded however some died and became guardians. (Eg zavala) they are one of the three races currently able to wield light. We know almost nothing of the jovians largely associated with the nine and believed to once be human they are quite mysterious indeed. The only Jovian we know of is xur and we think they come form Europa. The elixni, or as we call them, the fallen once were a proud race and they were the race previously touched by the traveler. Until oryx the taken king came and destroyed their civilization forcing the traveler to leave them. Their only goal was to take back the traveler, but now after constant losses they just seem to want to rob and steal. They can be found all over the solar system The scorn are pretty much dead fallen brought back with hive magic. Used to push uldren sov’s takeover of the reef. They can be found in the reef. The hive are creatures of pure evil and they make up a few creatures on this list. The worm gods rule over the hive they are pure evil and hard to kill. The hive made a deal with these oversized worms for power, now living in each and every one of them is a little worm parasite only satisfied with continual slaughter. They can be found all over the system. The taken are zombie warriors of multiple races who were controlled by the taken king oryx until he was killed. Now they wander aimlessly around the solar system just being a general pain The vex only want one thing universe domination. Possibly capable of time travel and capable of simulating any possibility. I could teach a whole class on the vex there’s too much to explain here. They are found all over the system. The cabal know only one thing, war. Several legions have been dispatched from their home planet to kill us. And the red legion almost succeeded. They are made up of 2 races: the cabal and the psions who are pretty much the brains of the operation literally. I don’t want to dive into there culture here but it’s basically kill everything. They can be found on their home planet several light years away from us. But they can be found all over the system. There are many callus took to be “shadows” an elite force of many races. The races known are. The clipse were a war torn race on the brink of extinction until callus “saved them” we don’t exactly know where they are now the sindu, who inhabited the gas giants of the spinward marshes And finally the arkborn living electricity. After we killed riven we believe the ahhamkara are extinct “wish dragons” of terrible power who could make any dream a reality even after death. Way to much to talk about here The following are the species mentioned in the book of shadows there are a lot so I’m going to breeze through them The Leviathan: hive creature of legend tried to get the hive to follow the light. the Taishibethi species: who fought oryx off when he invaded then home planet taishibeth. the Ammonite civilization: which spread across the fifty-two moons of the planet Fundament. The hive home planet. They were destroyed by the hive The Ecumene (or Amiable Ecumene) was an interstellar government composed of multiple advanced spacefaring species in a distant galaxy. They were all destroyed by the hive. The dacaua were apart of the ecumene. The harmony: another species destroyed by the hive the Helium Drinkers: they also lived on fundament with a powerful military. They were destroyed by the hive. Gugu: another species the hive destroyed. And finally I’m going to include ghosts on this list because they are sentient. This took me all morning to write.

Edited by gary_smith1969: 11/25/2018 3:41:01 AMOk, edited, final copy, checked the grimoire and leviathan gear tabs, I believe these are all the names sentient races. Non-names races, like the 519 non named races on Fundament, or the countless other races in the cabal other than cabal and psions, are obviously not included here. Inside the parentheses is the source, grimoire, in game lore book, or gear tab, of where it is mentioned. Many are mentioned many times (guardians, ghosts, traveler, hive, fallen, etc., and I reference the card focusing only on that race.) No crazy paragraphs for each race, I don’t have that much time. This does not include exos, frames, darci, etc., as they are not organic Arcborn (Original leviathan Warlock set) Clipse (Original leviathan Titan art) Cabal (The Cabal) Psion (Psion) Sindū (Hunter leviathan gear) Leviathan (fundament one, not the ship)(Verse1:2) Traveler (The Traveler) Worms (Verse 1:5) Guardians (Guardians) Ghost (Ghosts) Ahamkara ( Ghost Fragment: Legend 3) Awoken: (Ghost Fragment: Awoken) Human: (Ghost Fragment: human) Vex (The Vex) Eliskni (The Fallen) Hive (The Hive) Taken (The Taken) Scorn (Lore books The Loyal and The Forsaken Prince) The Darkness (Some theories(Saint-14s mostly) think it is a race or coalition of races scorned by the traveler for their sins, so sentient) (The Darkness) Stormjoy (1:Predators(books of sorrow)) Ammonites (Verse 2:4) Qugu (Verse 3:3) Dakaua/Ecumene (Verse 3:5) Harmony ( Verse 5:3) The nine/jovians (Ghost fragment: Legends 2) Hope this is what you were looking for, if not, there goes 2 hours of my life. 2 RepliesEdited by ShadowSniper770: 11/25/2018 4:18:10 PMFor the Book of Sorrows, I opted to use the ‘Verse’ way of describing the lore entry. Mostly because that makes it sound like a real book, which is sick. Ahem. Anyways, I’m assuming you want a big list. Here ya go! Hive (in-game. A good lore reference is Verse 3:0, and an even better one is Verse 3:9) Proto-Hive (term for Hive before their current form. Called such first by the Dakua, in Verse 3:5.Verse 1:1 is the beginning of the proto-Hive) Krill (see Proto-Hive. Name is a reference to Earth krill, small and easily eaten) Bone Plaza (Verse 1:0) Starcutters (Verse 1:0) Leviathan (Verse 1:8) Ammonites (Verse 1:8 first reference, 2:4 directly) Taishibethi (Verse 4:0) Ecumene (Verse 3:5) Harmony (Verse 5:3) Qugu (Verse 3:3) ‘sessile jaw-beasts’ (Verse 3:3. A Qugu virus forces the Qugu to feed their amputated limbs to these) Helium Drinkers (Verse 1:1) Stormjoys (Verse 1:1) ‘Vast anemones’ (Verse 1:7) Worm Gods (Verse 1:9, in-game. Notable foreshadowing at the end of Verse 1:5) ‘[the Worm Gods’] larvae [worms]’ (Verse 1:9) Vex (only partly. Remember the white radiolaria is partly biological, the metal ‘shell’ is not.) (in-game. Crota, Son Of Oryx, allowed them to come into this world in Verse 4:8) Cabal (in-game) Psions (in-game) War Beasts (in-game) Arkborn (Mask of the Fulminator (Warlock Leviathan armor)) Clipse (Mask of Rull (Titan Leviathan armor)) Sindu (Helm of the Ace-Defiant (Hunter Leviathan armor)) Scorn (in-game. See lore books The Lawless Frontier and Most Loyal) Fallen (in-game. See lore book Most Loyal) Humans (in-game) Awoken (in-game. See lore books The Dreaming City, Marasenna, and The Awoken of the Reef) Ahamkara (Many references. Notable are: Ghost Fragment: Warlock, Ghost Fragment: Legends 3) The Nine/Jovians (in-game, Xûr. Also see Ghost Fragment: The Queen) ‘Creatures in the monolith facilities’(Ancient Apocolypse Gloves, seen by the Drifter and his crew of Shadows) The Architects (in-game. Never trust them) Omitted: Exos (no organic parts) Taken (unclear if organic or have a will of their own) The Yaviirsi fig (not sentient. Or is it?!) Chimeras (Taken Servitors. Aka MEATBALLS! Unclear if organic or sentient) I don’t expect to win, or even come in second. Yet I don’t care. I never thought reading every single word of the 50 Books of Sorrow would be, well, ENTERTAINING. So, let the best man/exo/awoken/shadow/frame/worm god/Jovian/stormjoy/Clipse win! And now, I mean that. Edit: Added a few lore book references. Also, to ‘translate’ from Verse to Book form, simply see the Verse as a whole number, then subtract 10. For example: Verse 3:4–>34-10–>Book 24 (or XXIV). Edit 2: Removed 2 duplicates and emboldened names for easier writing. If I wasn’t so tired COUGH COUGH it would look much nicer :)

6 RepliesEdited by NeonPropose: 11/24/2018 6:56:36 PMJust so people are aware this is a lot simpler than an idea I proposed. Chubby:
Hey sky, how about we have them list EVERY SINGLE CREATURE/RACE IN THE GAME AND THE LORE?
Sky:
how about...no
This didn’t make the final cut.

3 RepliesMade a short note list, then had to get to work early. It’s my lucky day, it’s still going! *furiously types on keyboard* Also, a clarification, by ‘organic being’, you mean races of them, right? As in, ‘Hive’ would be acceptable, but ‘Ir Anuk’ wouldn’t count (though might be chalked up to ‘extra information’).

2 RepliesSo list them and where they come from? Still to much, if it was list then maybe, but I’ll just go back to grinding my Luna’s, maybe tomorrow will be better, after grinding 13 hours today I made negative 130 progress

19 RepliesBut if you list them, the winner is whoever gets to Wikipedia first.
