Easy, they aren't trying to drain wallets with microtransactions.
They actually put thought into delivering a finished product.
I don't blame Sony and Microsoft, I blame some of the triple A franchises they associate with.

3 Replies*looks at amiibos* *looks at cash grab copy and paste pokemon game every year* *looks at inability to step outside their original ips and put more effort into experimenting and finding a new Mario or Link*

4 RepliesOr maybe we have so many micro transactions now because the price of games has not gone up in 10 years or more. Yet everything else has gotten more to make.
-
1 ReplyThe Nintendo switch is a joke anyone who disagrees needs to grow up and get a real console :)
-
33 RepliesEdited by shell: 11/30/2017 3:22:59 PMYes they are. Amiibos are just physical microtransactions. Not that I really care in this case, since Nintendo games are awesome anyway.

-
2 RepliesGranted they're not into Microtransactions but damn do they just put out anything and stick Mario onto it.
-
2 RepliesI hope they port Gale of Darkness to the switch. I always liked being able to snatch other people's Pokemon. Oh also the doubles battles.
-
But is it NBA2K18 and WWE2K18 on the switch and don't they have microtransactions??
-
Plus they released a great console, finally secured solid 3rd party support for the first time in ages, and are only charging $1.60 a month for online services which will include free copies of the best 1st party library around. Easily their strongest year since the Wii.

13 RepliesAmiibo Same shit different packaging, but it all stinks. Each one has their own special way to stick their hands into your wallets. Or how about having to rebuy the same snes classic for every damn ds/3ds I've ever owned, and i can expect ill have to buy them again whenever virtual console is on the switch. The big 3, they're all the same.

2 Replieswhat did nintendo win?

3 RepliesBut Sega does what Nintendon't....

5 RepliesNintendo has taken the hint and left their wallet-draining practices on mobile where it belongs. For their AAA console games, they focus on releasing a solid experience that isn't twisted too hard by corporate influence, thank goodness.

While I am not a fan of Amiibos personally, at least you can use them on multiple titles across multiple platforms. Still kinda shady when they put unobtainable features (Metroid Samus Returns is a good example) behind them. That being said though, they are actually trying to give gamers what they want, and that is fun games without the "Cinematic Experiences" and other bullshit.
-
2 RepliesWhat about the toy things they sell? I've heard they come in very limited quantities and can block you out of content.
-
2 RepliesThey have 2 games for their new console

1 ReplyFor Nintendo, winning means staying solvent as a company.

Edited by CallMeCaira: 12/1/2017 1:08:04 PMGive them a week. Nintendo’s alsways behind on these types of thing. Guarantee they’ll be in the new Metroid in someway.
-
They had outfits in mario, but you can effortlessly earn them by playing the game lol. At worst nintendo is starting payed online and dlc. Even then it isn't at the level everyone else is trying.
-
not neccessarily this but nintendo will win in the long run nevertheless. microsoft and sony are trying too hard to be the same as pc. especially microsoft. currently there is absolutely no incentive to buy an xbox tbh. sony has 'some' console exclusives up their sleeves. if you want to play the nintendo games you need to buy the console!
-
1 ReplyYou know of all game, I always, always look forward to Nintendo titles. Every Nintendo game I have ever played has always been fulfilling and re-playable. Even 20 plus years down the road.
-
I have to agree, and with amiibos being resalable just makes it a plus.
-
Because every game they released this year has been superb.
