2 RepliesA female blue whale is the largest animal ever to exist during any time period on earth. Growing to lengths of up to 110 feet, the female blue whale can exceed 400,000 pounds when fully grown. It has a 2,000 pound heart with an aortic arch large enough to swim through, and skin that can be three feet thick in places. The fluke, or tail fin can weigh about 12,000 pounds, and can be scythed through the water as a defensive countermeasure, with enough force to kill anything that has ever lived. To put this whale into perspective, a fully grown bull African elephant can grow to weigh about 13,000 pounds, and is the largest living land animal. FYI, 13,000 pounds is about the weight of the blue whale tongue.
