It's a video game. I just want to take off my damn helmet in the field. At least just when it makes sense. Like supper personal fight where character helmet is removed next scene. Ya.
You see, the Light bends what's realistic and what's possible. In the Destiny universe, a guardian taking a headshot with a helmet and a guardian taking a headshot without a helmet having the same TTK are both equally realistic.
Then why have armor at all? Realistically if it does nothing for protection then guardians shouldn’t wear them. It would just slow them down. Idk I haven’t looked into the lore too much but it seems like the armor they wear has to serve a point. Like the fact that even warlocks who wear almost none still have a full metal helmet has to mean something.
I think our shields only protect against fast moving projectiles, not physical combat.
Now why do Warlocks use full metal helmets? Well probably to protect their heads from physical damage, like getting hit in the head with something large and metal or getting punched in the face.
That being said remember that some guardians don't bother with helmets, wearing a helmet is really personal preference in the Destiny universe and isn't absolutely required if you wanna survive in battle.
Edit: It's also possible that Helmets come with huds, this would, obviously, provide tactical information. Again, still personal preference whether or not a guardian wants to wear a helmet. Ikora, Zavala, and Osiris obviously don't think they need a helmet for whatever reason.
I wished Bungie would have designed the HUD to feel like we were wearing a helmet though (Halo Style)it looks clean but basic and plain...maybe in Destiny 3 I guess.
