i was excited when warmind came out that i would have a reason to play destiny 2 again. i had stopped playing curse of osiris in around february even though i hadn’t gotten to max light, there was just nothing fun to do or to grind for that i really wanted.
i came back to this game when warmind came out and was enjoying myself at first. the pvp had become somewhat tolerable and there were things grind for. i looked forward to getting on to play at the weekend. now though, at 364 light, i don’t really want to play anymore. i love raiding with my friends but nothing else is really enjoyable to do for me. i get on the weekend after reset, do some milestones for like three hours, and then i know that there is nothing else to be done. i won’t level up anymore unless i do the raid which like i said i’m happy to do, but its the only reason i have to play anymore which is disappointing. maybe if there were guns that i wanted to grind for, but i have every gun i want now that i got the frigid jackal from sleeper nodes.
i hoping that bungie is learning from their mistakes and that this update in september is going to be amazing. i still have hope for this game, i want to enjoy it. but i’m having a hard time with that in it’s current state.
are you still enjoying d2 and still grinding?
if you are enjoying it i’m not hating on you, i’m glad you’re enjoying yourself.
edit; lots of people asking me if i have done spire of stars or escalation protocol. my answer is why would i do them? the fusion rifle or the sidearm from spire of stars? the weapons from escalation protocol that are, admittedly pretty good, but are easily replaceable by normal legendaries?

1 Reply“Are you still enjoying Destiny 2 and still grinding?” The short answer: no. The progression system is a dumb mess. It was bad when D2 launched and they’ve only made it worse. Weekly powerful engrams to level up is not a grinding progression system; it’s simply a time gate to artificially slow down player ability to level and reach endgame content. Particularly with the design quirks, tuning, and level requirements of Escalation Protocol, not reaching higher light more quickly moves from being simply a minor annoyance to outright frustrating. The fact that the RNG on what slots powerful gear drops for can screw you out of parts of your weekly progression only compounds that. So in that respect, progression, there is no grind to enjoy. Most of the other stuff that’s grindy at the moment is really just abusive RNG slowing down getting through things, like with the Sleeper Nodes or with exotic catalyst drops. It’s uninteresting and unmotivating. PvP is something that while I’m never content with the tuning state, I can generally enjoy enough to kill some time, but playing through that enough to reset Valor twice, it’s kind of played out my interest in aggressively farming it. Bungie’s pace of tuning and making sensible adjustments is just too slow, to the point of being inexcusable and frankly incompetent in too many places. Very little actual content was added with the DLC, just a lot of ways to slow down player ability to finish everything. It’s lazy design, but not surprising; pretty much every time you see heavy RNG in loot and grinding, it’s because the devs know the volume of interesting and engaging content to keep players playing just isn’t there. The problem is when you push too far into doing that, you just turn players off from bothering to play at all.

6 RepliesLater. I am enjoying the hell out of Warmind. All three of my characters are 385, I have all the Escalation Protocol weapons and beat Spire on a regular basis. The exotic rework is great the exotics feel way better and the exotic masterworks are great. As for you not doing Spire because of a lack of rewards that is on you. Did you stop running VoG when you had all the gear? Of course not. We run raids because they are fun. Spire is incredibly fun and beating it isn't about rewards, it's about mastering the encounter. I don't have much left to chase but that isn't going to stop me from playing the hell out of the game. I don't need to constantly chase something. I play the game because I enjoy it. I enjoy the gun play and mechanics. Nothing is like Destiny even with all the issues D2 has had. People complaining about progression need to get over it. We wanted a grind, and this wasn't even a grind. As I said above I got all three characters to 385 and I have a stressful full time job. Bottom line I dedicated my free time to grinding nonstop every free second I had. Either dedicate yourself and get to grinding or stop complaining and go play some mindless crap like Fortnite I have said it numerous times and I will say it again, this community is impossible to please. This forum is filled with entitled millenial crybabies and people who can't let D1 go. D2 is a great game with best in class gunplay and mechanics and superbly designed raid experiences. Go cry somewhere else. Time for me to wrap things up and get ready for Spire runs and Escalation protocol. Oh and if you see me say hello so I can flash the Iron banner emote I bought. Love that thing. good talk

2 RepliesYou mean 3 story missions, one of which ended up being the nightfall last week, didn’t keep you entertained for more than a month? 😂
-
1 ReplyI'm only half way through. Bored me to death and half no interest in doing any more
-
Agree with this post, i played pretty much throughout CoO up until Warmind came out but I log in, play a strike or two and just feel like logging back out. Power grind just isn't fun and i'm not really interested.

Edited by BoomboxCollosus: 5/31/2018 4:06:10 PMI'm going to finish it up. But the new raid just looks recycled and kind of dumb. Escalation protocol is the most broken horde mode in a video game I've ever seen and the loophole is as anemic and pointless as ever. Remember when D2 came out and they said no more low-level light drops? But now 99% of drops are completely and utterly worthless. My favorite is but now they are throttling to Pad out the game but aren't trying to hide it and call it a so-called grind. A grind without meaning is basically just chasing your tail, and that's exactly what this feels like. There's no skill trees for options , just doing milestones every week to get to a high enough light level to even play the endgame and that's it. And to top it off they've gone full slot machine with eververse and put in The Matrix at 2 bucks a pop, so they are just doubling down on the exploitation at this point. They got caught with their pants down and then just decided to roll with it. I think we're seeing a rift in The Gaming Community where many of us think that voting with your money and discouraging companies from predatory and exploitative practices is a good thing. Then you have the Fanboys and kids that basically don't give a crap about anything as long as they get a little bit of feel good out of it. I'm almost to the point where I may go out and just purchase a Nintendo so I can play some couch Co-op and forget about the Shady wheelings and dealings of the sellout companies. I say sell out, but like Battlefront and EA, the fanbase can hurt their bottom line but they have other big franchises to fall back on. They'll keep coming back with some exploitative formula for these games and I don't see it ever stopping. These games aren't made for the player anymore. They are controlled backdrops and themes, much like a casino, which is a means to get you to hang around and play their game so you'll be more likely to spend money in their FPS Casino. At one point, and it still may be happening, Bungie was making more on eververse than the actual game itself. In real life I think gambling is a stupid waste of money, and yet it's a huge business and people still gladly hand over thousands of dollars to get ripped off. I don't get it but I see these games turning into exactly that

1 ReplyI’m going to have to be careful around you, aren’t I? *looks at pink-haired girl wielding a knife*

3 RepliesI'm playing it. It's pretty fun.

I'm still playing, albeit for now. Truth be told, Warmind is probably the most devisive DLC this franchise has ever had. Its the epitome of 1 step forward, 1 step backwards due to what Bungie did to progression. Overall, I feel that Warmind introduced an awful lot of quality of life improvements to D2, but The lack of mid-game progression really hurts this game right now. I'm also not happy about the modifiers in the Heroic Strike and the Heroic Adventures. They are too one sided, the disadvantages greatly out way the advantages, and it's made doing these activities a chore for me.

3 Replies1. Return to the D1 formula of loot 2. Fire the sandbox and crucible team 3. Never deviate again from the mechanics and expectations established in the first game. Short of that I’m likely done forever. There’s too many other games upcoming likely to respect your time and offer superior experiences. Cyberpunk 2077 is an upcoming RPG FPS. CD projekt red understand what makes an RPG looter. Bungie doesn’t.

1 Replya month ! what ! that thing was dead the moment garbage YouTube scammers convinced Bungie to change this DLC and the next DLC ! game officially dead !
-
52 RepliesDon’t worry mate you won’t be the last on this forum to express this. Give it a month and thousands of players will be doing the same thing. Watch out for the Bungie Defence League.
-
17 RepliesI love fan boys using "you didn't do it on 3 characters" as an excuse for content. Repeating the same shit 3 times is not content.
-
It’s $20 -blam!-in bucks, what did you expect? A taken king level expansion, made by a company without experience with the game before, who also figured out perfectly bungie’s new ironically named “tiger” engine.
-
4 RepliesEdited by DadKev: 5/29/2018 7:30:52 PMI've paid $60 for full games that don't last a month. I just played out Far Cry 5 in about 3 weeks.
-
8 RepliesHave you got the Braytech osprey rocket launcher from the Strange Terrain nightfall? , that is the last Braytech weapon and it's right there with Sins Of The Past, but more velocity Have you got sleeper simulant or Polaris lanse ? , Have you got worldline zero ? And you are not 385 yet, and haven't done escalation or spire , those are endgame activities that give players incentive to get to a higher level. You can't say it didn't last when you just gave up instead of finishing it !!! That's like giving up halfway up the mountain and saying the climb didn't last long enough.
-
why do them? well because YOU said that you like doing them with your buddies...
-
2 RepliesDid you eat the whole piece of dog shit just to be certain the last bite didn’t taste like strawberries,, even though the rest tasted like dog shit? ThEn yOu cAn’T JuDgE Scumgie!?!
-
26 RepliesYou havent attemped all the content warmind offers. I am not saying it is good or bad. But you are pretty much critizicing something you havent even tried. So your whole post is based on you being bored i guess? Have you done the new raid lair? have you beaten the last wave of EP? Do you have all the new armor set of EP?
-
37 RepliesLol, you have no spire completions, no escalation completions, 1 eow, 2 normal leviathan and 0 prestige leviathan. You are a 363/364 and you’ve literally completed nothing... as I said prior, just get out. Bye Felicia!
-
1 ReplyYeah at this point just remaster d1 for pc
-
Hey man. It happens. The content won’t appeal to all. I’d say take a break for a while. Come back when things get a little fresh and keep doing that till September DLC and hope for more then (if you want so still keep playing Destiny).
-
15 RepliesYou say it hasn't lasted a mounth yet non of your character are even 385 so by that definition you haven't finished the dlc till you get all character to max light or you just got bored ever one I'm still on the grind I need to get max light and do the new raid
-
Shit I've still got plenty left to grind. I may not use all of the new weapons but the collector in me wants them all. Still farming ep and light levels ATM. I actually like the new raid sidearm which is weird cause I hate sidearms. Doing the catalyst strike grind this week will keep me busy with my fire team. Next week will try EP out. To me it sounds like your done with the game cause no New weapons suit your play style or interest you enough to try and grind.

11 RepliesSo you haven't got everything but are proclaiming that it's done for you. Sorry but it doesn't work that way.
