Question about Riven
I haven’t completed Last Wish, but I watched Datto complete it, and after he did, one of the Techeuns started talking about how Riven was an architect of the dreaming city and how she could now be put back to good use in the city. Is that implying that Riven isn’t actually dead, she’s just no longer taken, or do they mean putting her body to good use?

7 RepliesAhamkara transcend death. That's why the bones on exotics speak to the user, to grant them a wish (a twisted one of course). What's interesting to note is that after the raid is completed, a Siren of Riven (don't know if this is just Riven herself) speaks to you hinting that she is not done and will continue to be trouble by saying they have "grown an age-old bond." Also apparently the Taken curse on the city has grown worse for some reason.

Go read some of the lore on the Ahamkara at Ishtar Collective. Their influence and spirit has a funny way of sticking around after they die— which is why all the armor pieces with Ahamkara bones on them have spooky flavor text. The warlocks are especially interested in them.

6 RepliesThe Techeuns became un-taken when they were defeated, but Riven supposedly got one Last Wish because she died, so it’s really unclear to me whether she’s dead or alive.

Just like how we freed the Techeuns from their taken grasp, we must’ve done the same to Riven. Even in the “curse unleashed” message every player got when world’s first was complete, it said that Riven wanted to be freed from her taken self. It would be pretty cool if we just got rid of all the Taken essence within Riven so we could talk to her and even have her as a vendor.

When an Ahamkara dies, it’s never truly dead, as evident from the bones. It can still speak to you, and in some cases, still grant wishes. For example, Riven’s entire heart was extracted, and can still make wishes. The reason why materials from the Dreaming City don’t pop up in the Earth material database is because Riven created that material.

We'll find out that Mara was trying to stop that from happening, but Rivens Taken heart will still end up being used against the Dreaming City and w/e else. So Mara allows the Guardians in to distract Savathun as Eris pulls a Crota and rips open a hole in reality to banish the heart into. The hole leads to the Vex and then back in D1 we go into the Black Garden and destroy it. [spoiler]completely talking out my ass, but was fun lol.[/spoiler]

I'd assume it means they're using her heart for something, I'm not sure what it could be, but they've also said the Ahamkara transcend death.
